Kevin Feige Talks Avengers 2 Team Changes And Teases Plans For Loki's Alien Army!

Revealing that he'd like to see the roster of The Avengers be changed in the planned sequel, the Marvel Studios boss also reveals that there are big plans for Loki's mysterious alien army AFTER their debut next year...

Talking to IGN Movies, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige was asked by the site about both the possibility and his thoughts on changing the roster of The Avengers in the sequel. Whether this means we'll see the likes of Ant-Man or Doctor Strange join the team is unknown at this point, but I'm sure many fans would happily wait an extra few years for The Avengers 2 if it means seeing those heroes assemble alongside the rest!

"Absolutely. That's the fun of it -- introducing new characters. Seeing: 'How will things change after Iron Man goes through his next adventure? After Thor goes through his next adventure? If we do another Cap adventure, how will things change? The dynamic between them? Their own worlds? So that the dynamic in Avengers 2 is actually quite different than it is in the first one."

And in a separate interview with the site, Feige was quizzed on Loki's mysterious army (who have so far only been spotted in the form of stuntmen in mocap suits taking on Chris "Captain America" Evans and Chris "Thor" Hemsworth on the Cleveland set) and teased fans with the revelation that Marvel Studios have plans for them in future...who else wants to be that they'll either be related to the Inhumans or Guardians of the Galaxy? Here's what he had to say.

"[Loki] does say to Tony Stark at the end of the footage we showed today, he tells Tony that he has an army. And that army is not just stuntmen in mocap suits. It'll be extremely, extremely large and something that links not only into the movies we've made but the movies we're going to make. So it's a big play that we're not quite ready to talk about."

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

"we're not ready to talk about"

Really? Oh take your time... What I don't get is why the secrecy? Why does it matter if people know who they are?

looks like they plan to make a cinematic epics in the same mould as starwars by linking everything in line with future movies yet to be made

But lets see how things pan out in 3-4 years time, avengers 1 is not even finished post production yet he already talking about avengers 2 when thor 2 and ironman 3 not even made, nothing wrong getting exicted like kevin clearly is but one movie at a time kevin! lol!
RunDTC - 10/17/2011, 11:59 AM
I want the Masters of Evil for Avengers 2!
tazmaniak - 10/17/2011, 11:59 AM
I'm not sure if it matters if people know who they are, but I think they may want to have a sort of special reveal.Maybe they want you to see it instead of just telling you who they are.

Or, maybe it does matter. He does say they play into future movies and they're not ready to talk about it until they get those movies lined up.The identity of the army is probably a giveaway to what's coming up and they want to hold on to that info until they announce future projects.
WingHead - 10/17/2011, 12:04 PM
Avengers trailer was downloaded 10 million times in 24 hrs. I think it's safe to say there will be a sequel. Iron Man 3 will be a financial success simply bc it's the 3rd and has RDJ.

I hope when he said 'if we do another Cap film' that he was just being coy and not trying to give it away that it's already planned.
Mrcool210 - 10/17/2011, 12:05 PM
cmon really? your already shooting your mouth off about avengers 2? wait until the first movie at least relases first
warlock - 10/17/2011, 12:07 PM
Hope is the skrulls.
deanwilkins - 10/17/2011, 12:07 PM
I don't really care who the army is. I just want to see this movie! Everything I've seen about it has been amazing. A friend of mine saw a short screening of Spider-Man. He only had good things to say, especially regarding the relationship between Gwen and Peter, as well as 2 particular fight scenes - one in school and one on the train. We're going to get a Spidey who actually cracks jokes, etc. 2012 will be amazing for Marvel.

@everyone thinking just the Masters of Evil for the sequel

Naw, I don't think the sequel should have the Masters of Evil. Instead why not Ultron AND the Masters of Evil; than that will blow us the [frick] away!
NOLANITE - 10/17/2011, 12:07 PM
Its all relevant to star wars. Attack of the clones anyone?
Shaman - 10/17/2011, 12:08 PM
Bring in Ms. Marvel STAT cause the sausage fest is beginning to smell a bit smokey.
SHIRO - 10/17/2011, 12:09 PM
Kevin Feige is such a big tease...

