UPDATE: Tom Hiddleston Knows IF ‘Loki’ Is In THE AVENGERS 2? Nope!

UPDATE: Tom Hiddleston Knows IF ‘Loki’ Is In THE AVENGERS 2? Nope!

Remaining tight-lipped obviously, English actor Tom Hiddleston has reportedly confirmed talking with The Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon about Loki’s potential involvement with the 2015 sequel!

Tom Hiddleston was asked late last year, just weeks after Thor: The Dark World wrapped filming, would he return as Marvel’s God of Mischief for a fourth time in Joss Whedon’s 2015 follow-up to The Avengers. Responding then that he hadn’t talked with the filmmaker about the possibility, during tonight’s Jameson Empire Awards, the British actor indicated he now knows whether Loki will go up against his step-brother, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes yet again.

UPDATE: It seems I jumped the gun yesterday. Video of Tom Hiddleston discussing The Avengers sequel reveals that the English still knows nothing about the film or whether he’ll return.

Evidently, this doesn’t mean Hiddleston will indeed reprise the role in The Avengers sequel, especially considering a new threat for the team is inevitable. However, there was a similar situation last year with Thor actress Kat Dennings, who is in fact returning in The Dark World. Also, Marvel hasn’t been shy about the desire to have the mischief-maker appear in multiple films throughout the cinematic universe. Of course, we won’t know for sure until Marvel confirms it or a certain media outlet gets the scoop. But, we could at least have a clue whether he’ll return, even if it’s only a cameo, based on Loki’s fate in at the end of Thor: The Dark World. What do you think?

Marvel Studios already describes their highly-anticipated sequel to the No. 3 highest grossing film of all time, “Marvel's The Avengers,” as another “big cinematic event.” And expected to feature the reassembly of iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow & Nick Fury taking on a new unexpected enemy, new additions to the superhero team up of a lifetime are possible.

Expecting reprisals from Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon from a screenplay by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” sequel is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. And set for release May 1, 2015, the film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to the sequel, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; and “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014.

How does this qualify as news. Maybe the conversation went like this
Tom: Am I in A2
Joss: No.
Tom: Okay, cool.
DCMarvelFreshman - 3/24/2013, 2:50 PM
@NovaCorpsfan Because the last time he was asked, he said he hadn't spoken to Joss and, therefore, had no idea if he'd return. If the conversation did go that way, at least we'd know he wasn't returning.
Invictor - 3/24/2013, 3:03 PM
I just know the film will be good!
SuperDude001 - 3/24/2013, 3:03 PM
I'd prefer Loki die in The Dark World, but maybe like a redeeming death. Like I know Loki wouldn't, just Hiddleston's Loki seems like he could turn vaguely good for a good old cliche death. Though tbh as long as he dies somewhere in either Thor:TDW or Avengers 2 I'm fine, Loki just needs to end in my opinion (unless he turns good, I just don't want him to be a villain that is always there).
Invictor - 3/24/2013, 3:03 PM
I just hope........
Invictor - 3/24/2013, 3:04 PM
@SuperDude001, it would be bizarre to see Loki return in his female counterpart.
TheManFromMars - 3/24/2013, 3:04 PM

Me too!

SuperDude001 - 3/24/2013, 3:05 PM
Marauder @ Hmmm...female counterpart could work actually...though not sure who could pull off a Loki as fine as Hiddleston's.
DrDoom - 3/24/2013, 3:15 PM
A cameo would be nice, I suppose, but I don't think Loki will have any kind of serious role in Avengers 2. I wouldn't actually mind if, Loki returned as the villain in Avengers 5 or 6, but the Avengers had to fight him when he attempts to take over Asgard. That'd be sweet.
Nathan - 3/24/2013, 3:26 PM
Have there be Space Scenes like in The Avengers showing "behind the scenes" of a battle taking place on Earth and have Loki be there maybe just sitting on some kind of throne or around a table. I really hope we see scenes in Thor 2 or The Avengers 2 of Thanos and Loki together.

Aside from Hulk, Thor is the most powerful Avenger and poses the biggest threat to the other world enemies of Earth, so it would only make sense that they would need to be aided by Loki, who knows Thor better than anyone.
FrenzyFreak - 3/24/2013, 3:27 PM
He's obviously isn't gonna have a major role if at all. If he is, I would say he either is a part of the masters of evil or maybe if he gets redemption in TTDW he helps the avengers take down the threat in A2 which would be cool.
TheManFromMars - 3/24/2013, 3:32 PM

You made it sound more complicated than it really is.

