Could We See Chris & Liam Hemsworth Star In THE RAID Remake?

Could We See Chris & Liam Hemsworth Star In THE RAID Remake?

For better or worse, the remake is definitely happening anyway as Expendables 3 helmer Patrick Hughes has signed on to direct -- but the rumor mill has Thor and his little bro on the studio's radar to play the lead roles. Read on for more..

The Wrap report that Patrick Hughes will direct the remake of The Raid for Screen Gems, with production set to kick off this Fall. Brad Inglesby (Out of the Furnace) wrote the flick, which has XYZ Films and original director Gareth Huw Evans on board as producers. Although casting hasn't officially begun, word is "the Hemsworth brothers have been mentioned as possible targets for the hard-hitting action movie." As fans of the excellent original will know, the story focuses on a pair of very skilled brothers who find themselves on opposite sides of the law, so it would certainly be a couple of juicy roles for the Hemsworth boys. That aside, what do you guys think of the fact that we're getting this remake at all? Sound off below.

No. No. No.
MrSotoMan - 2/22/2014, 11:29 AM
You know why can't we just remake movies that literally are not good from the get-go? Why must we remake good movies? It never makes any sense to me to remake a great movie.

JoJo1982 - 2/22/2014, 11:31 AM

We can't leave foreign classics alone now
LMB10 - 2/22/2014, 11:31 AM
This film came out THREE years ago. [frick]ing hell.
MrSotoMan - 2/22/2014, 11:32 AM
The story NEVER FOCUSES ON THE BROTHERS by the way, it focused on the main character fighting his way through a building he was never supposed to be in anyway and authorized by a crooked police officer who wanted to be the new king of the criminal underworld.

The brothers, were just a subplot.
TheVirgin - 2/22/2014, 11:36 AM
Noooo! Nooo! *inserts Michael Scott's No gif*

MericawithanM - 2/22/2014, 11:43 AM
This absolutely should not be getting a remake. The first one is just so awesome and those fight scenes cannot be topped. basically they are going to attempt to make a watered down version. However, I am so pumped for the 2nd one. March 28th needs to get here sooner!!
Pasto - 2/22/2014, 11:46 AM
MrCBM56 - 2/22/2014, 11:46 AM
A remake already? Anyone else think this is too soon.
TheEmptySoulessSpectre - 2/22/2014, 11:48 AM
TheRealisticStarLord I got your back bro
PsychoManiacJacky - 2/22/2014, 11:49 AM

The Raid, what a terrible movie. The remake would surely blow it out the water by miles to come. I mean who seriously likes to read SUBTITLES! By gosh it`s so annoying. I want to focus on the story not read subtitles constantly! Then all the silly non sensible action, am sure Hollywood can put more sense into this movie. I don`t know what that director is thinking with making the Raid and the Raid 2. Remake is gonna be 100x better haters gonna hate.
pesmerga44 - 2/22/2014, 11:49 AM
Seriously 3 years after the first one came out can't you wait until the movie is say 10 years old. Also we already got the American version of the Raid it was called Dredd, in actuality Raid is the Indonesian version of Dredd since the Dredd script was leaked back in 2010 and was in production much much longer then Raid and Raid just got out first.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 2/22/2014, 11:51 AM
The Raid remake? wtf
LuBeTHiGhWalK3R - 2/22/2014, 11:51 AM
@Pyscho- Umm... No
jmartinez986 - 2/22/2014, 11:51 AM
@sid, just my thought
this makes it seem like it might be a millitary themed remake.
SuperSomething616 - 2/22/2014, 11:52 AM
WWWWHHHHHHHYYYYYYY!? Also Liam clearly looks taller than Chris and Chris is 6ft tall is Liam Geez....
BlackIceJoe - 2/22/2014, 11:55 AM
Didn't this movie just come out a few years back? What is wrong with people watching foreign films? I could see a movie inspired by that film but a remake why? Look I hope this just a rumor because it's not needed at all. Plus I highly doubt it will be as violent as the original too. So I vote for a pass on this remake.
MericawithanM - 2/22/2014, 11:57 AM
@psycho, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
DivinePeaceTime - 2/22/2014, 12:01 PM
Man..."The Raid: Redemption" already had an American Remake...

They called it "Dredd"

Hahaha....they need to leave this one alone though...I do not support this remake.
MsDarkPhoenix - 2/22/2014, 12:08 PM
@SuperSomething616 Actually, they are both 6'3" but Liam does look taller in this picture, idk why.
MisterBabadook - 2/22/2014, 12:10 PM
Really? Come on.
DivinePeaceTime - 2/22/2014, 12:10 PM
@Nasseal0101 Absolutely. The Raid came well before Dredd =/
Ocelot - 2/22/2014, 12:11 PM
Will be watered down PG-13 crap ala The Robocop and Total Recall remakes, no thank you, doesn't need to be remade.

MsDarkPhoenix - 2/22/2014, 12:12 PM
Look at all the cute people who think that Jacky is being serious...

Anyway, I don't agree with the remake but I'd support any movie that has both Hemsworth brothers in it :P
Pheezmatic - 2/22/2014, 12:20 PM
@Jacky LMAOO
ChiliConCarney - 2/22/2014, 12:23 PM
You know why foreign films get remade so quickly here? Same reason our films do not get remade so quickly...

SpiderFraud - 2/22/2014, 12:24 PM
Liam is pretty lame at the moment so no. Raid remake sounds lame also so no.
revjordan - 2/22/2014, 12:30 PM
StarGateCommand - 2/22/2014, 12:31 PM
Dumb and dumber. Neither the Indonesian nor American people approve of this remake.
SpiderFraud - 2/22/2014, 12:32 PM

Lmao, so true. I guess they wanna give us the more grounded version
AgentZero - 2/22/2014, 12:32 PM
Since when were Chris and Liam martial artists ?

SpoonWielder - 2/22/2014, 12:48 PM
Still not as bad as the Death at a Funeral remake that was made only 3 years later and had Peter Dinklage starring in both versions.
BubblesShedAndBreakfast - 2/22/2014, 12:54 PM
Hey Hollywood!!!! Stop making shitty remakes of good movies and start making good remakes out of shitty movies! Leave The Raid alone please!!!!
Effusion - 2/22/2014, 12:58 PM
Pedrito - 2/22/2014, 12:59 PM
Screw that remake bullshit.
Part of the appeal of the movie was how anonymous all the characters seemed. You didn't know who was the protagonist until he was basically the only one left. And there was a real sense of danger for him and his brother.
All of that will be gone if Hollywood sticks its dick in it.
StarGateCommand - 2/22/2014, 1:00 PM
Why is Hollywood so eager to remake this particular movie so quickly? What ulterior motive or agenda is at work here?
AGoodHonestMan - 2/22/2014, 1:03 PM
This remake is going to fail hard like the American Old Boy movie.
