Michael Douglas On Edgar Wright Leaving ANT-MAN

Michael Douglas On Edgar Wright Leaving ANT-MAN

During the following video, two-time Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas talks briefly about his Hank Pym role and weighs in on Edgar Wright vacating the Ant-Man director's chair. Check it out!

"I was… I was very disappointed,"  Michael Douglas told Schmoes Know about Marvel and Edgar Wright parting ways on the Ant-Man movie, in which the veteran actor plays Hank Pym. "I am a big fan of his movies. It’s a very disappointing situation. Happened very late in the game. I don’t think anybody’s quite recovered. My heart goes out to Edgar – he’s been involved  with the project for a long time. But he’s talented enough that you’ll be hearing a whole lot from him and I’m sure with a little vengeance." In a seperate interview with SFGate, Michael Douglas said he has always wanted to play a Marvel character, but what's more interesting is that the interviewer offhandedly made note that his character will "create a serum that turns humans into ants." I reached out to the reporter and she told me those were Douglas' exact words. However, upon request, she then sent me his "actual" quote about Hank Pym: "My character is a professor who, in the 1960s, designs a serum to make a human sized ant." Given the latter quote sort of contradicts what was said earlier, there's no telling which is accurate. What do you think?

Anyhow, with Marvel announcing a director soon, Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Pena and Patrick Wilson, and will release July 17, 2015.

Anybody else see @warnerbrostours is teasing some kind of reveal on twitter involving MOS? Could possibly be a better look at the batmobile or new supes costume. It could be nothing, just thought I'd give a heads up in case it was something important.
MightOfMagneto - 6/6/2014, 12:03 PM

The next thing we know is Douglas has parted ways with Marvel Studio. Then the bad mouthing begins one more time.

yossarian - 6/6/2014, 12:04 PM

New writers were needed.

Jesus, human sized ants would be terrifying. They need to lock Pym away for crimes against humanity.

2014 years ago, Gusto was middle aged.
MrBlackJack - 6/6/2014, 12:16 PM

Agreed @Ghandi.
BlackIceJoe - 6/6/2014, 12:17 PM
I know it won't happen but watch Edgar get his vengeance by getting to make Atom for WB. I can't wait to see how Michael Douglas plays Hank. I can see the whole Edgar situation is taking a toll on him. I'm not surprised at all. I wonder what Paul Rudd thinks about the whole thing. It's disappointing we will never truly know what happen.
MrReese - 6/6/2014, 12:17 PM
@McGee lol

Phil Lord & Chris Miller (the guys who directed the LEGO Movie, 21 & 22 Jump Street, & Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) were recently interviewed by MTV, and were asked "who should direct Ant-Man now that Edgar is out" and their response was "Edgar Wright." In their words, bringing on another director to make Ant-Man is like Spielberg making a Stanley Kubrick movie.

Disney and Marvel should swallow their pride, make nice with Wright and ask him to come back, or indefinitely postpone this movie.
OnePunchBaldy - 6/6/2014, 12:21 PM
Imagine if Edgar Wright went to WB and did The Flash.. now that would be something!
McGee - 6/6/2014, 12:21 PM
What the.....are you guys shitting me? When was his birthmas?
OnePunchBaldy - 6/6/2014, 12:22 PM
But I really don't see this film happening anytime soon without Edgar Wright and I'm not seeing him come back for it at this moment.
ALegendaryPanda - 6/6/2014, 12:22 PM
