"Darkness. No Parents." The Lego Movie may have been snubbed in the best animated feature category at last night's Academy Awards ceremony, but they did nominate "Everything Is Awesome" for best original song, and Will Arnett appeared dressed as Batman during the live performance.

Many people were not happy that the brilliant The Lego Movie wasn't nominated for best animated feature at this year's Oscars, but we did get a rousing rendition of "Everything Is Awesome", which was nominated for (but didn't win) best original song. The full performance was... okay? What made it special was Will Arnett appearing on-stage dressed as the Caped Crusader to sing a couple of lines from the hilarious Batman song ("Untitled Self Portrait") that can be heard blaring from the Batwing when the character is introduced in the film. Plus, as you can see from Chris Miller's tweet below, he was was actually wearing Val Kilmer's costume from Batman Forever. As cool as this was, I can't help wishing they managed to persuade Michael Keaton to get up there too.

I'm just happy Boyhood didn't win Best Picture

So Birdman won Best Picture and Director, Redmayne got Best Actor, Marvel got it's first Oscar with Big Hero 6 (although it's a crime that Lego Movie wasn't nominated)...anything else important? I heard NPH's first line was great. "We're here tonight to celebrate Hollywood's best and whitest, I mean brightest".

There was a time I was your only one. But now I'm the sad and lonely one.

Loved that episode.

I still can't get over the fact that Guardians didn't get an award for best make-up and hairstyling. Most of the main and support cast had to undergo several hours of make-up process to look the part, many extras as well.

This song was the best part of the whole show. Lady Gaga was surprisingly good too. Im my opinion Whiplash was the best movie.

@LEVITIKUZ

Fair enough. Although that wasn't Marvel. Technically, Big Hero 6 wasn't either.

What did Spider-Man 2 win for?

@MexicanSuperman Nah man. I believe that Nebula's make-up alone should have been enough to win that award.

I wouldn't say he was robbed. Eddie Redmayne deserved the win just as Keaton did. Birdman got its due last night and Keaton got his moment. The only real robbery of the night was for best original score. Interstellar deserved that one hands down over The Grand Budapest Hotel. I wanted to see Dan Gilroy win for his original Screenplay on Nightcrawler, but Birdman was another instance, like Redmayne winning Best Actor, that it was understandable that it didn't go the other way.

amn I was sure Keaton would win...redmayne was a surprise. Oscars get more and more boring every year...it's the same white people, I mean people lol every year. Need some different films. They seem dependent on historical and bogirphical dramas. that's why I loved birdman original

Keaton is my favorite Batman of all time (including animated versions) but Redmayne is simply a better actor and deserved the win.

@MrDeadRabbit

Because it wasn't Guardians, X-Men or Captain America. lol I asked myself the same thing. We were uploading trailers and everything for the film and as soon as it won...nothing. lol I'd say give it a little more time today. It was a Suday too so I'm sure people were relaxing.

Btw I'm so glad they did this to stop the crying about the Lego movie getting robbed.

If you think about it. The Lego theme was one of the first highlights (in regards to comic book related characters) there should be an article next for BH6 and lastly we'll have one for Birdman.

Glad about all the love Birdman and Grand Budapest Hotel got! Still would've liked for Emma Stone and/or Michael Keaton to win, as well as Guardians for Makeup. Oh, and I so wanted Song of the Sea to win Best Animated.

NPH did a solid job, without any really "big" moments (aside from the opening number), but without any noteworthy blunders either.
