First Look At Lucy Lawless As 'Agent Isabelle Hartley' In AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for a second season on September 23rd, and as well as the small screen debut of The Absorbing Man, the premiere will also feature Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless as newly created character Agent Isabelle Hartley. Check out a first look here!

The cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has grown a fair bit for its second season, and one of the most exciting casting additions is Lucy Lawless. She is of course best known for her roles in Xena: Warrior Princess and Battlestar Galactica. According to Marvel, Lawless will join up with Director Coulson's team as Agent Hartley, a seasoned S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran helping to rebuild the organization.

Be sure to click here for a first look at Brian Patrick Wade as The Absorbing Man in the season premiere. Who's playing Mockingbird? Well, you can find that out right here.

I wonder how they will go about finding agents to trust. I'm sure Hydra is still floating around pretending to be good SHIELD agents.

I hope we can get a name drop for SWORD this season. It'll be a while b4 there is a need to show or mention them in the movies.
JoJo1982 - 8/26/2014, 12:26 PM
She's still bang able
JoJo1982 - 8/26/2014, 12:30 PM
I hope ABC and marvel studio announce another show after next season(SWORD hopefully)

With big screen movies, netflix shows, and tv shows..... The MCU is getting bigger and bigger every year, no other studio has ever done this!!!! EVER!!!

My first look at Lucy resulted in a lot of white gravy in my pants.

...That's how I became a man.
Pheezmatic - 8/26/2014, 12:33 PM
she looks mad motherish...
gambgel - 8/26/2014, 12:33 PM
Id like to see Marvel Studios adressing this whole Shield tv show world on the actual movies.

Now that Shield enters its second season, its about time the movies show some connection, at least the Cap movies, so would be nice to see in Cap 3 a few characters from this show, at least Coulson, MOckinbird and someone else to make us believe all these things happen in the same universe.
Battabing - 8/26/2014, 12:35 PM
@jojo, can you say that about a woman you're not banging? Hahaha!

@gambgel, the actors on the TV show are terrible. I wouldn't want them that close to the cinematic offerings.
typicalfanboy - 8/26/2014, 12:37 PM
Yep that's her. Spot on. Marvel strikes gold, again.(sarcasm)
Doopie - 8/26/2014, 12:37 PM
I hope she brings out the throwing disc thing she had in Xena. and does the battle cry
TelaVizion - 8/26/2014, 12:39 PM
Gambgel, remember that Coulson is still "dead" to everyone. Even Cap.

That should have been revealed in Cap 2, considering Steve was getting angry with Fury over his many secrets.

[frick] ya mother [frick]ers! Love Lucy Lawless since I was a wee baby gay.

When are we gonna get some actual footage of Season 2? It's less than a month away.
SuperCat - 8/26/2014, 12:44 PM
Yep, she can still get it.
ChiliConCarney - 8/26/2014, 12:44 PM
Hail H-

MrLoki - 8/26/2014, 12:48 PM
I hope she plays Victoria Hand's girlfriend! It would be awesome!
Inhuman - 8/26/2014, 12:56 PM
I loved seeing her naked in Spartacus ^_^
homodrome - 8/26/2014, 12:58 PM

If she doesn't than I might give up on this show. And I am literally it's biggest defender. I [frick]ing love it. I don't even hate Skye. But if they don't make Lucy's Isabelle THAT Isabelle than I might have to quit this bitch.
Lemons - 8/26/2014, 1:04 PM
Yay another generic looking agent! Wish they had more exciting characters.

Hellboy6666 - 8/26/2014, 1:13 PM
Still want her to dominate me.
COREY6487 - 8/26/2014, 1:16 PM
:'( what happened to her??? i used to watch xena and hercules with my dad when i was younger hahahaha
blackandyellow - 8/26/2014, 1:22 PM
I've never found her attractive. She reminds me of Chyna.
dancingmonkey08 - 8/26/2014, 1:22 PM
cool, cant wait to see Xena fight alongside SHIELD haha

Im re-watching all of Season 1 at the minute, and I still agree with the general opinion, the first half is unwatchable sometimes. This is due to mostly filler first half of the season & a terrible loose tie-in episode to Thor 2 (the Sif episode would have been far superior).

