I'm not sure just how widespread Pingu was, but I certainly remember watching it as a child here in the UK. Regardless of whether you're familiar with Pingu (a kids stop-motion claymated television series about a family of penguins), you have got to check out this fantastic mash-up with The Thing.
The Thing (also known as John Carpenter's The Thing) is a 1982 science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter, written by Bill Lancaster, and starring Kurt Russell. The film's title refers to its primary antagonist: a parasitic extraterrestrial lifeform that assimilates other organisms and in turn imitates them. The Thing infiltrates an Antarctic research station, taking the appearance of the researchers that it kills, and paranoia occurs within the group.
Pingu is a British-Swiss stop-motion claymated television series created by Otmar Gutmann. The series was produced by The Pygos Group and Trickfilmstudio for Swiss television.
