Joss Whedon's Fun AVENGERS 2 Interview At The 39th Saturn Awards

Joss Whedon's Fun AVENGERS 2 Interview At The 39th Saturn Awards

What can fans expect in The Avengers 2? Joss Whedon says to anticipate a Steel Magnolias type atmosphere and a new character named Pillow Man. Continue on for this fun, satirical interview with the always affable fan-favorite director.

At last nights, "39th Annual Saturn Awards," Avengers 2 director Joss Whedon unsurprisingly had fielded some questions about his top grossing sequel. Instead of the usual "no comment" and non-commital answers, Whedon decided to have a little fun. "A lot of sitting and drinking tea," Whedon joked about what fans can expect in the second theatrical outing for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. He continued, "Think Steel Magnolias, but not so steel-y. Think downy, pillow-y Magnolias. Obviously Pillow Man will be a huge character."

You never expect it but that's what you're going for. You want everybody to love it, so if they do, it's not like 'What the hell, everything has going horribly wrong!' It's more like, wow, ok cool." You can check out the full interview from MingleMediaTVNetwork by watching the interview above. Of course, this interview was humorous for the most part, but when you look at the official taglines for "Steel Magnolias", "The funniest movie ever to make you cry" and "Sometimes laughter is a matter of life and death" maybe that comparison is more apt than Joss realizes.

Currently, the most overrated director.
TheWolverine08 - 6/27/2013, 1:39 PM
@exe Nope, that's Christopher Nolan.
TepidShark - 6/27/2013, 1:40 PM

I like that "what was the first horror movie that really [frick]ed you up" question.

With me, it wasn't so much a horror movie, it was filmed terrorism. My mother snuck me into the drive-in to see last House on the Left when I was 6 years old. I can't even watch that movie NOW! Shit Wes Craven says he can't even watch it and he [frick]ing wrote and directed it!

It's just a sick [frick]ing bleak string of rape, humiliation, brutality and just every dispicable act you can imagine.

So yeah, there was no [frick]ing Bugs Bunny cartoon before it ran.

I remember crying and begging my mother to take me home. She's a sick bitch.
TheLokey1 - 6/27/2013, 1:41 PM

I was hoping for a more Fried Green Tomatoes sort of thing. Oh well, Ill just have to temper my expectations...

I liked Inception, but it only works if its a dream, so I never understood the debate.
TheWolverine08 - 6/27/2013, 1:52 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 People say Joss is overrated, yet he wrote and directed the best CBM of all time. Haters gonna hate.
Jollem - 6/27/2013, 1:53 PM
i hope joss makes avengers 2 much better. avengers 1 was enough to satisfy, but not fully sate. maybe dial down the constant comedy a bit

Serenity > Avengers
NoAssemblyReqd - 6/27/2013, 1:53 PM
I've concluded that "over-" and "underrated" are two of the most meaningless ways to describe anyone or anything.
TheAbomination - 6/27/2013, 1:55 PM
Whedon knows what he's doing. This movie's gonna be awesome.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 6/27/2013, 1:58 PM
LOL @ best cbm of all time. That would belong to Spider-man 2.

The Dark Knight shits on everything but that isn't really a COMIC BOOK movie.
jcfrommars9 - 6/27/2013, 1:59 PM

Iron Man 3 had competition, it just held up well against it.
JoeMomma29 - 6/27/2013, 2:00 PM
That is pretty funny.
DutchMovieFan - 6/27/2013, 2:03 PM
Barely a comment section without whiners, right? Sigh, kay.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 6/27/2013, 2:04 PM
Name any other cbm scene with an impact as big as this.

jcfrommars9 - 6/27/2013, 2:06 PM

Serenity had as much humor in it as the Avengers did.
Jackieisrockin - 6/27/2013, 2:06 PM
At 1:58, he sounds just like Seth Rogen. Weird...
TwiztidThorn - 6/27/2013, 2:10 PM
Jollem - 6/27/2013, 2:12 PM

@Maestro That moment was epic! Everything about Avengers was epic!
Vadakin - 6/27/2013, 2:15 PM
Man, I'm a fan of Whedon's stuff but I'm growing tired of his interviews. Just give people a straight answer or say you can't talk about it for Loki's sake.
TheWolverine08 - 6/27/2013, 2:15 PM
@Maestro Everything about Avengers was epic! It was almost too epic!
TheWolverine08 - 6/27/2013, 2:20 PM
I think Avengers 2 can surpass Avengers as the greatest CBM. I can't wait to see my favorite speedster Quicksilver on screen!
TheWolverine08 - 6/27/2013, 2:22 PM
Oh yeah, I hope Black Panther, the first black superhero, ends up in Avengers 2!
TheWolverine08 - 6/27/2013, 2:22 PM
@nibs 14.
TheWolverine08 - 6/27/2013, 2:24 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 Quicksilver will look sublime on screen! I hope they get his cocky personality down!
