Cartoon Network Breaks Their Silence On YOUNG JUSTICE And GLTAS Cancellations

There are a lot of distraught fans thanks to Cartoon Network and their cancellation of popular Saturday morning cartoons Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The network has finally issued a statement. Click here to see what they had to say.

More and more is slowly coming out in regards to Cartoon Network cancelling Green Lantern: The Animated Series, as well as Young Justice. We have heard from show producers, but now Cartoon Network has released a statement as well. While it doesn't really give an explanation as to why they shows were cancelled, it assures fans that DC Nation isn't going anywhere. Check it out below.

“Thank you to all our fans for expressing just how much they love DC Nation on Cartoon Network. There’s still more new Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series to enjoy in the coming weeks. And DC Nation isn’t going anywhere; there will be plenty of new adventures coming your way later this year.”

So there you have it. It would seem as if they didn't realize how beloved the shows were, and this is just something they threw together to try and put fans at ease. Right now the only two things in the works to replace the shows are Teen Titans Go!, which will debut in April, and Beware The Batman, that will premiere over the Summer. For the latest on DC Nation, make sure to check back here at CBM.

They can go sit on a cactus!!!!!!!!
Masterkalel - 2/1/2013, 12:18 PM

Or heck just a new Superman series is just fine with me, just in time for the new movie

KeefNCookies - 2/1/2013, 12:18 PM
Pathetic. I've never heard anybody say they love "DC NATION" ... they love YJ and GL. Idiots...
StrangerX - 2/1/2013, 12:21 PM
@keef- Not sure if I love DC nation but some of the shorts are cool . They could really make a show out of the Atom short and the batman Japanese anime
RaleighAntrobus - 2/1/2013, 12:21 PM
Aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnddddddddd Cartoon Network can still suck a dick!

They did nothing but dodge around the issue. People love Young Justice and Green Lantern, not D.C. Nation.
CaptainObvious - 2/1/2013, 12:21 PM
"We now hope you enjoy DC Nation starring Batman."
FrozenJoy - 2/1/2013, 12:22 PM
What a bunch of idiots.
McGribble - 2/1/2013, 12:23 PM
the teen titans looks like a kiddy show and will not have the mass appeal that Young Justice had. It was suitable for young kids but also not childish enough to turn older viewers away. The people who made this move have made a poor calculation and it will lose them viewers for sure. Considering the style of Young Justice's animation could easily translate into action figures they missed the boat there. They could have fed that cow and milked it dry. Instead they stopped feeding it and cut the utters off... DUMB!!!
edwardshiro - 2/1/2013, 12:28 PM
We are team!!

SecretApprentice71 - 2/1/2013, 12:31 PM
What the [frick]!! This show is all i watch Saturday mornings! I hope we get a reason why sometime soon, we deserve that much.
DrDoom - 2/1/2013, 12:33 PM
Another example of execs coming out with a statement that says nothing at all.
sintzu - 2/1/2013, 12:33 PM
i have a q :

why cant dc just continue releasing episodes on dvd ? i mean do they have to be on tv ?
Highball - 2/1/2013, 12:33 PM
Execs at Cartoon Network can get bent!
They have no idea when they have quality television in their hands. They're scrambling because they're crashing in the ratings and don't know what to do!
Cancelling quality shows will not get you back on top you idiots!
I hope Green Lantern the Animated Series gets a second chance on a WB network and competes with Cartoon Network and shows them how stupid they were.
But all that's just my anger talking... sigh
Highball - 2/1/2013, 12:34 PM
@ sintzu Exactly! And also digital downloads are getting really popular too.
Same with Netflix who's going to add both these shows to their collection soon.
Maybe that'll change things a bit!
m0th3r - 2/1/2013, 12:35 PM
The guy in charge is easy to find on linkedin..let him know what kind of asshole he is
sintzu - 2/1/2013, 12:35 PM
to Masterkalel :

im sure we will at least get a new justice league animated series to help push the new movie there planing

Highball - 2/1/2013, 12:39 PM
Enough with Batman and Superman, let the other heroes of DC get a little spotlight! How about a quality Flash cartoon series? A show following the exploits of the Corps of Green Lanterns around the universe?
Don't get me wrong, I love Supes and Bats... just, not a good idea to saturate us with the same thing all the time!
randomality85 - 2/1/2013, 12:39 PM
@yossarian, you obviously haven't checked the petitions...

