Cartoon Network has issued a press release for this weeks episode of Green Lantern: The Animated Series that includes previously seen video and some new screencaps and an updated episode synopsis.

"Beware My Power…Green Lantern’s Light"

Airs Friday, November 11 7/6c on Cartoon Network

Based upon the DC Comics super hero, GREEN LANTERN: THE ANIMATED SERIES follows Earth's Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, who is used to being in dangerous situations — but never anything like this! In the farthest reaches of deep space, Hal patrols the Guardian Frontier, where he must face down invasions from the evil Red Lantern Corps., who have sworn to destroy the Green Lanterns and everything they stand for. With ever-emerging galactic threats, Hal is soon joined by an all-new group of heroes on a mission to protect Guardian Space — and the Green Lantern Corps itself!

In the first part of the two-part series premiere episode, ace test pilot Hal Jordan (voiced by JOSH KEATON), who leads a secret life as Earth's guardian Green Lantern, is called back to Oa. Searching for the culprits behind a series of Green Lantern deaths in "Frontier Space", Hal and his gruff fellow Green Lantern Kilowog (voiced by KEVIN MICHAEL RICHARDSON) "commandeer" The Interceptor, a prototype spaceship powered by pure Green Lantern energy and an advanced artificial intelligence system that Hal names Aya (voiced by GREY DeLISLE).

In the second half of the two-part series premiere episode, Hal and Kilowog discover that a group of Red Lanterns, including the conflicted Razer (voiced by JASON SPISAK) and the vile Zilius Zox (voiced by TOM KENNY) have been targeting and eliminating Green Lanterns in Frontier Space. Along with the help from a surviving Frontier Space Green Lantern Shyir Rev (voiced by KURTWOOD SMITH), Hal and Kilowog must stop the Red Lantern leader Atrocitus (voiced by JONATHAN ADAMS) from destroying Shyir's home planet of Colony 12.

why do they use this shit animation like it was done by a computer in the 90s?
nuck82 - 11/8/2011, 7:03 AM
[foo foo]puter*
Spidey91 - 11/8/2011, 7:03 AM
this kind of animation just gets better with the time, look at Star Wars: Clone Wars and Transformers Prime.
DarthDan - 11/8/2011, 7:05 AM
Yeah I noticed the same thing...
Aesirr - 11/8/2011, 7:06 AM
Beast Wars looked better than this
Roscoe182 - 11/8/2011, 7:15 AM
man that looks awful
SuperSomething616 - 11/8/2011, 7:15 AM
So OA looks like it did in First Flight/ Emerald Knights....people and creatures have similar style to the DCAU...with the same sound effects!!!

Hmmm something more original would have been preferred...
invalensname5 - 11/8/2011, 7:20 AM
It looks like the 90s show Reboot!
Tevii - 11/8/2011, 7:25 AM
The animation looks fine. You can continue to build on CG overtime. First season Cone Wars doesnt look as good as 3rd season.
As long as the stories are great, i dont care what kind of animation. With Timm Im sure this series will be awesome.
Some people are never happy.
Moakynubs - 11/8/2011, 7:37 AM
Ehh.. I don't like how... sentient the Red Lanterns are. But I suppose it adds a lot to the show. It reminds me of the Red Lanterns book (which I love) but with less purpose and story behind it. It almost seems like they're too calm.

Plus... Bleez, please. She can be a really cool "Starscream" sort of character. Not as buffoonish, of course, though.
Moakynubs - 11/8/2011, 7:39 AM
Also, I'm not entirely fond of this animation either, but Transformers: Prime proved itself to me shortly after I said the exact same thing. Clone Wars is great, but I just haven't really gotten in to it.
pintoman - 11/8/2011, 7:42 AM
I think it looks great. The designs of the uniforms and OA are much better than the film. Very clean.
TheAmazingSpiderMan47 - 11/8/2011, 7:42 AM
im just not a fan of that animation ... probably more expensive and looks half as good as spider TAS or and other TAS show from the 90's
marvel72 - 11/8/2011, 7:50 AM
i f*ckin love the red lanterns, looking forward to this show.
breakUbatman - 11/8/2011, 8:32 AM
Nah, over in another article they said the CGI is more expensive than 2D.

