It seems we'll have a few laughs to go along with the action in the upcoming Marvel animated series. While speaking to Newsarama, series producer Cort Lane reveals that the upcoming Hulk show is very funny. Read on for details.

When talking to Newarama about the second Season of Ultimate Spider-man, series producer, Cort Lane, revealed that the upcoming Hulk and The agents of SMASH and Avengers Assemble are only few months away. Lane also added that The Hulk and The Agents of S.M.A.S.H is very funny.

Nrama: Since you mentioned them a little earlier — are there any updates on when Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. or Avengers Assemble might debut on air?

Lane: They're only months away. I'm really thrilled. I'm a lifelong Avengers fan, so getting to work on an Avengers series is a dream job for me. At the same time, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. has really surpassed my expectations of what a series like that could be. It's a great story about a great group of characters who have a really interesting family-style dynamic. It's very funny, with just the most amazing voice cast.

Well no shock there. By funny do they mean actually funny...or people trying to be funny for stupid 5 years old?
Spideyguy94 - 1/21/2013, 5:44 PM
Is hulk going to break the fourth wall?
Nick56 - 1/21/2013, 5:51 PM
What is happening to Marvel? Shitty comics, shitty tv shows...
oldnoname - 1/21/2013, 6:13 PM
I was never interested, somehow less interested.
StarSpangledBruce - 1/21/2013, 6:16 PM
Oh for Pete's sake. The show is just funny, like when shows like Young Justice and LoK are funny. To lighten the mood a bit. That doesn't mean it's going to be an all-out comedy series, or that Hulk is going to break the 4th wall (which PAUL DINI made up EXCLUSIVELY for Ultimate Spider-Man).

This is overreacting at it's worst.

CaptainObvious - 1/21/2013, 6:16 PM
Marvel seems to think all their characters have Deadpool's personality.

I'll stick with DC animation. They can make shows that are entertaining for adults and kids without talking down to kids like Inferior Spider-Man does.
Jollem - 1/21/2013, 6:41 PM
the comedy really went over well for iron man 1. now, it seems like they're putting the comedy in force after that
KeeperoftheKrackle - 1/21/2013, 7:24 PM
Hulk will not break the fourth wall, HE WILL SMASH IT!! As will all the other characters. I think there doing off scene, camera interview, type scenes like in the Real World, like its a Hulk reality show. Now that's an idea, a contrived reality show taking place in either the Marvel or DCU.
xcrementus - 1/21/2013, 7:38 PM
Just cus the shows are geared for children (which is what cartoons are SUPPOSED to do in the first place), I don't see that as a big deal.

My niece and nephews love Ultimate Spiderman and they think its hilarious. I find it childish, but that's probably cus im not a child.

That being said, I do like how they inject traditionally "un-Spiderman" villains in the mix (eg Taskmaster, Batroc), and cameos from lesser known characters. They've done a good job of presenting the universe as a whole, hopefully the 2 new shoes continue.

Plus the Goblin finale episodes were insanely good. He tore the crap out of that Helicarrier.
FirstAvenger - 1/21/2013, 7:43 PM
Another show for little kids. Good for them bad for us.
ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 1/21/2013, 7:43 PM
lmbo what were you guys expecting with power ranger hulks and a name like "hulk and the agents of SMASH". can you say that out loud without cracking the [frick] up. agents of smash, lmbo.
FirstAvenger - 1/21/2013, 7:44 PM
@xcrementus the goblin episode was the best.
DeadPoolLax - 1/21/2013, 7:46 PM
::cough:: Deadpool TV show ::cough::

::cough:: would work the best out of any other idea ::cough::
2gold - 1/21/2013, 7:47 PM
I think I would have been fine with all of this had they left Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes alone. This gives me very little hope that Avengers Assemble won't be like Ultimate Spider-Man. Too much of the same style is a bad idea on their part. A very bad idea.
marvel72 - 1/21/2013, 7:47 PM
wasted opportunity, marvel animation does suck at the moment thank f*ck their comics & movies are good.

@ Nick56

not all of marvel's comics are shit, there is some decent stuff like majority of the marvel now titles.
DCjohnny - 1/21/2013, 7:48 PM
deadpool tv show should be rated R then only its gonna be awesome.....
FlixMentallo21 - 1/21/2013, 7:51 PM
If they wanted it to be funny, they should've made it "Stripes"-level funny. I just hope Eliza Dushku has played her share of lawyers for when she does She-Hulk for this one.
StarSpangledBruce - 1/21/2013, 7:53 PM

What promo.

Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. didn't have one. If you're talking about the Comic Con, it just showed the 5 Hulks in a jungle fighting enemies.

OBVIOUSLY Hulk isn't going to break the 4th wall. That's just a horse shit rumor made up by butthurt haters that want people to think Marvel Animation is doomed to fail.
WruceBayne - 1/21/2013, 7:53 PM
Everybody complaining about this show being "to kiddy" need to realize that it's geared toward KIDS. If you want to watch a "grown up" show, watch Justified or Sons of Anarchy and stay your creepy @ss off of Disney XD.
GLprime2814 - 1/21/2013, 7:56 PM
How about targeting an audience older than 5?
StarSpangledBruce - 1/21/2013, 7:57 PM
It's best not to believe every little rumor you hear. I for one am going to wait for the final product before I start bashing Marvel.
BIGBMH - 1/21/2013, 8:06 PM
"Very funny" like Ultimate Spider-man? As in trying way too hard, but not very funny at all?
polarkyle - 1/21/2013, 8:07 PM
Then again she hulk is famous for breaking the fourth wall
pesmerga44 - 1/21/2013, 8:07 PM
The first promo images of this show turned me off they look like a more grown up versions of that abomination Super Hero Squad. So I really don't have much interest in this show. I really hate what happened to Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes during the second half of season 2 with the way they ended the Secret Invasion, should have been a two part episode it all felt so rushed, to it all becoming one episode arcs. They ruined and ended that great show for a show more in line with Ultimate Spider-man that from the few episodes I have seen are in line with all the hate I have seen.

