BATMAN: Christian Calls Cancer Patient in Hospital

BATMAN: Christian Calls Cancer Patient in Hospital

Kudos to Christian Bale! Looks like he's working hard to change his sometimes negative image. He's taken time out to be kind to a 7-year-old kid (and Batman fan) named Zach Guillot who is battling Leukemia.

First the Aurora shooting victims, now this. Bale is acting like a superhero on and off the big screen. I'm sure this little kid got a big boost when he heard who it was calling him--although I didn't hear if Christian put on the deep gravelly voice or not. It's kind of hard to hear.

Be sure to give Zach your best wishes on facebook. Find him at "Zach Attacks Leukemia". And our thanks to "David" for the head's up!

Christian Bale may be an eccentric at times but he is beyond awesome!
Blackvoid - 1/18/2013, 2:16 PM
Well that kid looked like he really enjoyed talking to christian, Its amazing how such a little thing from a celebrity can help lift the spirits of someone, I'ts nice to see this, a generous, and honest gesture from a huge celeb. Kudos to you Christian, and to Zack, I hope you get better bud.

Like " Zack Attacks Leukemia."
CoolantTech - 1/18/2013, 2:19 PM

PaulRom - 1/18/2013, 2:22 PM
Really cool. Bale's certainly living up to his name. Makes me love him even more.
Silentman - 1/18/2013, 2:32 PM
really great to see bale do things like this. he really understands the responsibility of being the on screen batman for a time and doesn't hesitate to reach out to fans. kudos to him, and i hope zack makes a speedy recovery.
ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 1/18/2013, 2:33 PM
way to go Bale, speed recovery to the little warrior zach.
thewonderer - 1/18/2013, 2:34 PM
Bale is and will always be The Dark Knight to me,

Nothing but respect for you Christian Bale, one of the best and nicest actors out there.
Mendenhall12 - 1/18/2013, 2:34 PM
Christian is beyond a class act. Nothing but, respect for the guy. Hope and pray Zach comes out of this stronger than ever.
VIRILEMAN - 1/18/2013, 2:37 PM
HE CALLED THE KID! ON THE PHONE! YOU MEAN HE TOOK THE TIME TO CALL SOMEONE WHO HAS CANCER! What a true blue American hero! It doesn't take much for you guys to call someone a hero does it? My wife has spent hundreds of hours at the local children's hospital doing volunteer work, and this over paid actor spends 15 minutes calling a kid on the phone and he's a hero.

You are all a bunch of children looking up to a bunch of actors. Grow up and look up to someone worthy of being called a hero.
NerdyGeek - 1/18/2013, 2:39 PM
What a professional and class act. Way to go Bale.

Get well Zach.
Azazel1 - 1/18/2013, 2:40 PM
Bale is a class act.

Awesome dude and not the first time he has done this..
ALmazing - 1/18/2013, 2:49 PM
You don't have to wear a cape to be a hero. Thank you Christian.
Ranger14 - 1/18/2013, 2:49 PM
Yes, it can be cool when celebrities do this, but do they do it because they are moved to do it on their own, or is it setup by the PR person? That happens all the time, especially when they are trying to clean up negative images. I know a number of celebrities who volunteer and do things like this all the time because that is where their heart is. The occasional "drive-by" make a call or visit a kid seems to be over-glorified when it comes to celebrities when we don't necessarily know the motivation and intent behind it. Kudos to him if it was done out of the goodness of his heart, though I don't think a big-name celebrity should get any more attention for it then people who do it on a regular basis.
BIGBMH - 1/18/2013, 2:50 PM
Very kind of Bale. I wish the best for the kid and his family.
ManOfKrypton - 1/18/2013, 2:51 PM

Ive heard nothing but good things about Bale. He seems like a great and friendly guy. Nice job Mr. Bale.
ForeverPowerful - 1/18/2013, 2:55 PM
He will always be Batman in my mind. One of my favorite actors, and a standup guy.

@VIRILEMAN - Dick head, give the guy some respect hes a good man for that. Some celebs dont even care they just want the image OF BEING THE NEXT "it" celeb, but for the rest of the caring actors, actress ect they take there schedule and pauses it to show that they care for there fans and they lift there fans spirit and gives them strength.Any Man,Woman who does that deserves to be a called a hero in my book.
Jollem - 1/18/2013, 3:10 PM
quality fellow
Ranger14 - 1/18/2013, 3:20 PM
Levitkuz@ I didn't say he necessarily did it for PR, but there are plenty of celebrities who do it for that reason. I work in the nonprofit sector and have worked with many celebrity charity events and after watching interviews and visiting with various celebrities, it becomes easy to spot which ones are disingenuous and which ones aren't. I am not saying Bale is or isn't. My degree is in Public Relations and there is a difference between most people's perception of press and public relations. Most big name celebrities have PR agents, including Bale.

I am liking this guy more and more. good for him! And I wish the best for the kid
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 1/18/2013, 3:35 PM
Whether it was out of the goodness of his heart or not, he lifted that child's spirit and that is all that matters.
carrie - 1/18/2013, 3:36 PM
i just read the story on Facebook and i retweeted it!
i don't see a RP move.
All i see is a video posted by the parents on Youtube and found by the fans.
i hope the best for Zach and his family
Bale yet met a Batman fan leukemia kid Jayden at Disneyland (he paid the trip) 4 months ago AND 5/4 years ago,he yet visited Leukemia kid (around 4:00)
fes81 - 1/18/2013, 3:51 PM
Ranger14, I think that bale does this often. A while ago, I think after TDK, he also visited a kid in chicago that wrote him a letter telling him how he was his fave superhero. The kid lived in this projects that Bale was trying to bring to LA. That just does not always appear in the media.
dracula - 1/18/2013, 4:08 PM
its things like this that shows how great people can be like christain bale ron perlman and jj abrams
dracula - 1/18/2013, 4:09 PM
hope this kids makes it to bad about the guy who got to see star trek into darkness
TheScarletSpider - 1/18/2013, 4:34 PM
This makes me cry, hope the kid recovers from cancer and will get a good life and have a great wife and good kids
ceramyctyle - 1/18/2013, 4:36 PM
First off, much respect to admiration to your wife for the good work she does, we need more people like her, definitely.
Second, the name of this site is "comicbookmovie", and thus, this is a related story. This little guy is obviously a Batman fan, and talking to Bale really lifted his spirits. I think that's where the focus should be.
AsianVersionOfET - 1/18/2013, 5:14 PM
Bale kicks so much ass. Best of luck to that kid.
Shadyrecordsrules - 1/18/2013, 5:21 PM
Christian Bale is the reason someone can be called a hero
Bandido - 1/18/2013, 5:30 PM
What a great guy :) bale is so awesome
ShadesAtKnightII - 1/18/2013, 6:21 PM
Bale is full of class.
Zordan - 1/18/2013, 7:01 PM
bale is awesome. get well zach!
Jimdlux - 1/18/2013, 7:19 PM
I agree with VIRILEMAN. I keep reading people saying stuff like, "I've never heard a bad thing about Bale" and how he is a great actor. This is the 1st time I ever heard anything positive about Bale and as for the great actor...I guess it takes alot to sound like you are gargling glass and looking stoic! He made a phone call...This is obviously a PR stunt. How about all the times Johnny Depp visited a children's hospitals and visited schools dressed as Jack Sparrow to raise spirits. That is someone who cares.
Maximus101 - 1/18/2013, 7:31 PM
@jimdlux he visited the shooting victims of the aurora shooting so that would be two positive things he had done..
