Kevin Feige Hints At AVENGERS 2 In 2015; Discusses IRON MAN 3 & CAPTAIN AMERICA 2

During a lengthy interview with SHH as part of their Avengers set visit coverage, Feige drops a few tid bits on what to expect from the various Marvel sequels in production, and hints at "building towards" something big in 2015..

As you can see, the embargo has lifted on the various Avengers set visit reports from around the web. You can find most of the major revelations regarding that movie in the articles below but Kevin Feige did drop a few interesting hints about what we can expect from future Marvel films. Perhaps most intriguing is his announcement that Marvel "are thinking and plotting out towards 2015". Now that could mean a lot of things, but it certainly suggests that we can expect something big to happen three years from now. SHH make a guess that he is talking about an Avengers sequel, and although Feige doesn't confirm anything, he seems to be happy enough to let us hold to that assumption at least..

Q: So "Avengers 2" is 2015? If we're piecing together the last five minutes of this conversation. I mean, is there a framework, you call it "Avengers, Part I" is there a framework you feel that you guys want to turn it to maybe a trilogy or…?

Feige: "It's like managing any franchise. Two to three years usually is what makes the most sense. Depending what happens, it can be four years, but two to three years."

He also briefly discusses two more Marvel sequels that are in the pipeline. Don't expect any of Tony Stark's Avengers team mates to pop up for a cameo in Iron Man 3, but it seems a safe bet that S.H.I.E.L.D will feature in the Captain America sequel..

So the story that Shane is developing now on "Iron Man 3," while it does not avoid any references to "The Avengers," is very much Tony is back in his world with his players dealing with his issues and is not going to pick up the phone and call Thor or Captain America or anything like that, necessarily. It's not that won't happen down the line. It could. But particularly with "Iron Man 3," year after "The Avengers," it's more about getting Tony back into his world."

"Frankly, I think S.H.I.E.L.D. would be most relevant in a Cap sequel, because Thor has nine worlds to traverse and many, many supporting players and Iron Man has his supporting cast and many villains and plotlines to go through and Steve in the modern world sorta doesn't have an anchor and the anchor we're establishing in this one is S.H.I.E.L.D.. It's early days on "Cap 2," nobody's counting those chickens yet, but maybe there's some connection there.

Cool. I want to know what comes in 2014 though... I hope they can squeeze another film in 2013 as well.

This is what I'd like:
Iron Man 3
Thor 2
Doctor Strange
Captain America 2
Black Panther
The Incredible Hulk 2
Avengers 2 (perhaps at the end Hulk could leave the Avengers possibly going to a Defenders movie?)
Iron Fist?
Guardian's of the Galaxy?

@ superotherside: nice lists bro
Ryguy88 - 4/2/2012, 10:10 AM
3 more years of 2 hour Avengers adds I guess...I still hold out hope for good movies though.
DocDeath - 4/2/2012, 10:10 AM
Keep dreaming, hollywood will ruin all future movies down the line, let's see how good this averagers movie is going to be,
Kayo - 4/2/2012, 10:10 AM
and NOVA could be great
NextHero08 - 4/2/2012, 10:11 AM
Not looking forward. Cap has such a rich history and they shytted on it in the first film, basically trashed the whole damn thing. I don't see anything worth watching happening in Captain America 2. And just out of curiosity, is it too soon for the Avengers to be assembling? I mean in movie terms, The Hulk came first. Ironman really hasn't been a "hero" that long. Thor has only been to Earth once and since the Rainbow Bridge was destroyed. I mean they all seen to be "freshman" ya know, haven't been in the game long enough but are already forming the team known around the world. Just movin kinda fast in my eyes.
goldenavenger77 - 4/2/2012, 10:11 AM
Misha Collins for Dr. Strange

Some Winter Solider action for Captain America 2

See where The Avengers takes us first.

Could take or leave the rest.

Hell The Dark Knight Rises skips 8 years into the future, Batman has some serious time in, although he supposedly disappeared.
Comix - 4/2/2012, 10:15 AM
@Probably isnt so early as far as movie time. Like TDKR, it takes place 8 years later....I think...
DocDeath - 4/2/2012, 10:16 AM
For averagers... Please be a awesome mysterious villain ... Like Thomous ,

