AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 Is Heading To The Writing Room

To all the haters of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., tough! The second season of the show has headed into the writing stage, for its upcoming premiere this September. After the jump, you can take a quick peek at the writer's room!

Many people were not fans of Marvel's first season of their live-action show, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I however, liked the later episodes of the season, and am greatly looking forward to it's second shot on the air this September. The show's Facebook page has released a new shot, teasing the writer's room, as it seems the writing team is heading back to the production stage. Take a look below!

In the wake of The Battle of New York, the world has changed forever. An extraordinary landscape of wonders has been revealed! In response, mysteriously resurrected Agent Phil Coulson assembles an elite team of skilled agents and operatives: Melinda May, Grant Ward, Leo Fitz, Jemma Simmons and new recruit/computer hacker Skye. Together, they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. But every answer unearths even more tantalizing questions that reverberate across the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe: Who is "The Clairvoyant”? What is Hydra’s sinister master plan? What dark secret lies behind Skye’s puzzling origins? And most importantly of all, who can be trusted?

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Agent Grand Ward, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz and Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons.

Good, I guess?
PsychoManiacJacky - 7/2/2014, 1:04 PM
This is officially the greatest article to ever be posted on CBM, I salute you good sir!

Pedrito - 7/2/2014, 1:05 PM
No, batz. This is bad news. I think.
Abary - 7/2/2014, 1:08 PM
You'd think that they would have already written the season 2 premiere. Nope...
MercwithMouth - 7/2/2014, 1:16 PM

Comedian03 - 7/2/2014, 1:26 PM
Because most shows that premiere in the fall, start shooting within the next couple of weeks.
MercwithMouth - 7/2/2014, 1:31 PM

Well, that still seems within the proper timeframe. I doubt it takes more than a few days to write an episode, especially if they already have a season outline...
anthonyEstark - 7/2/2014, 1:35 PM
Sorry @PsychoManiacJacky, I was busy. Working on it now...
anthonyEstark - 7/2/2014, 1:36 PM
Oh, and by the way @JoshWilding...

marvel72 - 7/2/2014, 1:37 PM
first series started out okay but got a lot better from about the halfway point,so i'm hoping series two starts off as well as the second half of season one.
Floke - 7/2/2014, 1:38 PM
What? The entire season 2 is heading to the writers room? I dont get it. How can a seasone go into a room and what is it going to do while it is there? This is very confusing.
YeezusWept - 7/2/2014, 2:04 PM
Is it too late to grab the popcorn?
shamo - 7/2/2014, 2:05 PM
Mediocre ass show.
GodzillaKart - 7/2/2014, 2:08 PM
If season 2 is written as well as the last 6 or so episodes, great.

It started out pretty bad, but by the end the acting and dialogue was putting Arrow to shame....although the action in Arrow is better by leaps and bounds.

Regardless, the pilot of Flash was better than the pilots for either Arrow or AoS. That's the one I have highest hopes for.
McNyagano - 7/2/2014, 2:11 PM
Yes. Haters gonna hate;)
themidnightking - 7/2/2014, 2:12 PM
I am crazy excited for season 2 lol
themidnightking - 7/2/2014, 2:12 PM
You and that damn gif! :-)
Nomis - 7/2/2014, 2:13 PM
While I didn't dislike the show,it was not as compelling or intriguing as it was after the 'Winter Soldier' movie came out.

If they are going to retain the audience they have and hopefully gain newer ones, they are going to have to keep the viewers on the edge of their seat with twist that constanly keep us guessing which way the show or characters on it will turn.

If they do the show where the team just goes in and stop the "villain of the week" then it won't last.
themidnightking - 7/2/2014, 2:14 PM
Agents of SHIELD, Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Constantine, & Community! My fall is gonna be busy!
themidnightking - 7/2/2014, 2:15 PM
Hopefully there won't be long ass breaks in between episodes too
Nomis - 7/2/2014, 2:17 PM
@ themidnightking - yeah, that won't help either.
MercwithMouth - 7/2/2014, 2:17 PM

Season-long arcs are a huge part of AoS...

Season 1 - Centipede, the Clairvoyant, Mike Peterson/Deathlok, Coulson resurrection, Skye's parental mystery...

They just don't shove the connections down your throat every single episode. They put shit inbetween, and they connect things subtly. It's one of the things I love about AoS.
MercwithMouth - 7/2/2014, 2:19 PM

The season will be split in 2 parts. If I remember correctly, there will be 10 episodes, then a break while Agent Carter runs for 8 weeks, and then AoS will continue with it's final 12 episodes of the season.
MercwithMouth - 7/2/2014, 2:19 PM

Care to elaborate? Or just a baseless complaint?

masochists amuse me.

Agents of Sh!t is a joke. Not that I give a crap about Marvel, but them saying that it tied into their "cinematic universe" was disingenuous at best. All it really did was play into moments from the movies, like a glorified highlight reel. Otherwise, it barely had anything to do with the movies in any real, organic way.

For that matter, it had little to do with the comics, either. People watch comic book movies and shows for the actual comic book characters. This should only had a bunch of Z-list characters, that nobody gave 2-ish's about. And most of them weren't even superheroes.