But, basically, yeah, you're up to speed.
Nathan - 3/24/2013, 3:36 PM
I don't want him to "redeem" himself yet, save that for The Avengers 3. I want Loki to get even more evil.
DrDoom - 3/24/2013, 3:39 PM
I don't want Loki redeemed. He's one of Marvel's greatest archvillains.
PaulRom - 3/24/2013, 3:45 PM
If he appears, I'm sure it'll be in a small role. Marvel isn't stupid enough to have him be a main villain yet again. I'd personally reserve Loki for the Thor films with a cameo or two in other films.
siggisuperman - 3/24/2013, 4:06 PM
Loki, thought to be the puppet of Thanos, is revealed in a small scene too be the puppetmaster himself, everything somehow a part in his brilliant little scheme
marvel72 - 3/24/2013, 4:14 PM
only as a secondary villain,i'd rather see someone new & different i.e thanos, ultron, kang or the masters of evil.
Fantine - 3/24/2013, 4:15 PM
kinda hope hes not, would like a little focus on someone else. This aint "THE LOKI SHOW"
OrgasmicPotatoe - 3/24/2013, 4:18 PM
He said he'd play the character for as long as the fans wants him to, so I think it's a safe bet to say he does not die in Thor: The Dark World.
ForeverPowerful - 3/24/2013, 4:26 PM
If Thanos is involved, I can imagine Loki will show up in some capacity. Probably just a bigger cameo, due to his work with him in The Avengers.
marvel72 - 3/24/2013, 4:33 PM
@ MrSteiners

maybe,i think odin will die & thor will become king.
KaneRomita - 3/24/2013, 4:33 PM
I'm always happy to see him play Loki but let's move on to other villains.
ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 3/24/2013, 4:37 PM
lmbo NO!!
Nick56 - 3/24/2013, 4:40 PM
Too much Loki.
xfan320 - 3/24/2013, 4:42 PM
@mercwitham0uth -- THAT would be utterly SWEET!!!

Plus, it carries the theme of Loki handing over immensely powerful objects for his own personal gain.. also, saves the hassle of explaining how thanos' somehow steals it from Odin's treasure vault.

All of phase 2 has me so excited!!!

Marvel= WINNING!!!
DrDoom - 3/24/2013, 4:48 PM

Why would Loki give Thanos the Infinity Gauntlet to save his life? Loki could just put it on and give Thanos a cosmic beatdown.
ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 3/24/2013, 4:50 PM
ah [frick], drdoom beat me to it. i hope latveria burns :P
DrDoom - 3/24/2013, 4:54 PM
When the dust settles.... Latveria will be the only country NOT burning.
StormLoganSummers - 3/24/2013, 4:59 PM
I hope he returns.
ATrueHero1987 - 3/24/2013, 5:02 PM

Anyway, he does have unfinished business with The Other & Thanos. He was warned what would happen if he failed. IF he is in The Avengers 2, I expect it to be a minor role.
BatOnTheBrain - 3/24/2013, 5:04 PM
Hoping Thanos makes good on the promise to loki that there will b nowhere to hide from him and that the pain he will inflict will be like nothing he has experienced. Straight up if that happens loki should be scared cause with threats like that u know Thanos ant [frick]ing around !!!
Kevinwillpeabodyproperties - 3/24/2013, 5:06 PM
i would love to see thanks smack around loki brutally like bane did to batman. can u imagine.
ricko8687 - 3/24/2013, 5:09 PM
I just want to see the Enchantress in one of thorns films
Tareeves89 - 3/24/2013, 5:13 PM
@mercwitham0uth My thoughts exactly. I think that'd be a good way for them to keep him a bad guy, have him spared and disappear hiding from Thanos
TheIconicMan - 3/24/2013, 5:16 PM
@ricko8687 Exactly! And Lena Headey for the role..
Bread - 3/24/2013, 5:18 PM
I just want a good Thanos movie, be it in A2 or GOTG I don't care, I just want to see the Mad Titan done well.
Bread - 3/24/2013, 5:21 PM
I want Loki to steal the Gauntlet and bring it to Thanos in TDW, and then have Loki imprisoned in Limbo for his war crimes and theft from Odin. In a different movie (whichever one will be about Thanos, A2 or GOTG) have Thanos free Loki only to kill him.
gambgel - 3/24/2013, 5:24 PM
I like Loki, but lets hope he is a very secondary villain on the sequel. Its time for some new blood
TheManFromMars - 3/24/2013, 5:25 PM
DrDoom - 3/24/2013, 5:28 PM

Me too. Enchantress is one of Marvel's best female villains; she deserves time on the big screen.
