Tonight's episode was very, very good and I look forward to the new villain. Hopefully it will be like Moriarty where one series is spent building him up and then another building him up further for the endgame. Hopefully he won't be defeated in this episode and forgotten. I am however VERY disappointed with how they used Moran. He was Moriarty's right hand man in the books who used to be in the military and was the world's best sharpshooter/sniper... and they had him be a douche politician with no dialogue and 1 minute of screentime...

Sherlock seems to have a Second Episode curse. Episode Two of Series One is seen as the weakest episode ever and Episode Two of both Series Two and Three were both fillers. Episode One of all Three Series have been excellent and the third and climatic episode is normally the best one by far.

Were you just banned?
PunPun - 1/5/2014, 2:20 PM
OMG Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in the same show it must be good LOLZ. Nope. It's not. This show should be thrown by the wayside just like that joke of a show Agents of Shield. Just because a show has good actors doesn't mean it'll be a good show.
Klone - 1/5/2014, 2:22 PM
So say we have six series in total with one villain taking up two series...

Series One and Two: Moriarty

Series Three and Four: Magnussen

So what Sherlock villain would take up Five and Six?
Klone - 1/5/2014, 2:23 PM

I'm not entirely clear on the situation. Apparently my account wasn't banned but my IP wasn't and then I emailed Galactus and then back to normal 2 days later... not entirely clear on what happened, but one of those things I suppose.
Klone - 1/5/2014, 2:25 PM
Moran could of potentially been the third out of the villains but that plan is [frick]ed now... and ironically, if Moran was the third villain it would be like... I don't know, "The M Trilogy" or something lol...

Klone - 1/5/2014, 2:29 PM

The producers have said they will be a Series Four and each episode gets around 9.5 million viewers, so yeah, another one will happen.

I like how this show takes all the characters from the films we don't care for and makes them good. Like Mary in the films was a pretty boring, plain, annoying character and here she's really likable. Same with Mycroft. You enjoy disliking him or you dislike enjoying him. Unlike Fry's... uh... attempt.

Today's Ep was great!
I could digest it in one sitting; there was so so sooo much going on; the sub-plots of sub-plots, it's insane! Really need to see it at least couple of more time to fully grasp on the side stuff, but it was a truly great episode, unlike Series 1 & 2 middles Ep which even though we're great but were individual Ep & not connected to the whole series story, but this one was!

Damn, Sherlock is getting more & more Human in this series!
Loved beyond words the Acting, Writing & visual style! So fvcking great!!

i wasnt able to watch the full thing due to my stream being horrible but what i saw i really enjoyeditfelt a little draggy though but maybe if i see it better ,it wnt be aproblem,i dont think i have disliked an episode of sherlock, A study in pink is quite good, the blind banker is good but not as good as the first one and The great game is great. A scandal in belgravia is great, the hounds of baskerville is really good,Reichenbach is great, the first episode of this series was good so yeah, hopefully the last Vow keeps it up
marvel72 - 1/5/2014, 3:53 PM
cumberbatch is fantastic actor, however i don't think i've ever seen a whole episode of sherlock all the way through.
Masterpace - 1/5/2014, 4:08 PM

I think it will be the last season...Freeman and Cumberbatch had already problems to find time to do this one...They will finish Hobbit this year but I think there will be a lot of roles for Cumberbatch and Freeman...I hope i'm wrong cause this show is awesome.

Klone - 1/5/2014, 4:13 PM

I believe Cumberbatch and Freeman themselves were the first to say a fourth series would be on the way. This statement was then cemented by one of the female producers/showrunners. And a fourth series with an ever growing fanbase, popularity and 9 million or so viewers per episode? It's gonna happen.

-Study in Pink
-The Great Game
-Scandal in Belgravia
-The Reichenbach Falls

Those are the best episodes in my opinion.
Dangermouse78 - 1/5/2014, 4:21 PM
Brilliant episode tonight. Very clever and loved the drunk scenes.

Glad to hear they are making more after this series, the only problem is how busy the leads will be with other projects.

@PunPun Really cannot understand why anyone would not like this show, its so original, cleverly written, acted well and fun - putting it in same bracket as AoS is ridiculous
Dangermouse78 - 1/5/2014, 4:29 PM
I also watch Elementary. I like Jonny Lee Miller's version of the character as well as he's quirky in a different way, but that show does suffer from some pretty poor episodes, which you can work out the plot within the first 5 minutes, which is never good. I suppose that's what you get when you go for quantity over quality!