Marvel painted themselves into a corner with this show. They barely limped thru the first season, and IMO, the only reason they green-lit a second seasons is A) to spite DC, since they knew DC was going to slaughter them on the TV side of things, and B) to save face, because they knew this show was a FAIL.

Try as they might, they couldn't capture the "magic" from the movies with this show, and they knew it. Which is why the people attached to the show were calling the fans "losers and haters" because the fanbase was thoroughly dissatisfied with the show.

So what does Marvel do? try to bribe the fans with 30-second clips of Samuel L Fury, and Robert Downey Stark. When that failed, they intro'd Agent Coulson's GF (ooohhh, intriguing!!). When that flopped, they brought in Lazer-Tag Armor Deathlok, which failed even worse.

I say again: Marvel might be ahead of the game with the movies (for now), but DC is SLAUGHTERING them when it comes to live action. They always have, all the way back to the 50's.

And it's only going to get worse; DC will have as many as 5 shows on TV by the end of this year, with more on the way (and nearly all featuring major characters), and all Marvel will have is Agents of Sh!t, and Welcome Back (Agent) Carter, which nobody is excited to see.

What a joke.
blvdnoise - 7/2/2014, 2:21 PM
Some re-writing in preps for shooting?
themidnightking - 7/2/2014, 2:24 PM
That I can deal with. Last season it kept losing momentum because of too many breaks. But since Agent Carter is there as a space filler between its only break, that should keep a lot more people coming back
Ramiel - 7/2/2014, 2:26 PM
I wish this show was as fun as Firefly. Not really excited for this show like I am for Flash and Constantine, who both had enjoyable pilots.
themidnightking - 7/2/2014, 2:27 PM
You mustn't been paying that much attention lol
themidnightking - 7/2/2014, 2:28 PM
I already downloaded the Constantine pilot, and I have yet to watch it for some odd reason

Also, it kills me that people seem to think that Marvel is ahead of the game in comparison to DC, when it comes to multimedia.

The reality is, Marvel is light years behind, and has only begun to caught up, because of the movies.

In the live TV realm, Marvel is sorely lacking, in terms of quality and quantity. DC has been holding that crown for DECADES, while Marvel didn't have a successful TV show since the 80's with the Hulk.

In the animation realm (both in TV series, and animated movies), Marvel is sorely lacking, in terms of quality and quantity. DC has been holding that crown for DECADES.

In the video game realm, Marvel has been sorely lacking. They started out strong, but faultered along the way, and now DC has picked up the torch and ran with it.

Comics-wise, I'd say they are neck and neck. Marvel only ekes out a lead, but that's only because of their constant gimmicks (variant covers, never-ending events, constant relaunches/"All New #1's", higher prices, etc). If you take away all of that, I'd say Marvel and DC are about even--perhaps even with DC coming out with a slight lead.

So the only thing Marvel has as a true success, is the movies. But that's because they've put all their eggs in the movie basket, and neglected all other forms of multimedia.

AND, let's not get it twisted; Marvel has WAY more 'FAILS' than DC does when it comes to movies.

Spidey 3 -- FAIL
Blade Trinity -- FAIL
X3 -- FAIL
Ghost Rider 1 & 2 -- FAIL
FF 1 & 2 -- FAIL
First Wolvie movie -- FAIL
Punisher 1 & 2 -- FAIL
First Hulk movie -- FAIL

What are DC's worse movie failures?

Jonah Hex
Superman Returns

That's 5 DC fails, vs Marvel's 12.

And let's face it, some of these "MCU" films are mediocre at best, but people are afraid to admit it.

You guys can't afford me ;)
SpideyQuad - 7/2/2014, 2:35 PM
Seems to me that you're the "Joke" writing multiple paragraphs about something you supposedly don't care about. WB much?

SAMURAI36 - 7/2/2014, 2:36 PM

Paying attention to what, exactly?
MercwithMouth - 7/2/2014, 2:36 PM
Who is this SAMURAI guy? Lol, every single thing he said was stupid, or completely fabricated.

To list...

Tied into Cap2 extremely well, and even named a new director of SHIELD
Lack of superheroes? Not a superhero show, considering the tag line was 'not all heroes are super'
Limped through the season? Hmmm...number 1 in Tuesday prime time for 18-34yr old demo...most important demo in TV.
Oh no!!! Cameos!!! And RDJ never appeared on AoS...if you're gonna troll, get your facts straight.
DC slaughtering them? AoS ratings crush Arrow ratings...not that Arrow is a bad show
Marvel also has Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones on the way.

What a dumbass...
themidnightking - 7/2/2014, 2:37 PM
Uh-oh, @SAMURAI is bringing the flame
SAMURAI36 - 7/2/2014, 2:38 PM
@ Spidey:

Do I "WB" (Warner Bros??) Much? Why, yes, I do.

But I see you didn't refute any of what I said, and that's because you CAN'T. Stop making this personal about me, and try sticking to the topic.
themidnightking - 7/2/2014, 2:38 PM
Deathlok in AOS, it's been hinted at since earlier in the season
