Hit the jump to see thirty-two behind-the-scenes images from interrogation scene from Christopher Nolan's masterpiece, The Dark Knight. The legendary scene is a master class in acting by Christian Bale (Batman) and Oscar-winner Heath Ledger (The Joker).

THE DARK KNIGHT (2008) reunites director Christopher Nolan ("The Prestige") with star Christian Bale ("Empire of the Sun"), who returns to continue Batman’s war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.

THE DARK KNIGHT (2008) was directed by Christopher Nolan, from a script written by Jonathan Nolan, David S. Goyer and of course Christopher Nolan himself. The film starred: Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Heath Ledger as Joker, Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, Michael Caine as Alfred, Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel, Gary Oldman as Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow, and Eric Roberts as Maroni.

Why can't more movies be this epic?
Abary - 8/17/2014, 1:53 PM
Ah, the interrogation scene; easily one of the greatest moments ever in a Batman film.
PrinceOfCrime - 8/17/2014, 1:53 PM
Omg this...
MrBlackJack - 8/17/2014, 1:55 PM
You think his cape was long enough?
batz11 - 8/17/2014, 1:55 PM
Still remember my first viewing of this in the theater, couldn't wait for the Joker to appear after seeing him in the opening scene...Heath was unforgettable...
HeroWithAThousandFaces - 8/17/2014, 1:56 PM
That scene is one of the best in comic book movies.
SmokinIndo - 8/17/2014, 1:57 PM
These are not behind the scenes screenshots. These are simple screen grabs from the film. What the hell?
ALegendaryPanda - 8/17/2014, 1:59 PM
Words can't even describe how I felt watching this for the first time in theaters..
McNyagano - 8/17/2014, 2:00 PM
Great scene. Movie was the greatest CBM of all time up until CA: TWS. Dammit, those images make me want to watch it again:)
batz11 - 8/17/2014, 2:03 PM
This was just a screen grab from the movie, weird, I don't remember seeing the camera guys lol...

DrKinsolving - 8/17/2014, 2:04 PM
RIP Heath Ledger, this movie was epic.
WinterSoldier33 - 8/17/2014, 2:05 PM
this was my favorite scene

Incredible scene, find it hard to believe any future cbm will accomplish what this film did, though would be awesome to see. Truly a master class in most regards.
l0rdleg0las - 8/17/2014, 2:07 PM
The great thing about that scene is that you don't need to be a comic fan to see that it is awesome. It transcends the genre. If that scene was just a regular detective movie with Heath's performance it would still be great. It is what I both loved and disliked about Nolan's Batman movies. Great movies and great performances(minus TDKR) but not a very good adaptation of Batman's source material.
batz11 - 8/17/2014, 2:10 PM
So many cool scenes in this movie...

MrPrime - 8/17/2014, 2:19 PM
Cap 2 is a good movie but i feel it gets overrated too much. IMO it doesn't even touch the greatness of TDK and I don't think any CBM will in a while.
MrCBM56 - 8/17/2014, 2:21 PM
Great find @Nail! My favorite scene in the movie.
TheDarkPassenger - 8/17/2014, 2:27 PM
Batman Begins will always be my favorite of the trilogy, but this scene was my favorite out of all the films. Maybe any comic book movie, really nails each character and their history while building upon the suspense of the plot. Perfect acting.
Dingbat - 8/17/2014, 2:31 PM
Great movies transcend their genres. The Dark Knight is not only the greatest comic book movie but a fantastic crime thriller and action movie as well. It's one of the greatest movies of the decade.
CaptainObvious - 8/17/2014, 2:33 PM
This scene almost gave a heart attack in the theater. The intensity was perfect.
Phronesis - 8/17/2014, 2:34 PM
Brilliantly executed.
EhMaybeSays - 8/17/2014, 2:39 PM
One of the greatest interrogation scenes ever.
batz11 - 8/17/2014, 3:10 PM
Everyone is doing top 10 lists, huh?...here's mine:

1) Any Marvel movie
2) Any Marvel movie
3) Any Marvel movie
4) Any Marvel movie
5) Any Marvel movie
6) Any Marvel movie
7) Any Marvel movie
8) Any Marvel movie
9) Any Non-Marvel cbm
10) Any DC movie, etc, etc, etc...

I just watched Batman Begins today, now that's a definitive origin movie, followed by TDK and Rises, great, great trilogy...Think Captain America is going down the path of being the best cbm trilogy for Marvel, maybe even of all cbms, if Cap 3 delivers and tops Cap 2, think we'll have a new champ, imo...
batz11 - 8/17/2014, 3:17 PM
Yeah, I'm definitely a Marvel guy, but give credit when credit is due, see my comment above...I grew up on DC, love the characters too, can't wait for the DCCU to get going...it's strange to me comic book fans can't enjoy both studio's offerings...
TheYoungMan - 8/17/2014, 3:29 PM

I guess you think the second "r" in the word "overrated" is overrated too.

1. The Dark Knight Rises
2. The Dark Knight
3. Batman Begins
4-10. Whatever
Dingbat - 8/17/2014, 3:38 PM

TheYoungMan - 8/17/2014, 3:39 PM

Niklander - 8/17/2014, 3:40 PM
Easily one of the best scenes in The Dark Knight RIP Heath Ledger you will be remembered for all eternity
staypuffed - 8/17/2014, 3:58 PM
Reading the captions on those pictures is nearly as captivating as watching the scene again.
DelTorite - 8/17/2014, 3:59 PM
Best scene in the CBM history (IMO)
Dingbat - 8/17/2014, 3:59 PM
Marvel makes good CBM's but the only one's I'd consider great films in general are Iron Man and Cap 2. I haven't seen Guardians yet.
Pasto - 8/17/2014, 4:00 PM
My hip bone!
Doopie - 8/17/2014, 4:04 PM
Ledger did carry the film imo. It's a good scene but only because of him. I don't like the way Bats is made to look like a dumb brute reliant only on his fists. I know this is meant to show joker as a master-schemer but still
MrDonut - 8/17/2014, 4:05 PM
Begins was better for me, personally, but The Dark Knight nailed it with scenes like this
TheYoungMan - 8/17/2014, 4:13 PM
Today I Learned (courtesy of Doopie): Heath Ledger wrote and directed this scene.
OnePunchBaldy - 8/17/2014, 4:20 PM
since we're doing top 10s
