Sam Raimi Talks About Sequel Possibilities for 30 Days of Night

In a recent press confrence for "30 Days of Night," producer Sam Raimi talked about the possibilities of a sequel moving to the next chapter in "Dark Days."
As 30 Days of Night is set to open October 19 sequel talks is already in motion. Sam Raimi who's producing the film talks about the graphic novel Dark Days and the possibilities of it being the sequel.

"I only read it once, and it was a few years ago, but I thought it was great at the time, and it is very different, and I don't know if there's going to be a sequel to 30 Days of Night, nor do I know [that] if there was, it would be based upon that. You'd have to see if it's successful at the box office.

"And then if they do, I'd probably huddle with Ben and Steve and my partner, Rob Tapert, and figure out what they thought it should be," Raimi said. "Mostly I want to be true, if there was a sequel, to the books. I think that's what got us here in the first place."

"Dark Days" brings back some of the original vampires and is then followed by "Return to Barrow," which involves the brother of a survivor from the original attack. There's plenty of source material to keep this story going.

Raimi is in no way against sequels as his previous works prove; "We've always made sequels, myself and my friends, Scott Spiegel, Bruce Campbell, Rob Tapert," he said. "So making those sequels to the Evil Dead movies was nothing new, and to me it's always been just a return to familiar sets and approaches and working within that known setup. It kind of saves time in storytelling."
