Elizabeth Olsen Expected To Use An "English" Accent For THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Another report has confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen is in talks to join the cast of The Avengers: Age of Ultron as 'The Scarlet Witch', but following the rumour that she will be expected to use a "European" accent, it has now been narrowed down to actually being an "English" one.

When Bleeding Cool first revealed that Elizabeth Olsen was being considered by Marvel Studios for the role of The Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, they mentioned that the Martha Marcy May Marlene and Liberal Arts star would be required to use a "European" accent in the movie. Well, in an article over at The Wrap in which they reaffirm earlier reports that the actress is "nearing a deal" to play the character in the Joss Whedon helmed sequel, they mention that "Olsen would also be expected to don an English accent, according to one insider." They also mention that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is still in talks to play Quicksilver, and this seemingly confirms that both his and Olsen's brother/sister duo will in fact be British in the movie. How do you guys feel about this?

TheSpaceGhost - 8/22/2013, 1:38 PM
She's a Romanian Gipsy so go figure.
That being said I love the Scarlet Witch!
LEVITIKUZ - 8/22/2013, 1:38 PM

THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/22/2013, 1:48 PM

CharlesLord - 8/22/2013, 1:48 PM
i always figured they would let johnson use his brit accent and whoever played SW would have a brit accent as well
SpiderParker - 8/22/2013, 1:48 PM
English accent means British English!
ABLEE337 - 8/22/2013, 1:48 PM
@ Levitikuz

I think Australian English or Canadian English, maybe.
TheWolverine08 - 8/22/2013, 1:50 PM
Cool stuff.
primevil666 - 8/22/2013, 1:50 PM
I was thinking this also. Will it be the real English accent or the stupid one that everybody thinks actually exists
ABLEE337 - 8/22/2013, 1:50 PM
I am bilingual, I can understand Australian English, Canadian English, British English and American English. :)
SpiderParker - 8/22/2013, 1:51 PM
The only character's accent I care about is Black Widow's... which they threw out of the window.
wcwpoet - 8/22/2013, 1:52 PM
Eh I don't care what they sound like. I always thought the Witch had that European not quite Italian but somewhat type accent. Again not in love with the character so they could speak Swahili for all I care.
TheMadman - 8/22/2013, 1:53 PM
@ABLEE377: That's quadlingual
fettastic - 8/22/2013, 1:56 PM
As long as she performs the role entirely in the nude, she can use whatever accent she likes.
LEVITIKUZ - 8/22/2013, 1:56 PM
So we got American actors playing European characters...

Euporean actors playing American characters...

This seems messed up.
ABLEE337 - 8/22/2013, 1:56 PM
@ MrHulkSmashin
I understand all 4 languages but can only speak 2 of them. :)
DamienA - 8/22/2013, 1:58 PM
When they say "English" accent then it will be the British one.
QuinlanVos - 8/22/2013, 1:58 PM
Ian Mckellen & Michael Fassbander both had British accents in the X-Men movies.
SuperiorMrGod - 8/22/2013, 1:58 PM
So we go from Elizabeth Olsen in talks to play the character to Elizabeth Olsen is planning to use a European accent?
TheWolverine08 - 8/22/2013, 1:59 PM
@MrGod Yup.
kevberg - 8/22/2013, 2:01 PM

LEVITIKUZ - 8/22/2013, 2:04 PM

You would be surprised how similar Wookie and Boston is.
DurtyTalynt - 8/22/2013, 2:05 PM

DurtyTalynt - 8/22/2013, 2:08 PM

BritishMonkey - 8/22/2013, 2:10 PM
Good, good... Can she do a British accent?
SpectacularJoSh - 8/22/2013, 2:11 PM
Aww [frick] NO...[frick] that...she's goign to ruin it...she's going to use that campy register every actor uses when attempting an English accent...the snob accent or the BBC accent(BBC...giggity) or the Queen's accent.......seriously....that sucks.
TheOneAboveAll - 8/22/2013, 2:17 PM
Actually, Fassbender had an Irish accent(with hints of German due to his heritage), Mcavoy a Scottish accent, Ian Mckellen a British accent and Patrick Stewart an English accent. They are different
sameoldthing - 8/22/2013, 2:19 PM
She needs to have her hair curly & dyed darker than her natural look.
Wish she had bigger boobs but I say that about most women.
Rodman - 8/22/2013, 2:19 PM
This is a great pick. I think she'll be outstanding. I certainly prefer her over Saoirse Ronan.
JatevinM - 8/22/2013, 2:24 PM
Are people really going to complain about an international spy ditching her distinctive Russian accent? Like do you know how stupid it is to have such a defining thing when you're supposed to be a spy.
AlSimmons - 8/22/2013, 2:25 PM
Do you guys remember that toy from when you where three years old? The one where you pulled the lever and the arrow spun to an animal? Then the voice box inside would say, "The cow says: MOOOOOOOOO."

The fanboy says: GIMME GIMME GIMME

Seriously, you guys are never thankful for anything. All you should expect is that:
A) all characters should resemble the core of the comic character (Comic Fury is manipulative, Movie Fury is manipulative- race doesn't matter unless it's central to the character).
And B) The movie should do all it can to be simply a good movie, not a "comic book movie".

UrbanKnight - 8/22/2013, 2:28 PM
Bloody brilliant!
JatevinM - 8/22/2013, 2:29 PM
I always wanted Monica Belluci to play Wanda.
MercwithMouth - 8/22/2013, 2:36 PM

"Actually, Fassbender had an Irish accent(with hints of German due to his heritage), Mcavoy a Scottish accent, Ian Mckellen a British accent and Patrick Stewart an English accent. They are different"

McKellan and Stewart, are both from England, they would both have English accents. McAvoy - Scotland (part of great Britain), Fassbender - German, Northern Ireland. (Northern Ireland part of Great Britain), so all 4 would use British accents, from different areas.

mctrinket - 8/22/2013, 2:39 PM
Seems a somewhat random decision. Why not just their regular American accents then?