Also the Moriarty twist in elementary was ridiculous and not at all effective.
CrimsonFlash - 1/5/2014, 5:16 PM
Tonights episode might have been my favorite
Bloodraven - 1/5/2014, 5:29 PM
@PunPun Sherlock is infinitely better than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Minty - 1/5/2014, 6:03 PM
Tonight's ep was brilliant, hilarious and sometimes just plain weird - loved it. The episodes are all consistently great, but I'll always love Study In Pink the most - a truly brilliant hour and a half

@Danger - I watch Elementary too. I think its solid TV that does get better (but not quite Sherlock levels you're right). The twist was odd true, but Natalie Dormer is absolutely brilliant whenever she's on screen so that makes up for it

Also ignore PunPun - he be trolling for shits and giggles ;)
Fenlion - 1/5/2014, 7:41 PM
Arrowhead, go to couch tuner. That's where I, a Brit living in canada, get each ep hours after it airs in the UK

This series would be perfect if it was a period piece. It´s too much laziness not to place this in the time where it belongs.
NightWatcher - 1/6/2014, 6:52 AM
Just got finish watching this over the weekend. Sherlock is Good!
soforizo - 1/6/2014, 7:43 AM

I agree that there's an episode 2 curse, which makes me think that the show's quality is that its limited to 3 episodes per season. Last night's episode dragged at times and didn't become great until the end. That said, I felt this episode was the best episode 2 of the cursed ones.

P.S. I wrote to you on the BvS news thread.

Sherlock as a whole is much better than Elementary, but Elementary's take on Moriarty was much better than Sherlock's goofy version.

Perfect as an adaptation yes, but I prefer it being placed on our time. I love how they mix technology with the material, I found last night's shifting of internet profiles fascinating.
Klone - 1/6/2014, 8:27 AM

I wouldn't say 'goofy'. Insane, yes. Magnussen looks like he will be good.
soforizo - 1/6/2014, 8:50 AM

Insane is more accurate, but just that he stuck out like a sore thumb in an otherwise excellent series. I didn't totally hate their Moriarty, he just was sorta out of place.
ezio619 - 1/6/2014, 11:18 AM
i think this is how i would rank the modern sherlock holmes adaptations,I like all of them, just some more then others, be it known,i have not read any of the books though i do want to and plan to eventually

3.Elementary: while it is a police procedural, i like the banter between between Watson and Holmes, i know the creator has said that he does not plan to make it romantic so hopefully he sticks to that,Jonny lee miller is great as sherlock who in this is a post rehab man who is broken ,mean, arrogant but still has some humanity and compassion in him and he plays that great, lucy liu is great as watson, i like their take on moriarty, the creator said he made watson female because he was always interested in sherlocks relationship with women in the books so he made watson and moriarty female,i liked the whole moriarty using the irene adler alias to get close to sherlock and see how he is,i like the dynamic of moriarty being his greatest enemy and also his greatest love.i also like moriarty being a mastermind who modus operandi is that she sells criminals to the highest bidder for whatever job needs to be done,Natalie Dormer is great as Moriarty imo, especially the last episode

2.Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes Films: i know people will disgaree on this one but i really enjoy both sherlock holmes films, i think RDJ is great as sherlock holmes, jude law is great as watson, i liked mark strong and jared harris both respectfully quite alot as the two villains Lord Blackwood and Professor James Moriarty,i like the stories etc.

1.Sherlock: who else?, the show is quite well written with agreat visual style , Benedict Cumberbatch is fanstic as Sherlock, he plays the" high functioning sociopatch who is somewhere on the autism spectrum well", he is a cold, logical man, who considers emotions to be a weaknesses but slowly starts to care more and develop a family of sorts, martin freeman plays a very dignified , upright john watson quite well,i love their moriarty, andrew scott is great imo, i was taken aback on how unusual this moriarty was, he was kinda babyfaced, young guy who is not the posh professorial figure of the books but a very modern insane mastercriminal,i thought he was too over the top but i really loved him in series 2,hopefully magnussen can be quite good
soforizo - 1/6/2014, 11:29 AM

I rank 'em just like you do.
ezio619 - 1/6/2014, 11:47 AM
this is how i would rank the the episodes of sherlock

1.A Scandal In Belgravia
2.The Empty Hearse
3.A Study in Pink

1.The Sign of Three
2.The Hounds of Baskerville
3.The Blind Banker

1.The Reichenbach fall
2.The Great Game
we will see how" His Last Vow" stands up
