WB's The Lego Movie erupted at the box office again burying it's competition under a thick layer of ash and debris. Money didn't flow into Paul W.S. Anderson's Pompeii and McG's 3 Days to Kill.

Everything is still awesome for The Lego Movie. It was #1 at the box office for a third straight weekend. It added another $31 million to its domestic tally. The 3D animated film based on children's building blocks now has a domestic cume north of $180 million.

The two newcomers, McG's 3 Days to Kill and Paul W.S. Anderson's Pompeii, placed second and third at the box office. 3 Days to Kill, which stars Kevin Costner, Amber Heard, Hailee Steinfeld and Connie Nielsen, pulled in $12 million for the weekend. Which to be fair, isn't bad at all when you measure it against a modest budget of $28 million. While Pompeii finished in third with $10 million. The film uses the historical eruption of Mount Vesuvius as its backdrop to a fictional love story. It stars: Kit Harington, Carrie-Anne Moss, Emily Browning, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jessica Lucas, and cost over $100 million to produce. Both films earned a B CinemaScore, which is fine, but it's not the type of score that earns good word-of-mouth.

“The LEGO® Movie,” the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO® adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, opens in theaters February 7, 2014. Directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (“21 Jump Street,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”), it stars Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Charlie Day, with Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman.

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

charlie2094 - 2/23/2014, 11:36 AM

Probably won't have too big an impact, hardly the same audience...probably continue going for a little while longer

Haven't yet seen the movie, but heard lots of good stuff about it, will definitely see it at some stage
SuperCat - 2/23/2014, 11:42 AM
Lol! Nice headline.
WorstUserNameEver - 2/23/2014, 11:46 AM
I bet that Disney hate Lego.
ALegendaryPanda - 2/23/2014, 11:47 AM
The Lego Movie and Lone Survivor are the only movies I've seen in theaters this year so far, can 300 please come out already? Or better yet, can we just skip to April?
SauronsBANE - 2/23/2014, 11:54 AM
I haven't seen The Lego Movie yet (though I've been meaning to), but I just had to comment and say that headline is epic! Haha great stuff, nail!
anthonyEstark - 2/23/2014, 11:57 AM
Haha, great headline.
batcheeks8 - 2/23/2014, 12:00 PM
I wanted to go catch it but there seemingly isn't a single cinema in the Netherlands that isn't screening the Dutch version exclusively.. so it's gonna be a download for me.
dckizzle - 2/23/2014, 12:00 PM
Sweet dc
Platinum - 2/23/2014, 12:02 PM
Saw Pompeii and it is indeed a movie and that is pretty much it.
Bekss - 2/23/2014, 12:03 PM
Lego movie is not doing great overseas. It will make a lot in USA but I don't think it will pass 500 million
ALmazing - 2/23/2014, 12:04 PM
Who keeps giving Paul WS Anderson money to make movies?
charlie2094 - 2/23/2014, 12:06 PM

It's still got quite a lot of markets left to open in overseas (10+) so should make up for it, just has quite a staggered release
pesmerga44 - 2/23/2014, 12:07 PM
Saw Lego movie loved it and it deserves all the praise it is getting and I hope it continues to rake in the money.
Platinum - 2/23/2014, 12:09 PM
It's funny seeing McG and Paul W.S. fight for the #2 spot though.
ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:09 PM
Ultimatesuperman-i doubt that, there isnt much buzz around it and alot of people, the ones i have seen ,seem largely unimpressed by it,i think lego ovie is gonna be on top for alittle while
Spidey91 - 2/23/2014, 12:10 PM

I love that song LOL
ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:13 PM
oh man Chris Pratt might have two catchy songs in his films this year

ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:15 PM
he might become Like Javier Bardem,in which they have clauses in their contract,Javier Bardem is that in pretty much every movie he does, he has a weird hairdo, chris pratts clause is i need a really catchy song in the movie, expect one in jurassic world
marvel72 - 2/23/2014, 12:18 PM
this movie really doesn't intrest me in the slightest, best movies of 2014 so far are the wolf of wall street & american hustle.
MercwithMouth - 2/23/2014, 12:19 PM
Good for Lego. I wish I wanted to see it, but the desire is just not there.
ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:20 PM
man ,my first film of the year was the lego movie which was great,i loved it!!, then i saw robocop out of curiosity which i thought was good surprisingly, nothing else seems big or even looks good which is why i think the lego movie is gonna remain on top until Muppets or Cap
ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:20 PM
Merc-check it out at home, i think u will enjoy it
MercwithMouth - 2/23/2014, 12:21 PM

