Further Confirmation Of Loki's Rumored Mischievous Plans For The Avengers?

Further Confirmation Of Loki's Rumored Mischievous Plans For The Avengers?

Recent reports may confirm not only that Loki will be using a powerful energy source in Marvel's The Avengers, but also his rumored mischievous usage of it. Check it out!

With final confirmation of the actor behind THOR's God of Mischief, Loki, Tom Hiddleston appearing in Marvel's The Avengers, an interview via HitFix, conducted during their set visit, may confirm past spoilerific rumors of a certain weapon, as well the Skrulls appearing in the superhero ensemble flick. The site reports:

At one point, we asked Tom, "So we had a chance to tour the weapons vault in Odin's chambers, and I couldn't help but wonder… if someone were to steal some of those weapons and head to Earth with them, that would take more than one hero to stop them, wouldn't it? Don't you think that might demand… oh, let's say… The Avengers?"

Hiddleston [smiling] replied, "Well, actually, that's not far off. What I've heard so far makes it sound like I'll have a great time in 'The Aven'--" and that's as far as he got before Kevin Feige leaned in close, and power-whispering something in Hiddleston's ear. The smile vanished and a suddenly-shaken Hiddleston continued. "You know, perhaps I'm not in 'The Avengers' after all."

With a spoiler warning, Latino Review reported earlier this year that Loki takes on the team by using the cosmic cube, firstly seen in Captain America: The First Avenger. And he uses the cube to get a hold of the Aliens (aka The Skrulls) to invade Earth and battle. What do you think?

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston & Stellan Skarsgård, the film releases May 4, 2012!

It seems likely that the Loki Cosmic Skrull rumor will be confirmed. Or at least some variation of it.
I have huge hopes for this film....probably too high. :P
whoa123 - 4/26/2011, 6:47 PM
@Tortured- LOL that's awesome
Ryden - 4/26/2011, 6:51 PM
Well if that's confirmed to be true then it's pretty much a done deal. It always was though, Loki was obviously going to be the villain.
manthingnitsuj - 4/26/2011, 6:52 PM
skrulls - please make them have the comic book chins, ears and green angry faces. haha.
thewarmachinez - 4/26/2011, 6:54 PM
ROTFL @TorturedXGenius Tom probably knocked off a couple of years on his marvel contract for that lol
frigidgiantinthe716 - 4/26/2011, 7:02 PM
I would love to see the hulk smash a skrull into a puddle of greenness. That would be epic

Loki with the cube and him messing with the Hulk makin him rampage, that would be sweeeeeet. A big "No, thank you" to the skrulls... which were not confirmed by this article... just sayin. on top of the recent news of a new costume for cap for avengers. avengers is lookin up! =D
captainbeta - 4/26/2011, 7:15 PM
Remember that Loki is the God of Mischief. He won't be personally involved in the fighting, just setting the stage for someone else. This will be an amazing movie.
thedarknight923 - 4/26/2011, 7:17 PM
@grayfox117 I agree. I think the only way to make that work would be to make it a 2 parter or something resembling lord of the rings. But whatever they choose, I have faith in marvel. Aside from the 2 actor changes they haven't failed me yet! :D
TheAmazingSmitty - 4/26/2011, 7:37 PM
The guessing game with Loki's inclusion in The Avengers has gotten stale, they need to stop doing it. They've already confirmed Loki being in the movie with their Avengers press release.
MGS - 4/26/2011, 7:38 PM
The cosmic cube was partially created by the Skrulls so I can see why they would get involve.
DarthTesla - 4/26/2011, 7:38 PM
Kevin Feige like a boss.
SephirothUK - 4/26/2011, 7:42 PM
The after-credits scene in Thor heavily leans towards this so...we shall see

Marvel has confirmed that he is in it. Why is there still "speculation"?

DCMarvelFreshman - 4/26/2011, 7:59 PM
@RichardTheNerd This article starts out with further confirmation that's hes in the movie. The purpose of this article is about past rumors of what Loki does in the movie, using the Cosmic Cube & The Skrulls my friend.

