FEATURE: Now that we know there will be more Avengers and Marvel movies, who could be the villains?
Who will be the villains for the upcoming Thor 2, Iron Man 3, Captain America 2 movies?
Will Thor battle the evil seductress Enchantress and her sidekick the Executioner? Is Captain America going to tangle with Baron Zemo? Will the Hulk face his greatest nemesis the brainy Leader? Would Marvel and Disney dare introduce Iron Man’s greatest villains, the Radioactive Man or the Mandarin?
With opening weekend numbers of $207 million domestically in the United States, and a total of $702 million worldwide, Disney is now reportedly looking to make a sequel of “The Avengers”. Movie goers probably already knew that there was going to be a sequel once they saw who was in the finale of the movie. There are also reports that there will also be a “Thor 2” and an “Iron Man 3” in the works, plus a new Captain America movie premiering in 2014. One of the major fan favorites in “The Avengers” was the return of the Hulk. If Disney studios and Marvel were smart they would certainly create a new Hulk movie. The Hulk character was the break out star in “The Avengers” movie.
With plans for all these new movies for the separate Avengers, one question for comic book fans is who is going to be the villains in these movies? How will some of the iconic villains of Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and the Hulk transfer to the movie screen? Would Disney alienate the large new Chinese movie viewing market by introducing Iron Mans’ greatest villains, Radioactive Man, or the Mandarin? The Radioactive Man and the Mandarin are both Chinese characters. Disney would not want to alienate a new growing market so Iron Man would have to fight another villain. One major point of Iron Man battling the Radioactive Man, the Radioactive Man was one of the early Masters of Evil, the major group against the Avengers. There is also the Mysterious Melter. Who do Marvel comic book fans think that villain will be?
In the case of Captain America he had another Nazi era villain, besides the Red Skull, named Baron Zemo who was the creator of the anti-Avengers, the Masters of Evil. The Masters of Evil were the main nemesis of the early Avengers, and Zemo was their leader. When Captain America was re-introduced in the early 1960s Zemo was only twenty years older from his 1940s Nazi era persona, but the “Captain America 2” movie is not being made for the late 1960s, but for 2014. Unless there is some sort of twist Captain America will have to fight another one of his nemesis. Who do Marvel comic fans think will be chosen to face Cap. America?
Thor has many enemies who would translate very well from the pages of his comic books to the major movie screen. Thinking out side of the box I would go with the seductress wily Enchantress, and her trusty ally, the Executioner. They would make a great villainous duo for fellow Asgardian Thor. Loki could make a resurgence since he controlled the evil Enchantress. Plus the Enchantress and the Executioner were part of Zemo’s Masters of Evil. There are so many villains. Who do Marvel comic book fans think should his villain be in the second Thor movie?
If Disney and Marvel introduced Baron Zemo, the Enchantress, the Executioner and the Radioactive Man in the separate movies they could bring them all together for a possible “Avengers 3”, a battle of the Avengers against the Masters of Evil. That would be epic.
Then there is the Hulk. There is no news about a new Hulk movie, yet everyone who saw “The Avengers” is in almost total agreement that a new Hulk movie should be made. For that movie I would suggest one of Hulk’s most intellectual villains, the Leader. The Leader created robotic machines and weapons that he used against the Hulk. It would be brains vs brawn, or would you rather see another Hulk villain?
Last but not least, how about a Black Widow/Hawkeye movie?