Ryguy88 - 4/2/2012, 10:21 AM
TheSharkKnight, note the part where Superotherside states, "This is what I'd like."
IronDean2099 - 4/2/2012, 10:22 AM
Kevin Feige has maintained that Marvel will stick to the two films a year formula after the Avengers. We've got Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 in 2013. Assuming we get Captain America 2 in 2014 then they really need to do Ant-Man the same year to give themselves enough time to set up Pym-Ultron-Vision. UNLESS, they do Ant-Man the same year as Avengers 2 which means they could do aother character in 2014 because I really want to see either Dr Strange or Black Panther.
MovieMaster - 4/2/2012, 10:22 AM
IronDean2099 - 4/2/2012, 10:24 AM
Nova is one of my favorite characters but I sincerely doubt we'll ever get a Nova movie because the story is just too damn similar to that of Green Lantern.
RedSkull667 - 4/2/2012, 10:27 AM
My friends at Disney India tell me that Marvel and Disney are thinking about two movies for summer and a movie in Fall ( during Oct-Jan I guess)

they'll start by experimenting Thor 2 by releasing in Nov and if it works they may start releasing 3 movies a year
MovieMaster - 4/2/2012, 10:29 AM
^^ I don't necessarily believe you, but that seems quite likely.
DocDeath - 4/2/2012, 10:41 AM
Going off topic- xmen 2 should be retro styled like in the 70-80s with all the original xmen back eg Cyclopes , have mr sinister as a villain , then in part 3 have cable come - and explain their was a time riff which explains why we have the past movies and wrong time continuity in the movies - have apocolipes as the villain , oh and the next deadpool movie should have Cable in it, it's a must!!!
DocDeath - 4/2/2012, 10:48 AM
I guess when the best comicbook movie is done (tdkr) we will the cheap substitute of marvels movies to fill our voids, there will be a massive funeral for the nolaninites - I'll be at that funral also ,,,,,,,;(((
DocDeath - 4/2/2012, 10:49 AM
let's see how good the next wolverine movie is going to be???
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 4/2/2012, 10:50 AM
Just don't over saturate the market, because as history has shown us, people will stop caring.
Curmudgeon - 4/2/2012, 10:51 AM
I still really don't see it going past 2 films a year -- unless they know in advance that Fox and Sony have nothing planned with their films.

Of the three companies putting out Marvel-branded films, I think Marvel Studios would be the one smart enough to avoid over-saturating the market.

2013 - IM3 / Thor 2
2014 - Ant-Man / Cap 2
2015 - Dr. Strange / Avengers 2
95 - 4/2/2012, 10:54 AM
Guardians of the Galaxy?
LMFA0 - 4/2/2012, 10:55 AM
how long does it take for a movie to go through all the stages of production in order to be released? I think that if there were going to be a Doctor Strange movie in 2013, we would already here about it and it would start filming soon. Having said that, Thor 2 is coming out in November of 2013, Iron Man 3 comes out summer of 2013. Doctor Strange would have to have a full cast, script, director, and go through the rest of the stages of pre-production in the next month or two in order to have enough time to also be released next year. So, no, we wont be getting Doctor Strange next year.

Itll probably end up being:
Iron man 3 and Thor 2 - 2013

Captain America 2 and Ant Man - 2014

Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange or Avengers 2 - 2015

No talk of Black Panther movie at all, yet. Hopefully they dont do an SHIELD movie either and just throw them in with Captain America, like this article suggests
LMFA0 - 4/2/2012, 10:56 AM
@ RidiculousFanboy

Where is your research proving this? lol
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 4/2/2012, 10:56 AM
I don't know Curmudgeon it is Disney and if they can't find a Franchise to make them money that doesn't involve Pirates and or Johnny Depp, I could see them releasing a ton of comic book movies our way.

The trick I think for Disney is if The Avengers is as great as I think it will be, having people care about the characters individually again.
DocDeath - 4/2/2012, 10:58 AM
I agree with fanboydemand it's over saturation - we got too many comic movies plus spiderman , it's a comic geeks wet dream for now, but marvel makes quanity while dc is for the quality route,,, Jesus green lantern movie sucked so bad !!!!
Fogs - 4/2/2012, 11:01 AM
"over saturate the market"...

And people will watch. They love sequels.

As long as the movies are good I'm fine.

OK, actually I'm more a "apeshit-crazy-happy-mofo".
goldenavenger77 - 4/2/2012, 11:01 AM

That last Wolverine movie was lame anyway. Any Marvel fan would agree.

Fogs - 4/2/2012, 11:02 AM
@DocDeath - "marvel makes quan[t]ity while dc is for the quality route"

Really? In what world?
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 4/2/2012, 11:02 AM
I think the Marvel movies are just fine. I really enjoyed Iron Man, had a lot of fun watching Thor and Incredible Hulk. The only two I didn't like was Captain America and Iron Man 2.
Fogs - 4/2/2012, 11:03 AM
@goldenavenger77 - oh I thought we were talkin marvel STUDIOS here. sorry.
