Will Armie Hammer Utter The Phrase ""Hi-Yo Silver! Away!" In THE LONE RANGER?

While promoting his new movie, Mirror, Mirror the actor answered a few questions about his next film. Will Armie Hammer's Lone Ranger shout the iconic line, "Hi-Yo Silver! Away!" in the film? Click the jump to find out.

Left for dead in an ambush with five other Texas Rangers, lawman John Reid (Armie Hammer) survives and is nursed back to health by an Indian scout named Tonto (Johnny Depp). He then dons a mask to avenge the murders of his comrades and to foil evildoers, never accepting payment for his services. His gratis vigilantism is made possible by the silver mine he inherits from his slain brothers - the same mine that affords him his endless supply of trademark silver bullets.

Armie Hammer chats with Access’ Billy Bush at the “Mirror Mirror” press junket about taking on the title role in “The Lone Ranger.” What’s it been like working with Johnny Depp and Jerry Bruckheimer? Plus, how close are they sticking to the original TV show?

The Lone Ranger will be released in theaters May 31, 2013. The film stars Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp as Tonto. Also starring in the movie: Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper and Timothy Hutton.

Sounds like a solid story. Hes kinda like a western Batman with a Native American Robin.
TheGlove - 3/9/2012, 1:52 AM
I hope he's watched the other lone Ranger remake from the 1980's. it was terrible.
UltimaRex - 3/9/2012, 2:51 AM

Right goddamn now.
HavocPrime - 3/9/2012, 3:19 AM
Why didn't they make Depp the Ranger since he will be advertised the hell out of.
UltimaRex - 3/9/2012, 3:54 AM
@RamonSuarez, he was JLA's Batman for a time but there are only a few guys who can pull off Superman and Hammer is at the top of that list IMO. He might be too tall for Clark Kent but how much Clark are we going to see in JLA?
BatEagle74 - 3/9/2012, 4:20 AM
Johnny Depp looks pathetic
yeoldeemoney - 3/9/2012, 5:18 AM
OHhhhh. He said BIGGER seat. I almost spit out my coffee at that.
CrowPirate1 - 3/9/2012, 5:26 AM
I can't get past Johnny Depp's abstract art attempt.. I mean paint job.. I mean another wacky character in what was supposed to be a straight forward western.

and I LIKE Depp. sighs. He's a good actor. But he's getting lost in the "creating something different than he's done before" mode. Not every character part has to be a CHARACTER... then it just turns into a lame caricature of what could have been.

eh, maybe I just need more coffee
superotherside - 3/9/2012, 6:08 AM
You wearing the traditional costume?

No, I'm wearing something more updated like a lame suit coat that no cowboy would be caught dead in.

Actually it sounds like it might be really good. I hope he doesn't wear the suit all the time though. And I hope Depp wash's his face. But besides that everything else sounds good and I agree with grif on the Hi-Yo Silver! Away! thing.
docgl - 3/9/2012, 6:29 AM
Dynamite got The Ranger right and updated him for modern audiences. Bruckheimer and Depp should pay attention to Dynamite's approach. It looks like another bust to me right now.
HelaGood - 3/9/2012, 7:35 AM
i think he will utter "JESUS CHRIST, TONTO, THERE IS A [frick]ING BIRD ON YOUR HEAD!!!"
Sanderman - 3/9/2012, 7:50 AM

nhalden - 3/9/2012, 12:06 PM
Hi yo silver? I always thought is was Hi Ho Silver...so I'll have to say NO...he won't
claybo4131 - 3/9/2012, 12:23 PM
Will Arm & Hammer have his voice dubbed over like what happened to Klinton Spilsbury in the horrible rendition of the Lone Ranger that came out in 1981? Yup, Spilsbury got in a fight during production and hurt his jaw and had his entire dialogue dubbed by James Keech.

Spilsbury's performance was so bad, it was his first film, AND HIS LAST.

The production company also screwed over Clayton Moore. They would not allow him to even appear in the movie. Also, Moore use to run out on Silver usually on Opening Day at Texas Rangers games at the old Arlington Stadium & on other promotional dates. But because the studio also owned the rights for the mask, Moore was not allowed to wear the mask when he appeared at Texas Rangers games, instead he wore sunglasses.

So I do not know why they are doing this film when the last one was a worse disaster than the Hindenburg.

I always thought it was Hi-Ho Silver? And I think it's a guarantee that will hear it. It's too iconic to not use.

Ugh, the synopsis needs to be PC. It should be Native American scout, not Indian scout.

@SUPERMAN2013 :)
