Jeremy Renner & Saturday Night Live Spoof THE AVENGERS

Jeremy Renner & Saturday Night Live Spoof THE AVENGERS

While hosting last night's episode of SNL, host, Jeremy Renner, poked fun at The Avengers' Hawkeye in a sketch that questioned the character's usefulness once he runs out of arrows.

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig).

JerBear - 11/18/2012, 12:38 AM
He did run out of arrows in the movie... still kicked ass.
SuperSomething616 - 11/18/2012, 12:39 AM
Lame...dumb...waste of time and money...stupid...need i go on?
JDUKE25 - 11/18/2012, 12:41 AM
Hahaha poor Hawkeye
BIGBMH - 11/18/2012, 12:47 AM
I believe the guy playing Cap in this skit is Cobie Smulders' (Maria Hill) husband.
RR51 - 11/18/2012, 12:50 AM
Was the old SNL as mediocre as today's?

Why was this considered funny?

That was so incredible poor. Though Tony Stark was quite good.
Lawlessone - 11/18/2012, 1:06 AM
I want my 04:13 back. SNL, you really s*ck!
BANE5000 - 11/18/2012, 1:06 AM
From the time of Mike Myers and Dana Carvey to Adam Sandler and Chris Farley till about when Will Ferrell was on were the best years of SNL to me, I would LoL so much to those skits back then, the skits these days get a chuckle or two out of me but it doesnt feel the same to me anymore. Call me nostalgic I guess :]
DrRockso - 11/18/2012, 1:07 AM
He flubbed two lines. Key lines, other than that it was really really cool. Cap's hair looked perfect and Hulk looked good and that chick sounded exactly like Johansson. Renner Did just fine. Assholes

evilness - 11/18/2012, 1:52 AM
that was quite boring.

is this all they could come up with a ripe-for-comedy subject like the avengers with renner at their disposal?

utter shite
NeoBaggins - 11/18/2012, 2:21 AM
That was unbelievably lame. SNL hasn't been funny since the 80's.

Renner's delivery is pure shit and unfunny.
wallhead - 11/18/2012, 2:33 AM
sigh....smh. it was bad enough hawkeye hasnt been getting any mention in future movie well as renner's (although understandable)semi complaints about his role in the avengers. and now we get this... here is hoping marvel doesnt get fed up with this guy poking fun and kick hawkeye to the curb. he was a badass after all..
carrowsboy - 11/18/2012, 2:41 AM
Agree with others on this thread. SNL hasn't been remotely funny since 1993. I remember being in high school in the early 90s and watching SNL with Carvey, Myers, Hartman, Hooks, Rock, etc... was a Saturday night ritual.

If you saw the show... ya gotta admit. The boy can sing.
Mego - 11/18/2012, 4:16 AM
Ive seen some good stuff on SNL lately so Im surprised at how bad that was.
There had to be better ideas. They possibly shouldve went with a mock sequel.
1. Twilight meets Avengers.
2.. Bale's Batman meets the Avengers.
3. They just had Hathaway on SNL maybe she wouldve even did a guest spot as Catwoman after she dumped Batman post TDKR then maybe she and Widow either compete for the guys or just drive them mad with their sexiness. .
4. Even Avengers on Fox And Friends wouldve been better.
5. Mitt Romney or Donald Trump tries to join the Avengers by buying an Iron Man suit.
Lots of better ideas.
MrZoolittle - 11/18/2012, 4:59 AM
that was funny, i'm sure avengers fans didn't care for it. he was useless in the movie, its funny he poked fun at it.
Durango95 - 11/18/2012, 5:20 AM
not really that funny
decadron - 11/18/2012, 5:49 AM
kevberg - 11/18/2012, 5:51 AM
Taran killam, who played Cap in this skit, yep, is Cobie's Husband :)
kevberg - 11/18/2012, 6:03 AM
Thought Renner was good in this skit..I laughed at his delivery ....kinda a stoner/slacker Hawkeye.

Liked it when Iron man called Hawkeye "hunger games"

Last I really enjoyed SNL was with THE ROCK, He seemed like a natural in his skits.
FirstAvenger - 11/18/2012, 7:25 AM
Haha katniss! May the odds be in your favor.
AnotherSinisterClone - 11/18/2012, 7:31 AM
its sad how Marvelites are getting offended by this. but its true, why the F would there be some guy with arrows, and some chick with lil 22s. its the only dumb part of Avengers, deal w it
bigdaddy73 - 11/18/2012, 7:40 AM
Crickets......ah what the hell was that? Lame when are they gonna finally cancel that show? Hasn't been good since Eddie Murphy. As Hulk would say '' lame ass comedians''.
pesmerga44 - 11/18/2012, 8:12 AM
@AnotherSinisterClone Well if you think it was stupid to have Hawkeye and Black Widow in the movie because he used a bow and she used pistols then on the future JL movie they shouldn't use Batman. All Batman uses is bat shaped projectiles and a grappling hook so pretty much just as bad as a bow and pistol when compared to super strength, super speed, matter creation, shape shifting, etc...
Giznad - 11/18/2012, 8:15 AM
@bigdaddy73, I think SNL died along with Chris Farley.
ThePowerCosmic - 11/18/2012, 8:18 AM
Terrible show. They dont have a clue of how to be funny anymore.
super01 - 11/18/2012, 8:41 AM
Yeah, I found this skit to be unflattering. Not funny at all. Why's he making fun of a character that he's successfully portrayed? I also found the stupid cartoon skit (cant remember what it was about) to be very weird and annoying!
Joe6Pack74 - 11/18/2012, 8:46 AM
SNL goes through phases, for the last 15 years it has been in a suck phase. But then again that holds true for all the "big 3" networks.
super01 - 11/18/2012, 8:49 AM
@Pesmerga44, Batman in the JL makes sense because he brings the human element to that team in a world that fears super humans. Besides, he's super rich, a genius, one of the best martial artists in the world and has tech out of this world. So he fits into that group and holds his own without them.
Alvahnomicron - 11/18/2012, 8:57 AM
HOLEE CRAP. That sketch was. Not. Funny. SNL comes and goes. Right now is a, "gone" phase.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 11/18/2012, 9:08 AM
It was funny at first then it kinda went down hill.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 11/18/2012, 9:11 AM
You wanna give it a go?
No! why would I need that I have a shield.

That part was pretty funny. Other than that meh.