And I wouldnt have minded the filler episodes as I agree with the producer's opinion, it takes a while to build up the story over the first half of a season...but in superior shows, they at least have interesting characters and well-written & interesting stories to keep us going until the story arc picks up...not Agents of SHIELD though. We were stuck with almost CW-level (and Im talking bad CW, not good CW like Supernatural and Arrow) Skye, the annoying antics of Fitz and Simmons (that goddamn prank episode nearly made me stop watching), the barely passable Coulson and the hardass May & Ward with all the personality of a brick wall

But, I will give the show credit, because suddenly from Episode 10 onwards, the show shook of its silly beginnings and rose to a much more interesting level, with the story arc ramping up, the characters actually developing into more likable people because they were responding to the story arc and slightly better writing and ACTUAL DANGER was introduced...when Skye was shot, I was utterly shocked. and then the couple of filler episodes were damn interesting because it connected to the overall Marvel Universe and included actual Marvel characters like Sif and Lorelei.

THIS IS THE MODEL TO USE FOR THE NEW SEASON, focus most of it on re-building SHIELD, hunting different factions of HYDRA, finding out the truth about Skye & her alien past and using the filler episodes to chart other events going on in the Marvel Universe (be it film or non-film events)

Im hoping we get 5 to 8 seasons of the show, Season 2 and 3 could be about re-building SHIELD, keeping ahead of the authorities, fighting the more secret factions of HYDRA (while the Avengers take out the more immediate HYDRA threats such as Von Strucker). Then if Captain America defeats the HYDRA leadership in Cap 3, have Season 4 and 5 be about SHIELD taking on the last of the remaining left-over HYDRA threats who are dangerous because they are HYDRA pushed into a corner. Then if the show survives that long, have the final remnants of HYDRA put a contingency plan into action that creates or releases superpowered individuals or something like that, so SHIELD has something to fight in Season 6 to 8

AND OVERALL, have the entire show be about re-building SHIELD. SHIELD shouldnt return to its former level of large-scale operations until the finale of the final season. then the movies can re-introduce the new SHIELD years from now, which has been re-building in the background (for people who dont watch AOS)

Apologies for the long rant, Im just in a very Agents of SHIELD-mood right now
MrLoki - 8/26/2014, 1:24 PM

I think I'll still love the show, but I really, really want it to happen. I'd love to see her having her own agenta. It'll be nice if she tries to go after Ward, if she wants to revenge her fallen lover.
And btw, they could STILL bring Victoria Hand back. It's a sci-fi show, they could always find a way... I don't think they'll do it, though.
MsDarkPhoenix - 8/26/2014, 1:25 PM
She got old...
dancingmonkey08 - 8/26/2014, 1:27 PM
and those goddamn constant Avengers reference annoyed the hell out of me every bloody episode too....I mean Coulson, just because you have a elevated amount of iron in your blood, DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE TO MAKE AN IRON MAN REFERENCE...and so on. another thing I was happy to see less off in the second half of the season, references were only made when they made sense
JoJo1982 - 8/26/2014, 1:30 PM
When will the trailer for season 2 come out?
Joementum - 8/26/2014, 1:34 PM
When will her character come out?

I'd hit it.
What the hell?
I'm drunk 24/7.
ElBicho - 8/26/2014, 1:49 PM
Dear mercy. I would still pound that like yesterday's beef...
Kyos - 8/26/2014, 1:49 PM
Well, we'll see what she brings to AoS. And what AoS as a whole brings in the new season. I'm still hopeful.

Hm, I really liked her in Spartacus, although she had her role one season too long. But 'Vengeance' was the... least good in any way.

SAMURAI36 - 8/26/2014, 1:51 PM

I'don't love an AOU crossover, where Colson tracks down Von Strucker, only to be overpowered. He tells Hill, she notifies Tony and that's where AOU starts. Pretty simple way to provide back story without wasting precious movie time.

I'd love if AOU starts just like TWS, with a debriefing on the way to the scene with Cap calling out orders to Avengers instead of SHIELD agents.
Badmuffin - 8/26/2014, 1:54 PM
Well...actually is not the best shot that they can take of her... The face is a little *wtf?"
batz11 - 8/26/2014, 1:57 PM
She was great (naked) on Spartacus, really, her and John Hannah were awesome on that show...
