Fox Moving Ahead With Movie Based On Mark Millar and Leinil Francis Yu's SUPERIOR

There had been rumblings about this in the past, but 20th Century Fox are now officially moving ahead with a big screen adaptation of Superior, with Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn set to produce. Hit the jump for further details!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox have no picked up the rights to Superior. There has been talk of a movie version ever since the comic book from Mark Millar and Leinil Francis Yu made its debut back in 2010. Matthew Vaughn - who directed another Millarworld adaptation which will be released later this year called The Secret Service - is set to produce, a search for a writer is expected to begin from now. There's no word on a director, but it would certainly be an interesting project for Vaughn. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Superior, it focuses on a 12 year old boy who is stricken by multiple sclerosis. When an alien grants him one wish (to become his favourite Superman-like superhero), he gets to live out his fantasy. However, there's soon a huge twist in the tale and things take a very dramatic and interesting turn! Are you guys excited for a Superior movie? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

Yeah, cool, whatever, anyways, why don't you spend your hard earned money (ha I made a funny) to hire a better Fantastic Four cast.
Mechagino - 4/15/2014, 9:06 AM
Heh, I would love to see if this comes out in 2016. Just to show how Supes is SUPERIOR to... Well Superior.
TheRationalNerd - 4/15/2014, 9:09 AM

It'll be here in the morning for UK and it'll be at night for the US.

I put this up on my top 5, man. Definitely a good read.
TheRationalNerd - 4/15/2014, 9:14 AM

Yeah, that's what I saw on Twitter for the UK's response to a questioner.
YoDawg - 4/15/2014, 9:14 AM
[frick] yes.....Superior is an awesome book, one of Millar's best. Been waiting to hear about this for some time now.
Invictor - 4/15/2014, 9:14 AM

*Sticks out tongue*
Mysterion - 4/15/2014, 9:17 AM

The monkey is a *****, and the kid has to **** his **** to the *****.
Invictor - 4/15/2014, 9:19 AM

This is a hit for Millar.

Unnecessary censorship!
Mysterion - 4/15/2014, 9:20 AM
@TheBlackNerd: dont hold your breath for Kickass 3, I highly doubt it will see the light of day.
Prime - 4/15/2014, 9:21 AM
And no Cap Marvel yet. [frick] Fox though.
nibs - 4/15/2014, 9:21 AM
lol @cyph "I'm just taking the piss"
brit-slang gets me everytime. in snuff box when berry says "piece of piss" instead of "piece of cake" STILL has me laughing
cipher - 4/15/2014, 9:21 AM
Berserk- That good, huh? Cool. I'll check it out.

ralfinader - 4/15/2014, 9:22 AM
I'd see this. Probably get on the big screen before Shazam, because WB fears DC properties without pointy ears. I don't hate Fox, just Schuler/Singer, hate how badly they handle my favorite comicbook property: X-Men.
smell - 4/15/2014, 9:22 AM
Secret service still in the works?
cipher - 4/15/2014, 9:23 AM
nibs- Hahahahahahaha. I get the same thing from my friends. They're always tellin' me how amusing it is, and I'm like "well, you yanks and your f*cking blah, blah"..

Mysterion - 4/15/2014, 9:24 AM
@smell: its already filmed, its in post production, its coming sometime in Oct 2014
ProfessorX - 4/15/2014, 9:28 AM
Lol, Fox have scheduled the Days of Future Past trailer to premier at the same time as Agents of SHIELD airs (9pm). What a bunch of [frick]ers.
Mysterion - 4/15/2014, 9:32 AM
WB/ DC is sitting on a goldmine, Shazam could be the next big superhero franchise if the done right...a young boy is given superman-like powers and can turn back and fourth to kid by saying SHAZAM. Kids will eat this up and so can adults if done right. But NO, WB is so reactive, they dont take chances.

kalelhawj - 4/15/2014, 9:40 AM
Fox have their Superman clone in Superior... lol...
Foolkiller - 4/15/2014, 9:48 AM
This is a great comic, much better than anything Marvel or DC have done in their universes in s long time. It also has the benefit of being a stand-alone story with just a handful of well defined characters. I have high hopes for this.
Enphlieuwince - 4/15/2014, 10:00 AM
This sounds cool. I can dig it...
charlie2094 - 4/15/2014, 10:04 AM
Awesome stuff! Great comic, love a lot of Millar's work. Great to see Nemesis done, that's still happening right?

Guess this maybe hurts the chances of a Shazam movie even more?
126thst - 4/15/2014, 10:17 AM
Nothing Millarworld excites me anymore....But I do applaude him for building his own brand. FOX pretty much picks up all his stuff now...
CaptainObvious - 4/15/2014, 10:21 AM
I liked Millar's work better before all his comics were about how evil and psychopathic he thinks comic book fans are.
