RAT QUEENS Animated TV Series On The Way

RAT QUEENS Animated TV Series On The Way

Weta Workshop’s Pukeko Pictures and Heavy Metal are joining forces to animate Image Comics’ Rat Queens into an animated tv series. Swords, magic, mead and women who kick ass!

Nominated for the 2014 Eisner Award for Best New Series, Rat Queens is an Image Comics series from writer Kurtis J. Wiebe and artist Roc Upchurch which follows an all-female party of adventurers consisting of "Hannah the Rockabilly elven mage, Violet the hipster dwarven fighter, Dee the atheist human cleric and Betty the hippy smidgen thief — who are hired to kill monsters and other beasts." Said Heavy Metal CEO Jeff Krelitz, "‘Rat Queens’ is a standout in the marketplace as a diving rod for fangirls, a market as yet untouched by most comics publishers. It is not only perfect for the TV space, but much needed." Once Heavy Metal and Weta settle on a tone and style, they'll pitch the series to network as a 30-minute program.

You mean divining rod?

It's a good comic. It's funny and it's set in a fantasy world similar to lord of the rings and game of thrones.

Well, it sounds like it will be better than 'Teen Titans Go!'...

IGN covered this 3 days ago, you guys are late!

Anyway I didn't know anything about this book either but some of the comments on the other sight said it was pretty good. So I bought the digital copy of vol 1.

So far it's not bad. A lot of profanity so odds are if they do release a show it'll be watered down.

Looks just as dumb as this:

Nice, I love this comic. Hopefully the cartoon maintians it's vulgarity.

I've never heard of this series. So an animated TV show, huh? I think this would be better as a live-action TV show.

@Mercwitham0uth Are you really dissing Biker Mice from Mars? That was a great cartoon.

One of the best comic-books on shelves right now easily...

@grif Image is arguably the most consistent publisher of the last decade and has countless series that are constantly receiving 5 star reviews. Saga, Rat Queens, Zero, Alex and Ada, Chew, Sex Criminals, Velvet, Umbral the list just goes on and on and those are just current titles...