@McGribble, they did make action figures. Problem is that they never advertised any of it and are scratching their heads as to why they didn't sell anything. Case in point, you watch the show and knew nothing about them.

CN and WB are [frick]ing up big time right now. Especially with the whole Legendary/WB thing going on, I'll be surprised if we get another non Batman related movie in the future.
sintzu - 2/1/2013, 12:42 PM
i hope dc makes a good ending for young justice so it wont feel like it got cancelled but rather just ended
Highball - 2/1/2013, 12:42 PM
I'm starting to think it'd be nice if all of DC would be bought by Disney as well. I mean, lesser of two evils right? There's some really good minds working over there, far more creative and respectful than the corporate monkeys at WB!
Malfunk1 - 2/1/2013, 12:42 PM
I could never understand how shows like pokemon and all those others similar to pokemon can stay on for years - like 10+ seasons but shows like batman, justice league, spiderman & other like shows always only stay on for 2-3 seasons. Whats up with that??
JULEZ13 - 2/1/2013, 12:44 PM
Do we really need another Teen Titans show? Like really?? -_-
JULEZ13 - 2/1/2013, 12:46 PM
@Malfunk1: CN gives all the best time slots to their animes and mindless cartoons.

YJ early in the morning?? Nobody wants to get up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons unless you're under the age of 12! smh It's ratings hell!!

Instead of just moving the DC Nation block to a later time they just cancel the shows. smh.... just, smh
TheSoulEater - 2/1/2013, 12:47 PM
Very well....

OnLeatherWings - 2/1/2013, 12:48 PM
F these guys!!! I could care less about "DC Nation". It's the two well put together, mature shows that the fans loved. They just happened to be a part of "DC Nation". hopefully somebody else picks these shows up.
sintzu - 2/1/2013, 12:50 PM
to Highball

please don't say that we don't need dc shows becoming like ultimate spider-man at least young justice is made for kids and adults alike and not 5 year olds only

FirstAvenger - 2/1/2013, 12:51 PM
Least replace it with a JL SHOW.
TheDude - 2/1/2013, 12:51 PM
So basically it's a a big F You! to the fans. Good to know they just don't give a f*ck.
Bunch of douchebags!
WaylonJones - 2/1/2013, 12:54 PM
Levitikuz @ Because no one will finance it. del Torro and the cast are willing, but no one will put up the money for them to make it.
RikiTikiTavi - 2/1/2013, 12:56 PM
about as sincere as Lance Armstrong
Highball - 2/1/2013, 12:59 PM
@ sintzu - True, when it comes to animation, WB knows their shit, creatively... but they really need help when it comes to the decision making! For crying out loud, even Bruce Timm can't make the movies he wants! These people know their shit and someone's telling them "No!"
So to answer what you were asking me sintzu, no, i don't want my DC shows like that ridiculous ultimate Spider-Man show.
I want my Green Lantern series, which made proud to be a Green Lantern fan back!
Darkknight23 - 2/1/2013, 1:04 PM
What the hell...?
TheAbomination - 2/1/2013, 1:05 PM
Hey, at least they responded to the fans, which is more than I can say for that asshole Jeph Loeb when Marvel cancelled EHM.
foxnewssucks - 2/1/2013, 1:06 PM
Green Lantern good and it will be missed. Baby versions of superheroes I never need to see again. I realize some kids in diapers want something to relate to but not me. Batman I will wait too see. Brave and the Bold was pretty bad. If you get Paul Dini and Andrea Romano to do it I am there.
