Brandon Molale Has Auditioned To Play CGI Hulk In The Avengers?

According to Brandon Molale's official twitter account, the actor has auditioned to do the motion capture for Hulk in The Avengers! This presumably means Mark Ruffalo will only be portraying Bruce Banner in human form...

Here's what he posted:

This seems to clash with what Mark Ruffalo had previously said about being the first person to "actually play the Hulk". So perhaps the film-makers decided his body wouldn't work well enough with motion capture and have decided to go with someone more muscular? It's worth noting that Ruffalo and Molale do look reasonably similar (facially).

What do you CBMers think about this? Are you intrigued that we'll potentially be having three actors pool into the same character (Ruffalo, Ferrigno, and maybe Molale)?

Great find dude, that is pretty interesting. I guess they decided against Ruffalo doing the whole shebang.
Denn1s - 1/28/2011, 9:13 AM
why not ruffalo? like norton. it sucks to play banner if you can't play the hulk in a way...
80sFace - 1/28/2011, 9:15 AM
More likely it means Molale is full of sh*t.
ThaMessenger07 - 1/28/2011, 9:18 AM
Cool. He may have the motions down a little better since he will move more like a big muscle bound guy naturally and he has the large football line-men experience to pose and perform unique powerful movements which may be what there looking for in the Hulk.
RorMachine - 1/28/2011, 9:18 AM
Yeah that'l be the case I'me sure. The guy is lying for some attention instead of there actually being any truth to it. Y'know there is cynical and then there is miserable git 80sface.
Mysterion - 1/28/2011, 9:21 AM
I’m cool with them getting someone other than Ruffalo to do the motion capture of the Hulk, and it make sense, you get someone more athletic to do the running and jumping etc. Who ever gets mad at this news is just nitpicking
marvel72 - 1/28/2011, 9:21 AM
i thought ruffalo was doing it,oh well.

the avengers is gonna be the best cbm of 2012.
Mysterion - 1/28/2011, 9:22 AM
I agree with Shocker.
dahamma - 1/28/2011, 9:24 AM
I want the Hulk to look like he did in INcredbile Hulk, Long hair, And dark green. It looked AMAZING. Plz no lime green Ang lee Hulk.

Isn't Lou Ferrigino suppose to do Hulks voice? I hope he does, and we get a talking hulk
JosePetrelli12 - 1/28/2011, 9:25 AM
who cares... just make it look good!!
80sFace - 1/28/2011, 9:27 AM
@Ror- is Molale the miserable git or am I?

If he is, I agree. If I am, I'm going to go back to writing my manifesto on why Griff is the most cheery person on these boards while eating cold pea soup out of a can.
Shaman - 1/28/2011, 9:30 AM
Finally, they might have found him a role he has the chops for. A CGIed beast with little to no dialog. Seriously, he may "look" like Captain Marvel should, but he could never pull off the part. He had trouble convincing me he was a goon in Rundown, for [frick]'s sake.
naterator - 1/28/2011, 9:32 AM
this makes no sense at all....i mean norton looked nothing like the HULK...and so neither should ruffalo. its bad enuf that they have changed the banner.....are they now going to change the look of the hulk? thats a terrible idea..... if they do i hope the extent of the change ends up being the hulks hair do. do not change the body or face.....keep it the same as the last movie.
MANofSHAZAM - 1/28/2011, 9:36 AM
That made me laugh that you're like "if they change the look of the hulk from the incredible hulk to the avengers that will ruin the continuity."

THAT will ruin the continuity?!? Not the fact that Banner is a completely different actor?
naterator - 1/28/2011, 9:37 AM

i do agree with DAHAMMA to a degree that i hope that we only get to see ruffalo in the beginning and that we have a talking HULK the rest of the time.
drfate - 1/28/2011, 9:39 AM
sh4ko...that. is. so sad. their poor poor mothers.
robdel - 1/28/2011, 9:41 AM
May be due to Ruffalo's scheduling or maybe they need to work on the Hulk motion capture while Ruffalo is filming Banners scenes.
@marcolanni the Hulk keeps getting batter looking. Compare the new Hulk to the 2003 version, it's night and day. They will continue to tweak the character. Hopefully the new one will be a little less ripped and Veiny IMO.
naterator - 1/28/2011, 9:42 AM
MANofSHAZAM....yes they already ruined the continuity....but it will be double trashed if they completely change the look of the actual would think that they would at least not want to REBOOT the look of the hulk for this new movie. Who knows what MARVEL is thinking.....perhaps they forgot how to.
naterator - 1/28/2011, 9:44 AM
LIV TYLER would be a plus if they had her signed on....i imagine that William Hurt should appear in the film again too for more of that conversation with STARK.
RorMachine - 1/28/2011, 9:47 AM
lol, fair cop 8os face, your both miserable gits!;)
Shaman - 1/28/2011, 9:58 AM