Both of those movies came out in 2013...
MercwithMouth - 2/23/2014, 12:22 PM

Doubtful. Not a fan of kids' movies these days. And my son is still too young to sit through a whole movie at the theatre.
BlackIceJoe - 2/23/2014, 12:24 PM
Why am I not surprised the Lego movie is doing great. Who doesn't love Lego? As for the movie Pompeii it didn't interest me. You know they all have to die at the end. It was an air explosion not a lava explosion. So all the air was cooked and anything in its way was vaporized or solidified. The ash would turn the peoples bodies into stone. Plus the island imploded. So the only thing going for the movie was the cool effects at the end of the film. The film did have some good actors though. I will give it that. I will take a look at it though when it comes out on DVD. Just for the effects. It just isn't anything I need to see right now.

I wish Emily Browning would take part in better films. It seems like all she is mostly in turn out to be flops. Her biggest mistakes for her career was turning down staring in Twilight. The series is just awful and bland. But for a career move was a bad one. Because most likely she would be in more movies now.

I myself haven't got a chance to see the Lego movie yet. But I plan on it. I maybe closer to thirty then twenty but I still enjoy the Lego brand. So I have to see this movie. I love claymation films and this is kind of like that. Just instead of clay they used Lego.
ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:24 PM
Mercwithamouth-im not either, they seems to be too much garbage coming out,i still need to see frozen, this is easily the best animated film i have seen since toy story 3
NicolausCopernicus - 2/23/2014, 12:25 PM
jonah hill should voice green lantern more often
ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:26 PM
as a fan of green lantern,i was upset about his portrayal but it works well in the film
MercwithMouth - 2/23/2014, 12:28 PM
I hated Toy Story 3. My son has maned me watch it dozens of times. The original Toy Story was great, and a huge achievement for it's time. But animated stuff generally fades with sequels. My son's favorite series is The Land Before Time. I remember the first 3 movies when I was a little kid, but now there's like 13 of them, and they're all terrible after #3. Shrek has the same problem. 1st one was amazing, beautiful subtle humour for the adults, and awesome cgi. But the sequels are awful. Madagascar, same problems.
ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:29 PM
mercwithmouth-ah well to each his own ,on the upside, with the guardians trailer now been shown hat are u now looking forward to in cap, guardians, xmen and spidey?
Ranger14 - 2/23/2014, 12:30 PM
Shouldn't come as much of a surprise. It's playing in over a thousand more theaters than the others and the others aren't exactly what I would call major competition. Looked at going to a film with a friend a week ago and there wasn't anything that really interested us that much.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 2/23/2014, 12:30 PM
Pomeii is a very interesting story. What a waste of potential
421YoloSwag - 2/23/2014, 12:33 PM
who gives a shit about legos dat shit is 4 kids pompei was amazing watching dat mountain explode in 3d was da tits #3d #pompei #toysrforkids
ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:36 PM
BLACKICEJOE-speaking of pompeii, christ, is there a bunch of crappy films coming up, we get non stop next week which doesnt look very good to me,300 rise of an empire ..ehhhhh, mr peabody and sherman..looks awful, need for speed,i love aaron paul but zero interest, divergent looks like young adult franchise no#275,it looks kinda bland and generic to me,muppets looks fun but my interest just isnt there,i will definitely catch that at home, noah isnt even clicking with me,i dont two shits about sabotage, the raid 2 looks incredible but since it is a foreign action film,i dont think many theaters will hold it so its Cap for me
ezio619 - 2/23/2014, 12:39 PM
doctor who episode" fires of pompeii" does amuch better job of showing the destruction of pompeii while telling a compelling and engaging story
nighteagle - 2/23/2014, 12:43 PM
