Elizabeth Olsen Explains What She Loves About The 'Scarlet Witch' Character

Yesterday the Martha Macy May Marlene actress finally confirmed that she will indeed play Wanda Maximoff in Joss Whedon's Avengers sequel. Now while chatting to AICN, Olsen discusses what drew her to the character.

Since Elizabeth Olsen confirmed that she'll play Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age Of Ultron yesterday, we've heard from quite a few outlets who've managed to get a few more vague details out of her. Now while talking to AICN about her role in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake, the actress offers up a few more tidbits. First off, she has indeed seen the costume - though she won't give even the tiniest hint as to what it could look like. "I do have a sense," she says when quizzed about the character's pretty revealing outfit from the comics. "But I have logic and mind enough not to share it. [laughs] I know what the costume is going to be more or less like. I'm just excited that she's never been portrayed in film or on television before." More interestingly Olsen also talks about Scarlet Witch's personality and powers; but bear in mind she could just be talking about the comic book incarnation - we may not see the movie version exhibit all of these abilities.

"She's crazy. She has more things wrong with her than any character I've ever played. She can tell you where an object has been, she can tell you what your future is, she can connect with the dead and people from the past, the future, other universes, and she's the only person in this universe who's capable of doing that. She's unbelievable; it's so cool. I grew up loving STAR WARS and LORD OF THE RINGS, and anything that has another type of world or universe aspect to it is so fun."
