Did Fan Campaigns Help The Ratings For YOUNG JUSTICE And GREEN LANTERN: TAS?

Fans were outraged at the cancellations and desperate to show the executives at Cartoon Network that Young Justice: Invasion and Green Lantern: The Animated Series both deserved at least one more season. Did their efforts make a difference where it counts?

When word came down that Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series were being cancelled by Cartoon Network fans quickly mobilized to start campaigns to boost viewership in a last ditch effort to get the fan-favorite shows renewed. So did their efforts amount to positive, tangible results? In the case of Young Justice, yes. But for Green Lantern: TAS there was virtually no change in its weekly ratings.

Young Justice: Invasion had an estimated 2.123 million viewers which would be a season high or the show. GL:TAS had an estimated 1.733 million viewers which is about par with what the show usually receives. For comparison, Cartoon Network's popular Adventure Time regularly commands around 3 million viewers per new episode. There are still a few episodes left for both YJ and GL:TAS so if you want to show the network executives they made a mistake, be sure you tune in every Saturday to DC Nation at 10 AM PST/EST.

please save young justice
CavEl - 2/12/2013, 2:35 PM
I'm not watching Beware the Batman or TT...DC can cancel these because they think it's DCNation that's appealing, but it's not!

YJ was amazing, Hal Jordan sucks, but my buddy tells me that that show is good.

Wake the F up, DC/CN/TW/WB!!!

SupermanP33v3 - 2/12/2013, 2:36 PM
The problem is, Ratings would be higher if fans knew they could count on it to be on.
fceeviper - 2/12/2013, 2:38 PM
It's not about the ratings, it's about toys sales for GL and YJ, those sales were doing very poorly. That's why they got cancelled.
batesmotel - 2/12/2013, 2:39 PM
Love both shows but the time slot is horrible. I always sleep through it due to my drunken adventure from the night before
CavEl - 2/12/2013, 2:40 PM
@ LEVITIKUZ - I love you like a brother, but...

Adventure Time rocks.
lntrn8 - 2/12/2013, 2:40 PM
YJ is such a great show with a lot of character depth & great storytelling. I do hope this show stays on the air!
batwing21 - 2/12/2013, 2:41 PM
Paragon79 - 2/12/2013, 2:43 PM
They need not cancel these shows, it's a really bad move.
marvel72 - 2/12/2013, 2:44 PM
cartoon network should of advertised young justice like this.

"see the next thrilling episode in six months"
comicle199 - 2/12/2013, 2:44 PM
then why not take a stand i agree adventure time is shit as is the new ben 10 and most other stuff cartoon network have at the moment yj and gl were the best things they had now that clonewars is going to disney if you all like these two shows as much as me then dont just take a stand against dc but cartoon network aswell teach them that the fans chooose what happens lets lower the adventure time rating not because you dont like the show but to show cn that they arent in charge
comicle199 - 2/12/2013, 2:45 PM
i propose i boycott of an episode to show what we can do
polarkyle - 2/12/2013, 2:45 PM
will someone please explain to me why adventure time is so damn popoular. it had the most annoying advertising ever.
comicle199 - 2/12/2013, 2:46 PM
spread the word, gather force , let the horn of helm hammerhand sound one last time
FirstAvenger - 2/12/2013, 2:47 PM
Nice!!! Save Young Justice & Green Lantern: the Animated series!
comicle199 - 2/12/2013, 2:47 PM

Minato - 2/12/2013, 2:49 PM
Lets make it happen if anyone could we have the power now. THEY ARE PAYING ATTENTION.
comicle199 - 2/12/2013, 2:49 PM
i propose as many posts about why adventure time is the worst show ever as possible
comicle199 - 2/12/2013, 2:50 PM
if we can make galactus listen then we can spread the word and fight the dc/cn alliance
comicle199 - 2/12/2013, 2:52 PM
further more i propose that anyone found supporting adventure time be reported by followers of yj and gl
comicle199 - 2/12/2013, 2:53 PM
they should be reported as crazy psycos
CavEl - 2/12/2013, 2:53 PM
@ polarkyle - It's funny, has a few laughs, but it's kinda dark for a children's show.
FirstAvenger - 2/12/2013, 2:56 PM
Wow @comicle that was deep. Lol
CavEl - 2/12/2013, 2:57 PM
I wonder how many of you saying that Adventure Time sucks have actually watched it...-_-

I'm just going to dance...

CavEl - 2/12/2013, 2:58 PM
@ comicidle - I like both, and Adventure time isn't the reason they're canceling YJ/GL. It's cause of Batman.
JatevinM - 2/12/2013, 3:06 PM
Until you've watched Adventure Time for more than one episode then don't comment
CaptainObvious - 2/12/2013, 3:06 PM
@PatriotsSuperguy- I love Adventure Time, too. But it upsets me that these two shows are being cancelled because WB needs the money to build the United Batman Church.
WruceBayne - 2/12/2013, 3:07 PM
Young justice is the best show that Cartoon Network has ever had. To get rid of Young Justice is like shooting yourself in the foot.
CaptainObvious - 2/12/2013, 3:14 PM
@CubanRaftRider- The only two good shows on Nick are The Legend of Korra and TMNT. Their other shows are obnoxious, annoying cups of piss and SpongeBob has been horrible because the writers never went to school and didn't learn how to write stories.
DrainBamage - 2/12/2013, 3:15 PM
Until we do away with our antiquated ratings system, we can only expect this to happen again and again.

Some family sitting in a living room in Bent Fork, TN or wherever, should not be allowed to represent my TV habits to anyone.
aresww3 - 2/12/2013, 3:16 PM
Go Young Justice, I hope they bury Green Lantern in the dirt where it belongs. I mean what is the 3d bullshit about?
ABLEE337 - 2/12/2013, 3:21 PM
Blackvoid - 2/12/2013, 3:24 PM
OOOOKay.. Everyone bashing Green Lantern because of the animated style, is only hurting themselves. I myself was put off by this style, but after giving it a chance (an open minded chance, something that is hard to find nowadays) the show is really fantastic. Both shows, have great writing, and incredible action.

Green Lantern has a sense of adventure with its planets and space exploration, just a good ride altogether
lanternstorm - 2/12/2013, 3:29 PM
the real problem is, ratings would be higher if it was on slightly later like around 11a central time...I'm going to be 30 years old next month, I don't wanna have to wake up at 8:45a to make sure I get the channel switched over and get my morning lizard draining done as well as find my cigs and take our Dalmation Krypto out before GL:TAS comes on, on a Saturday... Also, another problem is that Cartoon Network airs DC Nation on both Saturday and Sunday at the same time every week, so fans think they can miss it on Saturday and just catch it Sunday morning, well the ratings generally just count for the first broadcast. What they should do is broadcast GL and YJ on Saturdays and the broadcast Batman and TT on Sundays. If Batman and Teen Titans are as popular as Time Warner make them out to be, they'll have the same ratings on Sundays as they would on Saturdays.