"being the first person to actually play the Hulk"

What gives? Ang Lee and Ed Norton both performed mo-cap for the Hulk- you can see it on the DVD extras for both films!
80sFace - 1/28/2011, 10:14 AM
@ror - manifesto it is! Be warned: I'm working on a space laser that targets and disintegrates people that submit b.s. rumors to CBM. Not cynical. More like flammable.
ElBicho - 1/28/2011, 10:15 AM
I heard Verne Troyer was doing the mo-cap for MODOK...
Gutts81 - 1/28/2011, 10:15 AM
First off! Where the HELL is Lee?? B) PfffffzzzZ! hellz no! That is not a good look.
StrangerX - 1/28/2011, 10:19 AM
Didn't Ruffalo already state he's going to be donning the motion capture suit.
Fabs - 1/28/2011, 10:21 AM
"It's worth noting that Ruffalo and Molale do look reasonably similar (facially)."

Uhm..How so?! They look absolutely nothing alike!!
(yes, I know they both have 2 eyes, a nose and a mouth... :P ;))

Anyway, looking alike is far from being a requirement for motion capture.
prinzjoker - 1/28/2011, 10:30 AM
Ed Norton is always going to be Bruce Banner
and Lou is always going to be the Hulk.

Marvel is garbage changing actors from left and right the Avengers movie is going nowhere
along with ironman 3 (different director) and the spiderman reboot
IamNotLegend - 1/28/2011, 10:52 AM
They're also testing Robert Maillet of 300 and Sherlock fame for this. I guess they want someone big to do the Mo-Cap.
Dusk - 1/28/2011, 10:57 AM
WHATEVER they decide to do, I just hope that they MAKE IT AWESOME!
Optimus83 - 1/28/2011, 11:04 AM
THE AVENGERS look awesome, with Hulk with Brandon Molale and Mark Ruffalo RULES!!!

RorMachine - 1/28/2011, 11:17 AM
Why should I heed that warning Face? I don't submit any rumors, I do however on occasion REPORT on them. Maybe you should tweek your laser a little?
LocoLobo1127 - 1/28/2011, 11:29 AM
I dont care who the put the Mo cap suit on, personally they should get Brock Lesnar to come in and do it , hell he is almost as big as the Hulk anywayso he would have similar movement styles. i also think we will see a more intelligent Hulk similiar to what we are seeing the Avengers: EMH cartoon, I say that mainly because at the end of TIH, you see Norton Trigger the Hulk without the anger, which you can draw conclusions to that Banner has learned to control the Hulk at least a little.
ThaMessenger07 - 1/28/2011, 11:54 AM
I kinda would like a smaller football player like Troy P. To do the MoCap or a Pro-Wrestler like Shelton Bejamin. A combination of Power and Ability.
CENSORSHIPSUCKS - 1/28/2011, 12:00 PM
Couldn't they just use Lou Ferrigno? Heck, they already got him doing the Hulk's voice over. And they are also paying Mark Ruffalo to playing Bruce Banner. That way they can save money without writing three separate checks. Have you seen Lou Ferrigno? He is like what, in his mid sixies and in great shape. He looks the same he did as when he was playing the hulk back in the 70's. Go figure. I think he is taking some kind of special fountain of youth water. I just drink beer. My body isn't as shapely.

cbostont102 - 1/28/2011, 12:20 PM
I actually would like the look of the CGI Hulk to change a little. I like aspects of Hulk from both "Hulk" and "TIH" but neither on really killed it for me personally...I really liked Norton's transformation when Mr Blue had him strapped to the's right up there for me with Del Torro's transformation in "Wolfman"...
Duhdaduh - 1/28/2011, 12:26 PM
i think ruffalo will be a great banner, and yeah hopefully they keep on the same line with hulk's appearance. hopefully technology is better now and he will look less videogame-ish (Avatar-level realism)

i just really hope william hurt comes back, even for just a small role, because he owned General Ross. and yeah hopefully liv tyler will be back too. when she is unable to calm the hulk down, that will be the first sign that loki is controlling him.

i just rewatched TIH on tv the other night, and i almost forgot how good it was!!! it might be my favorite marvel movie so far
