Another new clip from DC Animation's The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 (the first part of an adaptation of Frank Miller's acclaimed graphic novel) has been released, featuring Bruce Wayne (Peter Weller) rediscovering the Batcave. Check it out after the jump.

It's been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with race cars and liquor – but the bat still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants.

The return of Harvey Dent as Two-Face finally prompts Wayne to once again don the Dark Knight’s cowl, and his dramatic capture of the villain returns him to crime-fighting – simultaneously making him the target of law enforcement and the new hope for a desolate Gotham City. Particularly inspired is a teenage girl named Carrie, who adopts the persona of Robin and ultimately saves Batman from a brutal attack by the Mutant leader. Armed with a new sidekick, and re-energized with a definitive purpose, the Dark Knight returns to protect Gotham from foes new...and old.

The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 is set to hit DVD, Blu-Ray, Download and OnDemmand September 25th. Part 2 will be available in early 2013.

You know, I heard that this story may've had a hand in the fans voting for Jason Todd's death, since it was released before "A Death in the Family". Food for thought.
RexBlazer1 - 9/7/2012, 2:40 PM
1. The Dark Knight Returns says that Jason Todd dies.
2. Later, fans vote for Jason's death, and we get "A Death in the Family".
3. Tim Drake of Batman: TAS is a combination of himself and Jason Todd.
4. In "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker" Tim is tortured in a similar manner to Jason, but instead of dying, becomes a Joker Jr. Years later, he's grown up and is unknowningly the second Joker.
5. The idea of a former Robin becoming a second Joker is used again in "The Dark Knight Strikes Again", only this time with Dick Grayson.

Crazy huh?

Can Not Wait. DC animation never disappoints Even their worst movie is still top notch.
DioFoRio - 9/7/2012, 3:12 PM
@Rex never knew it went down that way. I thought it was vice versa.
RexBlazer1 - 9/7/2012, 3:14 PM
@Dionysios, well, that's what happened.
TheBigBoss917 - 9/7/2012, 3:16 PM
DYK Even though Miller wrote this story before A Death in the Family he was upset that Robin was killed in that story.
RexBlazer1 - 9/7/2012, 3:17 PM
@TheBigBoss917, I didn't know that.
superpooper - 9/7/2012, 3:36 PM

mattboesch8907 - 9/7/2012, 3:43 PM

GoILL - 9/7/2012, 3:44 PM

Oh yeah i'm familiar with those. I thought you might've seen something online that detailed what would be included, they have this listed about 5 or six times with different prices so i'm guessing one of those will have something extra.
KnobGoblin - 9/7/2012, 3:59 PM

Action - 9/8/2012, 12:08 AM
Andrea Ramano did a great job with casting the voice of Bruce Wayne. Go Robocop!

ColonelKilgore - 9/8/2012, 12:08 AM
I'll wait for redbox, if its any good I will wait for the blu ray combo when part 2 comes out
Mego - 9/8/2012, 12:11 AM
Both voices were not only miscast, they didnt sound like they were being spoken in the environment but like they were rehearsed studio recordings.
I actually havent seen that problem in such a release before.
ColonelKilgore - 9/8/2012, 12:30 AM
@darkmetal-I see where you're coming from.
Alfred seems flat and Batman sounds like a bad impression of Kevin Conroy but its Robocop trying to do a stern, asshole-ish Bats, just like Miller wrote.

BTW, I hope to shout they do not do Dark Knight Strikes Again. Garbage story
DC4everLantern - 9/8/2012, 3:58 AM
Oh heck no i dont wear that!!!
Blair2012 - 9/10/2012, 12:36 PM
Anybody else think that Bruce Willis would make a perfect lead for a live-action version of this?
