Anthony Mackie Will Likely NOT Return As 'The Falcon' In THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Damn! According to an interview with MovieWeb, Mackie is not going to be a part of the highly anticipated Avengers sequel, despite the early warm reception to his role as The Falcon in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Hit the jump to read what the actor had to say on being excluded!

According to MovieWeb, who recently bagged an exclusive interview with Anthony Mackie, it is looking very likely that Captain America's modern day winged side-kick will not be suiting up to take flight once again in the upcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the sequel to 2012's The Avengers. Check out the interview below:

"(Laughs) I wish. Everybody says that but Kevin Feige. Chris is a good friend of mine. The movie starts in three weeks. I know he's read the script. He's like, 'Yo, man, I read the Avengers script. It's good.' I was like, 'Really?' He said, 'Yeah, Joss (Whedon) is doing rewrites, but it's good. I was like, 'Great! So... am I in it?' And he says, 'I've got to go. I'll be back.' What do you mean? Why can't you just tell me if I'm in the movie? No one will tell me, not one person, so I gave up on it."

Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set for release on April 4, 2014.

As long as they explain where he is during the movie, I won't complain.
themidnightking - 3/13/2014, 11:40 AM
Damn Damn Damn!
Doopie - 3/13/2014, 11:41 AM
shame if this is true, but i suppose the more room for the other 'big' characters is a good thing. namely hulk for me
MrReese - 3/13/2014, 11:41 AM
Lol @ Evans
lapress - 3/13/2014, 11:42 AM
As long as he is still The Falcon
jacobcherry1993 - 3/13/2014, 11:42 AM
This confirms NOTHING... The only thing this confirms is that unless some MAJOR plot elements change, he will be a minor character or have a cameo in the film at best. Marvel loves doing last minute cameos though, such as Chris Evan's "cameo" in Thor: The Dark World.
Pheezmatic - 3/13/2014, 11:43 AM
awww there will be lots of Don Cheadle tho.
JoJo1982 - 3/13/2014, 11:44 AM
Lmao@that conversation

It seems those 2 really became good friends
Gdub510 - 3/13/2014, 11:45 AM
It says very unlikely that hes NOT going to be in the movie, fix the double negative. :D would be siCk to see him and war machine/iron patriot, its an avengers movie get as many heroes as they can fit, especially if they've already been introduced
Interestein - 3/13/2014, 11:47 AM
Can we get a WEST-COAST AVENGERS movie or TV-show? Luke Cage, War Machine, Falcon, Eric O'Grady, Wasp?
VISIONaryNPa - 3/13/2014, 11:49 AM
I don't see this being a confirmation as he says 'Yo, man, I read the Avengers script.
GeekyCheekyChic - 3/13/2014, 11:50 AM
so long as his absence is explained considering we have the team going up against Strucker and the Masters and then Ultron... I do have a feeling though that EVERYONE will be included in the showdown with Thanos in Avengers 3.
batz11 - 3/13/2014, 11:50 AM
I hope he appears in it...he could just have a small cameo, gets hurt by Ultron, rest of the 'movie' out of the picture per say...
Nomis - 3/13/2014, 11:50 AM
Pssst...Typical. Marvel only want the brothas for sidekicks in their movies.

LMB10 - 3/13/2014, 11:51 AM
@Gdub510 Thanks, fixed. :)
Dinotron - 3/13/2014, 11:51 AM
He never said he wasnt in the film though? You need to change the title, its COMPLETELY misleading
batz11 - 3/13/2014, 11:55 AM
Better than in jail Nomis ... ok, that was a joke, just a joke, don't kill me, I'm not even like that, but it was a 'softball' and there for the hitting, haha
batz11 - 3/13/2014, 11:57 AM
...and for the record, I just said in another article, think Falcon is my new favorite MCU character ;)
AntMan - 3/13/2014, 11:59 AM
"Pssst...Typical. Marvel only want the brothas for sidekicks in their movies."

^ haha, this!
Ramiel - 3/13/2014, 12:00 PM
I'd rather have War Machine and Lady Sif in Avengers 2 than Falcon. He can be in Avengers 3.
XelCorp - 3/13/2014, 12:01 PM
In avengers 3 I can see Iron patriot/war machine, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, ironman, The Twins, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, Widow all going up against Thanos in a final showdown lool
kinghulk - 3/13/2014, 12:01 PM
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, i really wanted to see him in AOU
write33 - 3/13/2014, 12:03 PM
Booooooooooooooo! mistake Marvel!!! this is a great actor and a great character, I'm' sure there is a ton of good n A2 but no Falcon is a poor decision.
kinghulk - 3/13/2014, 12:04 PM
i'd rather have falcon than war machine/ red white blue attack dog, war machine is just a iron man rip off. much rather see falcon, but i'll be happy with war machine as long as he is war machine and not iron patriot.
batz11 - 3/13/2014, 12:05 PM

I'm willing to bet, after Falcon's appearance in CapTWS, he'll be written into AoU, even a small stupid to leave him out...looks cool as [frick] and Mackie wants to do it!
Mrsinister - 3/13/2014, 12:05 PM
I wanna see a shield movie with War Machine, black widow, hawkeye, and falcon
batz11 - 3/13/2014, 12:06 PM
^ that's how they should do Widow's solo movie, include those guys, I'd be ALL in!
batz11 - 3/13/2014, 12:07 PM
...obviously, not a "solo" movie then, but you know what I mean, haha
Nomis - 3/13/2014, 12:08 PM
@ batz - LOL!! Good one.
SauronsBANE - 3/13/2014, 12:08 PM
If this stays true, that's really unfortunate. From a couple writers on other sites that have seen The WInter Soldier already, Falcon and Cap's friendship is one of the highlights of the entire MCU, not just that movie.
Lancer1 - 3/13/2014, 12:22 PM
LoL it was so funny conversation ...
wookiefit - 3/13/2014, 12:23 PM
I hope he doesn't appear in AoU. They need to build up the team from when the current Avengers roster contracts end. If they stat Avengers 3 or 4 with a whole new team, that would suck. Build up new members so we can have a gradual change.
wookiefit - 3/13/2014, 12:25 PM
@ batz

" Widow's solo movie, include those guys, I'd be ALL in!..."

Same line has been uttered before many a gang-bang film
TelaVizion - 3/13/2014, 12:31 PM
Figured this already. It was only explained in the comic, but War-Machine wasn't in Avengers. Just don't expect the sidekicks to be in the team flicks.

They need to do a "Secret Avengers" movie after the 3rd Avengers. All new team with mentions of the regular team. Maybe have Tony or Cap show up on a monitor or something.
batz11 - 3/13/2014, 12:34 PM
@wookie LOL
BrowniesExplode - 3/13/2014, 12:39 PM
I agree if his absence is explained then great. Also can we stop with the tie in comic and just make more Marvel one shots instead.
MsDarkPhoenix - 3/13/2014, 12:59 PM
Come on Marvel!!!! I've heard great things about his performance and he looks like a cool guy!!!
TheBeard - 3/13/2014, 1:02 PM
agree with the people that said they need to at least explain his absence, if they do that it will be fine. he will be back in Cap 3
J3225 - 3/13/2014, 1:03 PM
Put him in.
charlie2094 - 3/13/2014, 1:07 PM
Good! Nothing against Falcon, looks brilliant, but this movie is packed as it is, already has 9 Avengers, plus a new big villain and all the Hydra/Strucker stuff, really can't have much long as there's a line about where he is, it'll be fine. Too much more and characters will start to suffer, this many is a huge undertaking as is

Bring him in for Avengers 3, need everyone involved for Thanos