ROBBEATZZZ - 10/17/2011, 12:10 PM
StrangerX - 10/17/2011, 12:11 PM

SteveScotland - 10/17/2011, 12:18 PM

NextHero08 - 10/17/2011, 12:26 PM

Fogs - 10/17/2011, 12:37 PM
I'm also with Intruder... THANOS!

And Kree/Skrull war in the 3rd.

And there's nothing wrong on talking about Avengers 2 now. This movie is gonna make sooo much money... Just talk to people who aren't into comics but saw the previous movies, all are anxious to see them together.

My wife went OMFGMFSOB when Hulk appeared: "WOW, HULK TOO?!?!? WOOOW!!"
souhunter - 10/17/2011, 12:37 PM

Inhumans it is he already said there making an inhumans movie so if your smart you can piece this one together. im fine with that it makes sense and opens a lot of doors as to where they can take there up coming movies....go marvel gutsy but smart.
Shaman - 10/17/2011, 12:44 PM
Aklash- Your wife sounds hot!
Fonzieismypal - 10/17/2011, 12:44 PM
Please no Skrulls... They can't do the Skrull v Kree war in one movie. It will need sequels; and I don't know about you guys, but I want to see Ultron!
Ha1frican - 10/17/2011, 12:53 PM
they better not change the line up too much, they can get rid of hawkeye and BW in favor of Ant man and Wasp but if I dont get Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, and agent coulson (yeah I said it)im gonna be dissapointed
Neo3 - 10/17/2011, 12:54 PM
Did Feige give it away when he said this: and something that links not only into the movies we've made. So is it something from the previous movies? Maybe something from Odin's valut.
Fogs - 10/17/2011, 12:55 PM
Shaman - LOL! She's also pregnant. :P
HelaGood - 10/17/2011, 12:58 PM
its not the skrulls...

but i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Orphix - 10/17/2011, 1:00 PM
@Intruder - I get what you're saying about The MOE butI believe it can be done pretty cleverly.

It doesn't have to be a cheesefest.

The whole theme that the avengers film is exploring is 'the team'. Loki's line about "In the end it will be everyman for himself" just shows us how 'anti-team' he is. And thats how they're gonna explore it.

So I could easily see with expanding that theme in the sequel. A group of villains teaming up to beat the avengers at their own game, so to speak.

It just has to be written cleverly. No villain sees themselves that way. They just see themselves reaching their goals by different means. Red Skull is the only person I can think of in the MCU who is all out pure evil just because he is. The rest have, what they believe, as legitamate motives.
Fogs - 10/17/2011, 1:02 PM
^^ Damn, there's something you want to share? [email protected]
Fogs - 10/17/2011, 1:02 PM
That was for Hela
marvelsnkcapcom10 - 10/17/2011, 1:10 PM
Awesome! I love the way they are keeping everything under wraps. Keeping everyone in anticipated suspense so nothing exciting gets leaked out and keeps everyone guessing. Love it !
marvel72 - 10/17/2011, 1:19 PM
the avengers 2 ultron with heroes maybe vision, scarlett witch & wonderman.

the avengers 3 any of these masters of evil, skrulls or thanos introduce ms.marvel.
LeoAtrox - 10/17/2011, 1:24 PM
One of the things that bothered me about the trailer was Thor coming down on Cap's shield ... I know that there will be tension between the characters, but I thought it was a bit odd--even as out of place as he feels--that Cap would be one of the guys involved in one of these altercations. Reading this, it suddently dawned on me that one of the two might not be himself, or might have reason to believe the other is not himself. Shape-shifter anybody? I still want Loki's army to be of Atlantean origin, but Skrulls/Chitauri are feeling a bit more "right" at the moment.
soberchimera - 10/17/2011, 1:35 PM
Avengers 1: Loki and Thanos (possibly Skrulls)
Avengers 2: Kang the Conqueror
Avengers 3: Ultron
KingLing - 10/17/2011, 1:42 PM
They have still never directly said aliens. The title of this peace was misleading. It still could be atlanteans or something. I really don't want aliens. I want the more grounded-in-reality deal. I know Thor's inclusion at all scales that back, but still, I retain hope.
avenger1 - 10/17/2011, 1:48 PM
aliens can be from underwater too...