Hal sure has some shoulders on him though. It's too late to cry over spilt milk but it would have been nice if they used the Young Justice animation style. Hell they could have started a new DCAU.
HelaGood - 11/8/2011, 8:45 AM
hate the look of this...
soberchimera - 11/8/2011, 9:07 AM
They can kill in this series? Well that's a comforting thought.
Fastestmanalive - 11/8/2011, 9:24 AM
Cool, very nice screen caps, really looking forward to this
ArtisticErotic - 11/8/2011, 9:24 AM
How many times are you people going to complain about the same thing over and over again? I swear it's the same people coming in these article posting the exact same thing. Seriously we already know you picky ass fanboys hate the CG, now what else do you have to say? Is the voice acting good? Is the story shaping up to be good?

So far the show looks fine, If it does well it will only continue to improve.
tomasocelot - 11/8/2011, 9:31 AM
i think it looks good. my only compliant is GL looks to bulky. they should just thin him out a bit. other than show looks good.
Ancar - 11/8/2011, 10:03 AM
Looks fantastic! Lightyears away from that shitty movie!
Archer1111 - 11/8/2011, 11:18 AM
Looks good. I just wish the GL logo was a bit bigger on the uniform and Hal a little less chesty Bonds if you know what I mean.
SugarYumYum - 11/8/2011, 11:47 AM
Really wish the animation didn't look like shit so I can care more about this. :-/
dnno1 - 11/8/2011, 12:05 PM
@nuck82, I wouldn't knock the 1990's CGI. That was the decade that produced films like "Antz", "Toy Story", "Toy Story II".
TimelessUnknown - 11/8/2011, 12:10 PM
The animation has really grown on me, I have high hopes for this show.
LGLantern - 11/8/2011, 2:04 PM
i dunno about the animation, i guess it's the modern day batman animated series animation style. Looking forward to the show though
KryptoGuy - 11/8/2011, 4:21 PM
Moonwalker1991 - 11/8/2011, 4:58 PM
Wow, the animation looks amazing. I really can't wait for this to premier.
Jolt17 - 11/8/2011, 5:22 PM
I believe it's the same clip all over again - but whatever! The design might not be the best, but the animation really is smooth, and I like that. And most important of all, the story apparently will do it justice, so can't wait. :)

KryptoGuy That's one nice! :D
cjkalel - 11/8/2011, 5:52 PM
Looks like incredibles and I love incredibles
hatrick3 - 11/8/2011, 6:13 PM
Keeping an open mind bout this. The more superhero shite on TV the happier this nerd is. Course I hated Smallville but DC animated has a great batting average.
CeltiC527 - 11/8/2011, 6:49 PM
I love the way the show looks. Cant wait till friday!
DrainBamage - 11/9/2011, 1:37 AM
The animation does look low budget in comparison to other CGI series. I mean I'm not expecting Pixar quality stuff here, but even Jimmy Neutron looks better than this.

I'd have preferred it if they just went old school and did it by hand. This just looks sort of lazy.
plasticman - 11/9/2011, 8:15 AM
Gumby has more attention to scenic detail than this! This may be the first time Bruce Timm has failed us. It does seem like it takes time to really enjoy some of Timm's work. I was never a fan of the Justice League until about 3 years after it was off air.

This show would be suited better for ol' Plasticman instead with the overly plasticized look of the the characters. This is coming from a guy who could not stand Re-Boot and any CG Transformers show.

2D is the way to go, always has been, always will. They seem to have wanted to save some money making this series and it shows.

cosmicstranger - 11/9/2011, 9:40 AM
The animation appears to be alright, but the inclusion of the other lantern corps? Ehhhhh....
smithonator - 11/9/2011, 9:44 AM
@plasticman- I could not agree more. It would appear that anyone having anything to do with the Green Lantern characters is out of touch with the fan base.
CapedCrusader - 11/10/2011, 8:06 PM
I'm just a bit curious, but it seems to me that they're trying to make Hal and Kilowog into a buddy-cop style relationship. Does anyone else think that's strange?