Some people have said that these are cartoons and are meant for kids unfortunately cartoons for kids do not need to be badly written with idiotic characters. DC animation has shown that they can have shows for kids with well written characters and story lines unfortunately for them Cartoon Network loves to shit all over them by putting their shows on long hiatus at random times. It is like Fox all over again with Firefly it is like they want them to fail.
DanteSparda - 1/21/2013, 8:08 PM
Another show with the Ultimate Spider-man aproach, this news just killed my hopes for Avengers Assemble to be good.
Temple - 1/21/2013, 8:18 PM
@levitikuz Ha, you know what the scary part is? That it might be true. That wouldnt be the first time dc sent spys to marvel to bring them down.
DeathstrokeRulez469 - 1/21/2013, 8:20 PM
siggisuperman - 1/21/2013, 8:30 PM
Listening to grown men complain that superhero squad is terrible is where I draw the line. That is just [frick]ing retarded. Superhero Squad is amazingly good FOR CHILDREN it was never meant for you to watch. But thanks to that show my 4 year old nephew knows a whole lot of marvel characters and has already gotten his head around the shared universe. He will grow up to appreciate comics, and if not for Superhero squad he would just become another jock.

And ultimate spider man is funny is hell, your problem is that you are negative nancy's. NOTHING is funny if you watch it with a negative attitude. NOTHING. Smoke a bowl and let go of your nerd rage and watch ultimate spider man. Hulk episode or Wolverine episode, either way you will be laughing your ass off
thingrock4 - 1/21/2013, 8:31 PM
WYLEEJAY - 1/21/2013, 8:50 PM
@levitikuz. The punisher on that show was hilarious! My son used to like that show and he couldnt understand why I was laughing harder than him when the punisher showed up.

I miss the 90's cartoons. I tried to get my son to watch them on netflix but he likes ultimate spider man the best. Lets hope these new animated films makes up for these shows.
DioFoRio - 1/21/2013, 8:52 PM
but is it funny?
TerminalVoyd - 1/21/2013, 8:55 PM
So with what may well be an obervation that the "interesting" family-style dynamic between the characters is funny, you infer the entirety of the show is comedic? Every cartoon show has funny moments. Young Justice, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Justice League, BTAS, etc. all had funny moments. None of them were strictly comedic.

I can't swear to it, but I recall earlier reports mentioning this show might be geared toward a younger audience that could fall somewhere between Superhero Squad and Ultimate Spider-Man. If that's the case, then yeah, there might be a disproportionate amount of yucks going on (and not in that "we're trying to be clever" Ultimate Spidey way).

I imagine we're going to have to wait and see until we get a little bit more on this show (at least a clip or two). Sadly, a lot of these quotes have a tendency to misrepresent the product to one degree or another. That said, "Hulk and the Agents of SMASH" doesn't exactly sound like it's geared toward the middle to older teen audience.
WYLEEJAY - 1/21/2013, 9:02 PM
@dion. That will probably depend on if your watching the same shows as these kids these days and finding them amusing. Its a different kind of humor now that gets these kids hooked. Its becoming so popular I wouldntbe surprised if they try a little with this show.
TerminalVoyd - 1/21/2013, 9:04 PM
And I left out the "best of both worlds" possible example, Spectacular Spider-Man. There was a show with solid writing and "made for kids" elements that blended together rather well. And of course, because it was just that awesome, it's unlikely that lightening would strike twice.
novaprime - 1/21/2013, 9:08 PM
Jeph loeb Is destroying the Marvel Animated Universe!!!! Wow im sooo Angry b- cuz Never had a Great animated Tv Show, he was only Good in Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes.. i Wish Marvel can make there Cartoon more like Young Justice!!! Or Avengers E.M.H!!! Not like that Crappy ultimate SpiderMan!!!!
WYLEEJAY - 1/21/2013, 9:09 PM
Spectacular spider man. Wolverine and the x men. And avengers emh are all great! Ya know what else they are, cancelled. Hopefully avengers assemble isnt the same as ultimate spider man or this hulk show. Wouldnt be a good idea to have all their shows so goofy.
ATrueHero1987 - 1/21/2013, 9:20 PM
If Avengers Assemble is anything like this show or Ultimate Spider-Man, I'm through with Marvel Animation. It was inexcusable for them to cancel EMH.
MJPETTY7 - 1/21/2013, 9:23 PM
Of course it is... Great...

Only good Marvel shows were cancelled... Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine & the X-Men, and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes!
TheAbomination - 1/21/2013, 9:40 PM
Canceling EHM is one thing, but then you turn all of your animated shows into some family-friendly kiddie-fest bullshit?! [frick] Loeb and all the nonsensical morons at Marvel Animation right now.
TheAbomination - 1/21/2013, 9:41 PM
Seems like live-action movies are the only GOOD thing Marvel knows how to make these days.
