THE AVENGERS Alternate Opening Blu-ray/DVD Deleted Scene

THE AVENGERS Alternate Opening Blu-ray/DVD Deleted Scene

Alternate opening for The Avengers picks up at the aftermath of the climactic battle with the Chitauri in the streets of New York. Maria Hill has to account for the actions and destruction caused by Nick Fury and co.

I must say, that was pretty interesting and definitely inline with the comic book depiction of Maria Hill. That scene makes me curios as to whether Whedon planned to cut to the opening scene at Project Pegasus or to another scene from the film. Perhaps there will be commentary on the blu-ray/dvd which explains the decision behind the cut. The film will be released for your home viewing pleasures on September 25th.

The Avengers is an American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. ElBicho - 8/28/2012, 10:54 AM
Not too shabby, but I definitely prefer the opening they have.
Lightsplasher - 8/28/2012, 11:08 AM

This was posted already.
rocky - 8/28/2012, 11:14 AM
This would have been even better. I wish they had used this instead, it brings a certain level somberness to the whole film

Plus it opens the door to some sort of "registration act" adaptation for the sequel
razor - 8/28/2012, 11:16 AM
meh... I agree with genesis609. She can't act. It would have ruined it before the movie realy started.
daveB - 8/28/2012, 11:16 AM
the opening they used was better.
OrganizedChaos - 8/28/2012, 11:20 AM
I like Cobie Smulders but.....yeah...terrible acting in that scene...
GoILL - 8/28/2012, 11:22 AM
Not bad, in agreement that the opening they used was the better one.
marvel72 - 8/28/2012, 11:25 AM
not gonna watch,i'm gonna buy the blu-ray enjoy everything then.
Limehead - 8/28/2012, 11:26 AM
If they did have that, it would be the 5th MCU movie to start with the ending and then rewind. Its about time they switched it up.
StormLoganSummers - 8/28/2012, 11:32 AM
@Limehead What other MCU movies started with the ending besides Captain America?
Equivocal - 8/28/2012, 11:37 AM

indeed we do !!!!!
OwenWilsonsNose - 8/28/2012, 11:37 AM
That would have been a really meh opening. Glad they went with the one they did.
BIGBMH - 8/28/2012, 11:38 AM
It doesn't quite fit with the tone of the ending. IMO, the feeling at the end was very positive and triumphant. They did not forget the loss, but overall it seems like the world embraced the Avengers and were grateful for what they did. This seems too somber and like it ends on more of a down note.
Marqy - 8/28/2012, 11:42 AM
I know she is supposed to be Maria Hill but when I see her all I can think about is

"Kids In the summer of 2012 your aunt Robin was bla bla bla ..."
NorrinRaddical - 8/28/2012, 11:45 AM
I loved the Avengers, but I thought this alternative opening (and eventually alternate ending) is pretty weak. happy exactly as it is
ImnotDaredevil - 8/28/2012, 11:46 AM
Even though I'm getting married in early October, this DVD release is my next big moment on my calendar! Can't wait.
CaptainObvious - 8/28/2012, 11:47 AM
I think this was cut because it goes against the film's lighter tone.
GoILL - 8/28/2012, 11:47 AM
@Maxi91291 LMAO.
SoSayethTheSpiderman - 8/28/2012, 11:50 AM
Umm, shut the eff up Maria. Whatever the death toll was, it's infinitely better than 8 million dead and an Isle of Manhattan that won't be inhabitable for another 200 years like your precious cool, calm and collected world leaders wanted.
Marqy - 8/28/2012, 11:50 AM

Congrats dude ... I know we dont even know eachother but its common courtesy
TheManWithBigEars - 8/28/2012, 11:58 AM
I really dont c the appeal with Smoulders
She seems so lifeless n passionless, I feel bored watching her, definitely a unnecessary addition 2 this film, they could've gone with anyone but her...
Mrcool210 - 8/28/2012, 12:03 PM
[frick], that hulk thing scared the shit out of me
ralfinader - 8/28/2012, 12:06 PM
Reminds me of the opening scene of Big Trouble in Little China, probably best it got cut.
PersonaPostOvo - 8/28/2012, 12:09 PM
Why is this labeled as an alternate opening? It plays too much like the ending
Bread - 8/28/2012, 12:09 PM
I like it
TheAbomination - 8/28/2012, 12:09 PM
Hahaha that was amazing, but I think the opening they used was better.
Angelus - 8/28/2012, 12:14 PM
BackwardGalaxy - 8/28/2012, 12:16 PM
She is a terrible actor.
Marqy - 8/28/2012, 12:19 PM
OK, this scene ... meh .. but the cap scene (some of you have seen it when it was posted previously) .. that scene was so amazing I dont understand why that one wasnt in the movie
PeterDarker121 - 8/28/2012, 12:28 PM
The fact of the matter is, there are two separate 'The Avengers': The one that was released, and the uncut version. It's weird seeing individual scenes that were left on the cutting room floor then debating whether or not they should have been included in the version we all saw. This opening is a little too pretentious and cheesy as it relates to the version he released.

Whedon should have just released a cut with all of the deleted scenes intact as well as the theatrical version on an ever DOPER Deluxe Blu-Ray package.
Ancar - 8/28/2012, 12:35 PM
Well done - with the cut!
RAWRG - 8/28/2012, 12:43 PM
I like this opening and the original opening but I prefer the original butthis ending could've gave Maria Hill more character development can't wait to see where they take the character next. Cobie is a pretty decent actress...
Brady1138 - 8/28/2012, 1:02 PM
It's ok, but it's so unfitting of the tone of the rest of the film, I question why they even bothered to film it.
Logan5 - 8/28/2012, 1:06 PM
Yeah, this opening comes off like Egg Shen's introduction at the beginning of Big Trouble in Little China.
