Billion dollars is pretty likely for Hunger Games 2
Tainted87 - 12/8/2013, 8:55 AM
What's really impressive is that it's actually about even in the US and overseas.
Omarvls - 12/8/2013, 8:56 AM
Thor Dark World
610 Million with Japan still waiting to open
Not bad at all
Tainted87 - 12/8/2013, 8:57 AM
Oldboy.... I actually thought it would make a little more. I didn't think it would tank THAT bad, but wow. I guess movie-goers actually are tired of remakes.
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 8:58 AM
It should be close to 800 million worldwide by the time Hobbit 2 comes out next weekend.
Crazy thing is the movie hasn't even been out for a month yet
Bl00dwerK - 12/8/2013, 9:00 AM
@Tainted I don't think most moviegoers even realize it's a remake. Not that many people have even heard of, much less seen, Old Boy. Not your "average" moviegoer, anyway. It probably didn't do so well because it doesn't look like it's any good...
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:01 AM
Well the thing about oldboy is it only been released in like 580 theatres, the movie is nowhere showing in my city since its released
Sumitsjc - 12/8/2013, 9:03 AM
waiting For Hobbit 2 desolation of Box office.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:03 AM
Hunger games will not hit a billion. Old boy was not released in a wide release of theaters.
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:04 AM

It's more likely to get close to 800 million by next weekend, I think by the time catching fire is done at the theatres which could be around march or April, it should total up way past a billion dollars
Ramiel - 12/8/2013, 9:10 AM
Congrats to Frozen! It was a great movie.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:11 AM
Won't past a billion. Catching fire is only outpacing hunger games by$34 million and trailing the dark knight rises by like $17 million. It's pace suggest it won't hit a billion.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:12 AM
The hobbit will stymie the growth of catching fire.
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:13 AM

Smh lol u seriously don't think Catching Fire want make a little bit more than 300 million dollars in the 3 or 4 months!?!
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:14 AM
Lol @grif

When you going on your honeymoon, I need to buy you a drink. LOL. ;)
jcfrommars9 - 12/8/2013, 9:14 AM

I still don't see a billion, not yet.

TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:14 AM
@jojo going with pacing. Answer is NO! ;)
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:16 AM
It's also out pacing the last Harry Potter movie and how did that movie ended up making? Lol
charlie2094 - 12/8/2013, 9:20 AM
Awesome! Hopefully Hunger Games hits $800 million, completely deserves it! Should manage that before Hobbit comes out, anything over would be fantastic

Thor will probably finish at about $635-40 million, probably bring in $10-$15 million from Japan
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:22 AM
@jojo Damn you just want to be right so bad lol. O.k.! I say the hobbit has something to say about your prediction. ;)
jcfrommars9 - 12/8/2013, 9:23 AM

It's also out pacing the last Harry Potter movie and how did that movie ended up making? Lol

Out pacing Harry Potter doesn't mean it will make a billion dollars. For instance, the last Harry Potter movie made a billion in 19 days. Catching Fire will not do that.
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:24 AM
Umm the Hobbit is to be a big hit, but Hunger Games it's not going to like disappear from theatres is basically what you saying
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:25 AM
Also gotta think about the competition it has for the next few months

The Hobbit 2 and what 47 ronin

TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:28 AM
@jojo deathly hollows part two was released in July. Big difference.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:30 AM
@jojo if frozen is going strong that suggests never underestimate the competition. Remember man of steel lol. Remember world war z! Just some examples. ;)
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:31 AM
What I'm predicting is what I'm predicting

Y'all got admit a movie that made almost 700 million dollars in only 3 weeks of released is pretty damn good

Dark knight rises was a summer movie
The last Harry Potter was a summer movie
Hungers game 1 came out a month before the big summer movies rain on it(AVENGERS!!!)

Now how many Big movies we got coming in the month or so?
Facade - 12/8/2013, 9:32 AM
I got roped into Hunger Games and boy was it dumb! I didn;t like the 1st one, either. The acting was bad, the storyline (ahem) was bland and the costumes were Gaga. UGH!!!
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:32 AM

Man of Steel
World war z
Whatever movie you bout name else

Were summer movies
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:33 AM
Anyways its great to see Thor 2 grossing about $610 million. Creeping on man of steel territory, but concerning budget it has spit on man of steel. ;)
charlie2094 - 12/8/2013, 9:35 AM

Think it's more likely Hunger Games finishes around $800 million, don't think it has anywhere left to open and with Frozen doing well and Hobbit opening soon, don't see it taking in too much more, $900 might be possible
jcfrommars9 - 12/8/2013, 9:35 AM

Everybody talks about Monsters University breaking Man of Steel but it did no such thing. What broke Man of Steel was World War Z. It also outpaced Man of Steel though it ended up making less.
jcfrommars9 - 12/8/2013, 9:37 AM

Y'all got admit a movie that made almost 700 million dollars in only 3 weeks of released is pretty damn good

Pretty damn good? It's fricking awesome!! Especially for a movie with a female lead.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:38 AM
@jojo I mentioned summer release and you try to use it against me lol. I purely said as well never underestimate the competition. Your saying besides the hobbit what else is being released. Your poo pooing 47 robin, but you can't predict that outcome. Frozen is still going strong so that suggests 1.hobbit 2.frozen 3.catching fire if a surprise December release doesn't sneak in. Folks have gotten their fill of hunger games. I'm just saying.
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:40 AM
Remy you got some issues, lol

Nah I'm looking at what other big movies that are coming out for the Nxt few months and there is nothing really so hobbit 2 and Hunger Games 2 are pretty much going to rule the box office for awhile
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:42 AM

Why do u mention MOS in this thread that has nothing to do with the movie? Lol

Ur such a troll doll
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:44 AM

How am I poo poo on 47 Ronin!?

You also gotta think Catchibg has about what 2 or 3 countries it hasn't released yet.
aRandomSinisterClone - 12/8/2013, 9:46 AM
which of these is a comic book movie? this site is going to have to be renamed soon. just another pop culture site, shame
JoJo1982 - 12/8/2013, 9:51 AM
*catching Fire*
AutobotCommander84 - 12/8/2013, 9:51 AM
That sucks. I was hoping CF would hit the $1 billion mark.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/8/2013, 9:52 AM
@jojo you said this: ..... there is nothing really so hobbit 2 and Hunger Games 2 are pretty much going to rule the box office for awhile.

Poo pooing competition!!!!! Lol. Then follow up and say:

How am I poo poo 47 Ronin?

Your words said so lol ;)
