First 13 Minutes of 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE To Screen At Selected Re-Release Showings of 300

If you're excited for 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE prepare to be more excited as the first 13 minutes will be shown at selected re-release showings for 300 on February 4th. Hit the jump for more!

In anticipation for the upcoming film release of WB's 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE, the first exclusive 13 minutes of the film will be shown at special re-release screenings for 300. The event is announced to take place February 4, so whatever your doing that day just drop it and head to the nearest movie theater (If it is in IMAX 3D).

In celebration of the March 7th release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “300: Rise of an Empire,” fans in ten cities in North America will have an opportunity to see the movie that started it all, Zack Snyder’s “300,” returning to the big screen exclusively for this event. Fans attending the event will also be the first to see the first 13 minutes of the much-anticipated “300: Rise of an Empire,” which will be unveiled—complete and uncut in 3D IMAX—prior to the first film’s screening.

The cities in which the events will be held are: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Boston, Dallas, Washington DC, Phoenix, Toronto and Montreal.

This is a popular marketing technique which has been previously displayed with Christopher Nolan's Batman films. I also think it's a great idea to get the fans out there and to raise more attention towards the film as the dawn of the release comes near.

Told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a new battlefield—on the sea. “300: Rise of an Empire” pits the Greek general Themistocles against the massive invading Persian forces, ruled by their God-King Xerxes, and led by Artemisia, the vengeful commander of the Persian navy. Knowing his only hope of defeating the overwhelming Persian armada will be to unite all of Greece, Themistocles leads the charge that will change the course of the war.

300: Rise of Empire directed by Noam Murro and Produced by Zack Snyder. Starring Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, and Lena Headey. The Film is set for release March 7th, 2014(3D/2D theaters and IMAX).

300 was good, ahead of its time visually but lacking in terms of story/development. This I think will be an even poorer experience. Shame. Millar was great once but like Alan Moore he thinks toomuch of himself and takes his (fading) talent too seriously. There was absolutely no need to create a graphic novel sequel because hollywood wants more of the same to make more money.

*Miller, Frank not Millar. Don't get me started on Mark Millar...

Yeah, because these types of delayed sequels are ALWAYS cash cows.

@Loki668 - no need to exagerate, it's no ALWAYS, give them some credit. Sometimes it's due to executive decision and an appalong business accumen. They are out there you know? The suits. They still get to make this type of decisions.

For example... Grown Ups. Terrible, terrible movie. Universally panned. And it still got a sequel.

Human Centipede. Shit movie (allegorically and literally). And they made a sequel.

300 is nowhere as bad as the movies I mentioned. It's decent for what it is. It's a visual spectacle (heavy on the slow mo but I'll overlook that) but the story should have ended with Leonidas' death.

@Gunslinger (or should I call you Roland Deschain?)

I liked 300 for what it was but I believe that they were a wee bit slow in trying to capitalize on its success. I'm going to watch it because I loved 300 (and it's Eva Green for god's sake) but I'm keeping my expectations for this one a little low.
