RUMOR: Amen! Matt Damon Is BOURNE Again

RUMOR: Amen! Matt Damon Is BOURNE Again

Latino Review's scooper extraordinaire, El Mayimbe, has been dropping scoops left and right and a few minutes ago he revealed that Matt Damon will play Jason Bourne once more.

The Bourne Legacy was the fourth film in the Bourne franchise and the first without Matt Damon. Jeremy Renner ("The Avengers") took the lead, playing a new character, Aaron Cross. It did well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel. In November, Paramount hired director Justin Lin, who best known for his Fast & Furious work, to helm the sequel, which was written by Sherlock Holmes' writer Anthony Peckham. Yesterday, Paramount surprisingly announced that the film would be delayed. It was originally set to open August 14, 2015, but now it will be released on July 15, 2016.

So, why the delay? El Mayimbe knows:
Well clearly, times have changed. According to a deeply embedded trusted source, the reason Bourne 5 got pushed to July 15, 2016 is because Matt Damon is in fact back to play his signature role as Jason Bourne for director Justin Lin!

Nice try Hawkeye.

Bourne Legacy sucked. Only Damon can revive the franchise (even though it should have ended as a trilogy).
KingOnslaught - 6/19/2014, 9:26 PM
never cared for anyone of the films really the last 3rd one was the best though
staypuffed - 6/19/2014, 9:29 PM
I don't care for Bourne, but cool I guess.
SpiderFraud - 6/19/2014, 9:31 PM
Lets kick Renner out of the franchise and just focus on the only person that matters in these movies, thank you.
Desrow - 6/19/2014, 9:33 PM
Legacy sucked big elephant dick, nice to see Matt coming back (if true).
JAC - 6/19/2014, 9:43 PM
Not a chance. He's always said if it wasn't Greengrass then he wouldn't do it, and as much as this would be amazing news I really don't know, but then again why delay it? Who knows (I certainly don't).
OcciferPing - 6/19/2014, 9:44 PM
Damon won't come back unless it makes sense. At least he has integrity with what he chooses to act in.
IDKwhatToChoose - 6/19/2014, 9:51 PM
Lol THAT is a headline!!!
KnobGoblin - 6/19/2014, 9:54 PM
Hopefully it's true that Damon is returning, and 'The Bourne Legacy' gets swept under the rug like X-MEN Origins: Wolverine did. That movie was the turd in the punch bowl of the franchise.
Jhuntdaprodigy - 6/19/2014, 9:56 PM
I'm definitely not holding my breath, but I certainly do hope this ends up to be true. Haven't even seen Bourne Legacy, so I can't speak on it's quality, but without Damon/Bourne, I'm positive that it just wasn't the same. I know he said for awhile he'd only come back if Greengrass was the director, but maybe he really liked the script.
ComicsBornAndBred - 6/19/2014, 10:03 PM
So Renner and Damon will either team up or go against each other??? Nice. It'd be. Cool to see them be rivals an hve a kind of cat and mouse head to head battle that spans the globe or some shit. Assasin versus assasin
AFRICANNERD - 6/19/2014, 10:04 PM
Good, now Renner can take over the Mission Impossible franchise as planned
ComicsBornAndBred - 6/19/2014, 10:04 PM
Don't trash Renner he's a great actor. It's be cool to see them team up and I'm ire Damon has mad respect for Renner.
mgeoff88 - 6/19/2014, 10:10 PM
I actually think Jeremy Renner did a pretty good job considering the bad script he had to work with.

If this is true though, it will be awesome to see Matt Damon come back!

@Superhero Jason Bourne and Aaron Cross teaming-up... [frick] Yeah!

Must be use to sucking elephant sized dicks with your description lol.
fedeferruzola - 6/19/2014, 10:12 PM
No que como lo conseguirá, tengo decirlo me sorprende El Mayimbe es HYDRA :D
GuardianAngel - 6/19/2014, 10:13 PM
The first three were amazing, but that last one just ruined it for me. If Damon is truly back, I can just pretend Bourne Legacy never happened.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 6/19/2014, 10:17 PM
I love the bourne trilogy. Wouldn't have The winter soldier film if it wasn't for the bourne films leaving an imprint.
KnobGoblin - 6/19/2014, 10:18 PM
The biggest problem with 'The Bourne Legacy' is that it tried to introduce things into the Bourne universe that just didn't belong, like pills that give you superhuman abilities. The original trilogy, for the most part, was a very grounded spy/action franchise. Popping pills that suddenly make you Captain America just doesn't jive well with the world they'd established, which is why I think Damon passed on the 4th movie originally.
mgeoff88 - 6/19/2014, 10:32 PM
I would really like to see a sequel to The Bourne Conspiracy:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

That was a great game.
Lhornbk - 6/19/2014, 10:37 PM
So, is there some kind of competition between you and Wilding to see who can do the most to promote el mayimbe? As usual, not buying it until it's confirmed (and, once again, the trades do NOT count as confirmation. Announcement by the studio or announcement by Damon counts as confirmation.)
l0rdleg0las - 6/19/2014, 10:46 PM
I call bullshit until Damon confirms this. He has always said he would only come back if the script was good and Greengrass was with him.

And I really could care less about another Renner - Bourne movie. Bourne Legacy was horrible, but the fault can't really be put on him. The script was bad, and it looked like it had a lot of cut scenes, and the way it ended was just plain odd. It seemed like the last 20 minutes of the movie was missing.
XF14 - 6/19/2014, 10:54 PM
As long as they drop the shakey cam crap they pulled in the 2nd & 4rd films, cool. Greatly fouled the entire franchise for me, #4 with Renner was decent tough.
ChiliConCarney - 6/19/2014, 10:59 PM
I wish

would have stuck with his band.

BlackIceJoe - 6/19/2014, 11:04 PM
This is great news. Matt was great in this franchise so I'm happy with this news. It will be interesting seeing Matt and Jeremy team up together.
wallhead - 6/19/2014, 11:19 PM

are you an idiot? he has a movie he is leading this year? and hanzel and grettle is getting a sequel. like it or not, he is getting work...shoot he is makin more money than u lol.

So nobody is gonna mentioned Renner's name in the movie is 'Aaron Cross' not 'Alex Cross'? So much for pretending to be fanboys.

You [frick]ed up nailbiter111
symbiotics - 6/19/2014, 11:36 PM
if this is true, let's hope they also get John Powell to do the score, the score of the trilogy was amazing
113 - 6/19/2014, 11:36 PM
I was never big into these films. They were good, no doubt, just not really my thing. Bourne is no Bond.

But I did love The Bourne Ultimatum, that was the best one.
HawkeyeFangirl - 6/19/2014, 11:39 PM
The movie is also called "The Avengers" and not "The Avenger"....
PhilipG - 6/20/2014, 12:19 AM
Renner is way overrated as an actor. Now let's hear it from our little marvel trolls.
MightyZeus - 6/20/2014, 12:26 AM
I dont care what happens, as long as it's good. I only saw the Bourne Identity and i thought that film was good but at times it was a little boring. The character was only motivated by trying to obtain a super pill which turns a person in to a super soldier. Edward Norton did not do much. The film awkwardly ends abruptly though.
mgeoff88 - 6/20/2014, 12:47 AM
@DIAMONDZ Jason Bourne is a badass spy, but nobody does it better than James Bond.
loki668 - 6/20/2014, 12:53 AM
I wonder how long Matt Damon is prepared to play this role?