I don't know about going the alien route....but who else could give them a fight....crap, gotta go alien
ajonesfer - 4/26/2011, 9:09 PM
if they do skrulls, they have to do the super skrull...skrulls by nature do not have any super powers, just shape shifting abilities...super skrulls do...aka origin from Fantastic Four, all powers put together...now that would be a great battle...just skrulls themselves would be lame...

Lol at all the people not wanting the Skrulls. Who should they fight? Just each other? Really? Really? Do we need a Watchmen type disaster in our hands? People are expecting grand scale action sequences not heroes fighting eachother and facing a lone villain that was defeated just a year prior. (Yes big spoiler alert, Loki loses at the end of Thor.)

Plus how boring would it be if its 2 hours of the heroes bickering amongst each other, 2-3 action sequences of same let's go after the Hulk crap and just watch Loki get defeated yet again by Thor.

Then there's the whole Bruce Banner thing, its one thing to manipulate Hulk in the comics and cartoons but in the movies, its a whole nother story. Hulk will likely get 3-4 scenes, what's Banner going to do the rest of the movie? Hang out with Loki? Hang out with the others until he starts to Hulk-out? 'Oh wait guys, Loki is controlling me again, let's fight'.

Also I haven't seen Thor yet, but from what I understand Loki sends the Destroyer down to Earth. So that didn't work, let's run the same gag with the Hulk?

And then what let's wait another 3-4 years to see a different villain? What is there aren't anymore Avengers movies?

They might aswell go all out with this one, everyone is introduced and have movies with backstories, the villain aswell, how the hell is it so hard to introduce one more villain(s).

Loki/Hulk would be just a city wide threat, Loki/Cosmic Cube/Skrull invasion would be a global threat that would require the combined forces of all those heroes.

"Hiddleston, you shut your [frick]ing mouth or I shit you not Loki will be a chick in The Avengers."
soaponapope - 4/26/2011, 9:52 PM
I don't think the original Super Skrull will be in this simply because he had the powers of the FF and Fox still owns their movie rights, so it would probably raise legal issues. They might have the other ones like in secret invasion. But I think they will just simplify it so all Skrulls are sort of merged with super skrulls, in that normal Skrulls just get the powers of who they change into
ChrisMc - 4/26/2011, 11:30 PM
Loki has to get the Skrulls because he was already a main villain in 'Thor'. Wanting only Loki in 'Avengers' is like having Green Goblin the villain in back-to-back Spider-Man movies... wait...
blahblahboy - 4/27/2011, 6:25 AM
comicb00kguy - 4/27/2011, 6:45 AM
They COULD use the Super Skrull. The powers of the Fantastic Four are not unique, and there is no need to mention them by name (though if he were the villain, a little "easter egg" inferring them would be cool). If need be, a new story could be concocted explaining the origin of the Super Skrull's powers.

I still remain convinced that the Skrulls should not be anything more than a "behind-the-scenes" threat in the first film. Build them up right, and build up towards a Kree-Skrull war in the third film, by which time audiences will know all the players well enough that the movie can jump right into doing the war without having to waste time on backstory.
niknik - 4/27/2011, 10:18 AM
No skrulls please. Too many moving parts in too many directions will spoil this film. Besides all of the characters on the team you would have Loki, the Red Skull, and an entire invasion force of aliens???

Lets just have Loki assemble a few powerful baddies and call them the Masters of Evil and let one team square off against the other in a battle royal. No need to fast forward to the Kree/Skrull war yet. Save that for a sequal.
Sparrowsabre7 - 4/27/2011, 11:03 AM
It's funny how Tom gets hushed for this and Gary Oldman spills 90% of the stuff about TDKR XD You'd think someone would go "For god's sake SHUSH!"
plasticman - 4/27/2011, 11:40 AM
I am really looking forward to this build up to The Avengers. It has been a fun ride so far. I just hope Marvel doesn't mess it up somehow with the stars that they have involved so maybe we can see sequels for years to come.
GarthRanzz - 4/27/2011, 1:09 PM
Not Loki again. We are seeing him this year. Next year is too soon. FAIL!
