UPDATE! SDCC '14: Hayley Atwell Discusses Marvel's AGENT CARTER; Directors Announced

Update! Marvel interviewed 'Peggy Carter' herself, Hayley Atwell ("Captain America: The Winter Soldier"). Come check that out as well as a video with the complete Agent Carter Comic-Con panel.

At the San Diego Comic-Con panel for Marvel's Agent Carter the big reveal was which directors were coming on board to direct the first episodes of the ABC television series. Marvel Studios co-president Louis D'Esposito is directing the pilot. The second and third episodes will be directed by the Russo Brothers ("Captain America: The First Avenger"), who are quite familiar with the television format as they made their mark directing the paintball episodes for NBC's Community. But perhaps the biggest surprise is that Joe Johnston, who directed the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger wants to direct the fourth episode. This would dispell rumors of conflict between him and Marvel.
MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER - starring Captain America's Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life--Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," along with the short "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter." Starring Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter. It is executive produced by Christopher Markus, Steve McFeely, Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Jeph Loeb.

I love the idea for this show. Since Cap is in present day, it's impossible to revisit the characters from the first film without doing this, which is great because the characters needed more development.
blackandyellow - 7/25/2014, 3:13 PM
Just wear a tight, low-cut shirt and pose for the cameras. No need to talk.
Maven - 7/25/2014, 3:14 PM

Loeb's in this video?

Pass. Sorry Hayley.
WhiteSAMURAI - 7/25/2014, 3:15 PM
I still have mixed feelings for this show but it sounds a lot more interesting premise than Agents of Shield. At least this has a nostalgic 40s vibe going for it.
EhMaybeSays - 7/25/2014, 3:16 PM
Too many dicks in here.
DannyRand1225 - 7/25/2014, 3:19 PM

UltimateCookie - 7/25/2014, 3:20 PM
Gonna watch.
DannyRand1225 - 7/25/2014, 3:22 PM
also been following the tweets..ep 2 and 3 is going to be directed by THE RUSSOS and EP 4 may be directed by JOE JOHNSTON(which means he is on good terms with Marvel)
GodzillaKart - 7/25/2014, 3:22 PM
I think this show has the potential to be the best CBTV show out there. I hope they do it right!
Abary - 7/25/2014, 3:22 PM
Russo Bros directing episode 2 and 3! [frick] YES! Best news all day!
JoJo1982 - 7/25/2014, 3:25 PM
They teased that they will be more strong females on the show

Villains too
FordEl - 7/25/2014, 3:29 PM
Im actually excited for this show. Especially the Russo Brothers.
Maven - 7/25/2014, 3:30 PM
Johnston AND the Russos? Count me in.
ALegendaryPanda - 7/25/2014, 3:30 PM
The Russo Brothers are directing two episodes??? Oh hell yeah!!
RobertLiefeld - 7/25/2014, 3:30 PM
I have no interest in a Agent Carter series. Wouldn't it just be Agents of Shield 50 years earlier? Agents of Shield is terrible and it is set in present times. Why would I want to watch the same thing except in the past?

A lot of these actors want these minor roles to help break them into movies, not relegate them to tv. I wonder if contracts to play these minor roles have a mandatory t.v. show clause in case Marvel decides they want their character to be involved in a tv show.
JoJo1982 - 7/25/2014, 3:31 PM
Ward up here with his Hydra shirt on
ALegendaryPanda - 7/25/2014, 3:31 PM
I wasn't even that interested in this show before, but I'm definitely checking it out now!
SonOfOdor - 7/25/2014, 3:32 PM
Nice! Some great talent behind the camera!
SpiderFraud - 7/25/2014, 3:35 PM
Other than being a female lead show, nothing else is making me interested.

Seems like a waste of space.
charlie2094 - 7/25/2014, 3:37 PM
Pretty awesome that Johnston and the Russo's are both directing episodes! So glad this is only a short season, much better
McNyagano - 7/25/2014, 3:37 PM
I hope we get to see how the infiltration of Shield began. That would be interesting to see as well.
Canary - 7/25/2014, 3:38 PM
I agree AlphaAndDecima - it just keeps getting more exciting...
CommanderShepard - 7/25/2014, 3:40 PM

Good directors....but Jeph Loeb, no thanks.
dellamorte1872 - 7/25/2014, 3:41 PM
I think this sounds really stupid, I don't have ANY interest in AOS And this seems like the prequel to that very show and concept. Why do they think this will be a ratings magnet when AOS barely got renewed for another season. It had the weakest ratings other than when MARVEL films tied into it
DrKinsolving - 7/25/2014, 3:43 PM
The Russo Bros and Johnston episodes sound cool, and I like Hayley so I'll definitely give this a chance, not sure what to expect though
AsgardianHobo - 7/25/2014, 3:44 PM

AoS's ratings were actually pretty damn good if you look at them. But it just seems like the ratings were super low because the show's pilot started with AMAZING viewer numbers.
WhiteSAMURAI - 7/25/2014, 3:45 PM
Hayley Atwell > Clark Gregg. I think that's all we need to know that this show is most likely going to be better than AoS.
DrKinsolving - 7/25/2014, 3:46 PM

Really? Other than Game of Thrones and some major sitcoms, I'm out of the Tv world.... I saw some episodes of AOS and they were entertaining. I thought the series was popular and that's why it got renewed
sameoldthing - 7/25/2014, 3:47 PM

Hey...you can't possibly be "THE" Rob Liefeld can you?
I saw he's a Twitter bitch making comments about stuff he has business talking about.
Like comics & comic art...4 year olds scribbling in coloring books have more talent. You may be on here too.

Oops..if it's really you just ignore what I said & cut off your hands please.
AsgardianHobo - 7/25/2014, 3:49 PM
AoS also has great DVR numbers

take out the sitcoms, and you have some good shows
KINGPEN266 - 7/25/2014, 3:50 PM
sameoldthing - 7/25/2014, 3:50 PM
Liefeld has NO business talking about comics...I typo'd.
dellamorte1872 - 7/25/2014, 3:52 PM
It struggled for ratings a lot, couldn't find the right formula. Writers were even changed mid season I believe. None of which sounds very positive, glad y'all liked it but it just does not intrigue me and neither does this. COULSON shoulda stayed dead!
DannyRand1225 - 7/25/2014, 3:55 PM
FOR AOS ,lucy lawless will be veteran shield agent, Isabel Hartly, a new character called Lance Hunter who is a Captain Britain supporting character will be in the show too and the BIG BAD of the season will be Daniel Whitehall aka Kraken who was inthe secret warriors comic and h will be played by Reed Diamond
wcwpoet - 7/25/2014, 3:56 PM
That's an impressive director's line up I'm looking forward to this.
RobertLiefeld - 7/25/2014, 3:56 PM

Ow. That cut deep, man. Why would you say such hurtful things? I guess you must have a hard on for Peggy Carter or something.
KINGPEN266 - 7/25/2014, 3:57 PM
pintoman - 7/25/2014, 3:57 PM
I actually have a lot of interest in this show. An authentic post WWII vibe would be comforting to watch. Big bands.

Is Carter Tony Stark's mom?
GodzillaKart - 7/25/2014, 3:58 PM
kakinurmawth - 7/25/2014, 3:59 PM
Anything with this in it, I want to watch
