Marvel Is (Sort Of) Casting A Young Hank Pym For ANT-MAN

I guess we now kinda have the answer as to whether or not young Hank Pym will be CG'd Michael Douglas or not! A recent casting call has revealed that Marvel is currently on the hunt for a character that is almost certainly a young Pym. Hit the jump for more!

Ever since Michael Douglas was announced to be portraying modern-day Hank Pym in Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man, fans have been wondering whether or not the younger version of the character would be portrayed by Douglas with the help of some de-aging CGI, or by another actor althgether. Well, Marvel have issued a casting call recently, and it could well be they're looking for both.
Reportedly, Marvel is 'looking for a young Michael Douglas photo double', for what is almost certainly the role of a young Hank Pym. What's interesting about the report however is that Marvel doesn't seem interested in hiring an actor for the role - it's described as Background or Extra. This suggests that we'll either only see young Pym very briefly, or CGI will be used to map Michael Douglas' performance onto a younger body for the 60s scenes - the more likely option. Either way, the part is yet to be cast.
ANT-MAN is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, in addition to Corey Stoll, Patrick Wilson, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena and Matt Gerald, who have all been cast in currently unspecified roles. The movie is set to release on July 17th, 2015, with production set to begin this August.

GliderMan - 7/9/2014, 9:07 AM
No. I'd very much rather see a younger actor.

I have no idea where the [frick] this movie is going and it doesn't seem like Marvel does either.

Abary - 7/9/2014, 9:26 AM
Only in a photo? Well, this doesn't seem to be helping their case.

This was okay because he only existed within the computer world:

If that guy walked up to you on the street you'd shit your pants in terror. I'd rather not see an uncanny valley nightmare in Ant-Man.
Comedian03 - 7/9/2014, 9:38 AM
Sounds like they might be going the same route as that chocolate company recently did with Audrey Hepburn
DeusExSponge - 7/9/2014, 9:39 AM
What about Patrick Wilson?
TheRationalNerd - 7/9/2014, 9:49 AM

Yeah I remember seeing that casting announcement on the site a few months back. However it's still a possibility that they can be step brother and sister you know?

Skeeman and TheJamesman-i dont really understand what u mean by that..sure, the whole departure of edgar wright, which again is sad because i am a fan of his work, has put doubts about this film in many peoples minds but i am optimistic that it can bea good film..peyton reed i think will do a good job..i just hope people dont compare it to edgar wrights version cause we dont know what his version would have been.sure they hired two new writers but they are production writers which is EXTREMELY common in films..they are on set all the time just in case some changes need to be made to the script then and there..i may be naively optimistic but im gonna be optimistic cause i frankly, like the cast and i actually the direction they seem to be going and it being a superhero heist film is pretty cool imo

Someone really needs to sit Marvel down for an intervention. I REALLY want this to be good, but my hopes are dwindling fast.
DannyRand1225 - 7/9/2014, 10:36 AM
