Pittsburgh Steeler's QB Ben Roethlisberger to Cameo In The Dark Knight Rises

Pittsburgh Steeler's QB Ben Roethlisberger to Cameo In The Dark Knight Rises

Big Ben and 11 of his Steeler teammates are participating in the football scene at Heinz Field this weekend.

In casting call news there was a mention of "special" player(s) in the football scene and that the extras were in for a treat. Well they weren't lying! I'll assume most of the extras will be diehard Steeler fans and they'll get to see their favorite star quarterback suiting up.

Super Bowl champion quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who would probably be under Batman's radar for perving on drunk chicks, will actually be helping the Dark Knight with a key scene. As I mentioned yesterday rumors are spreading that this football scene will have an explosive opening kickoff.

Also on hand will be: Hines Ward (Dancing with the Stars), Willie Colon, Maurkice Pouncey, Mike Wallace, Heath Miller, Aaron Smith, Ryan Clark, Troy Polamalu, James Farrior and Casey Hampton.

Roethlisberger and about a dozen of his veteran teammates will take part in the filming of Dark Knight Rises playing -- what else? -- football players at a familiar venue for them, Heinz Field. The production, which has been filming in Pittsburgh, moves Saturday morning to the Steelers home, where thousands of extras playing fans have been recruited.

The Steelers quarterback has become close with Thomas Tull, the film's executive producer who joined the Steelers ownership group two years ago. Tull helped influence the shooting of the movie in Pittsburgh and he's been trying to get the Steelers involved.

Ben Roethlisberger
"I'm kind of getting everybody together. I heard it's going to be a neat thing at the stadium. I don't think it will be a big part, it's not like we're chasing Batman down or anyting. It's something neat that in 10 years or 20 years we can tell our kids we were in a movie. Thomas does movies big and I'm sure it will be a big-time movie and something fun to be part of."

"From what I've heard, it's going to be like a pre-game, warming-up type thing. I don't know the whole concept. There's a Gotham team, a football game. We'll be wearing uniforms. It will be fun."

Check out the raw footage of Heinz field torn up.

They built a layer of the field on top of the actual field. Kaboom!

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Garly Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

WOW! The full trailer needs to be really impressive to make me watch this. Nolan is looking like he is just walking this franchise through a pile of deep shit. If things don't look cheesy they feel gimmicky.

This is the nail in the coffin for me. TDKR will probably just be on my netflix list.

The cameo will be as big as the mayor of chicago's cameo in TDK. Dont cry kids. It'll still make more than the avengers. Then you can cry.

GothamKnight - 8/5/2011, 1:11 PM
Big Ben's scene is in a bathroom at a Sorority house.
Luigi - 8/5/2011, 1:22 PM
The super bowl is a perfect chance for a terrorist attack. It makes sense, although for all we know the scene could be 5 seconds long.
Greengo - 8/5/2011, 1:24 PM
Dammit!!!! This is f'n bullshit I hate Ben FOR CRYING OUT LOUD WTF IS NOLAN THINKING-> probably that executive producer's idea. SHIT-BALLS. I hope he gets cut in editing or at least don't do a close up.

I trust that Nolan is a good enough director to make this a good movie, because he cast Heath Ledger post-Brokeback Mountain, and that actually turned out well, despite the early horror of Batman fans...

However, Bane's mask just looks... bad :/ I like Tom Hardy, but the Bane mask looks bad. Catwoman reminds me of Aeon Flux or Ultraviolet, even though her costume and goggles would be just fine in Nolan's realistic Batman. The teaser wasn't very good. Not that the movie looked bad, but the teaser was barely worth spending the time to watch. Now we have Roethlisberger in the film... I trust Nolan, because he is a good director, but other than the fact he is directing, this movie concerns me.
GiftedYoungster - 8/5/2011, 1:33 PM
Go Steelers. Hoped they'd be somewhere in this scene. Commenters are just butthurt fans of the teams we beat in the playoffs. ;) jk.
bigdeebow66 - 8/5/2011, 1:37 PM
How did Nolan sell out?
Ranger14 - 8/5/2011, 1:39 PM
Drat...hoping Batman would be kicking some entourage butts and then breaking down a bathroom door to save the damsel in distress.

Dude raped a girl. Straight up. He raped someone. What does he get for that? Well, he got married this year and now he gets a cameo in a major motion picture. Seriously hate that guy.
MovieMann - 8/5/2011, 1:58 PM
Man! the Catwoman pics and this news about an extreme jerk being in TDKR has all proved too much for me! And now I have decided to never watch this movie! And Nolan is the worst director ever! And Bane cant hear anything in his mask which is really bad! Whine Whine! Whine! Whine Whine!
95 - 8/5/2011, 1:59 PM
Cool find @nailbiter111.

We finally got the team mascot now!!!

Nolan is going out big with this film.
jaysin420 - 8/5/2011, 2:00 PM
I hope he rapes Nolan, that will teach him.
pucrepeap - 8/5/2011, 2:00 PM
There was no evidence of rape. The DTF girl didn't even want to press charges becasue she couldn't recall exactly what happened. The DA couldn't find any evidence to take it to court let alone convict someone of rape. Ben is/was a sheisty guy, a womanizer, a partier/drunk, but this case was already shot down.

On the article though, him and his teamates will probably jsut be throwing the ball around and then something happens. Sounds like the movie calls for a football scene, might as well use real football players. No biggie.
REDSTORM - 8/5/2011, 2:03 PM
Whatever... it'll remind me of the time the Packers beat them in XLV :)

Speedy - 8/5/2011, 2:05 PM
@MovieMann YOU think that CHRISTOPHER NOLAN is the worst MOVIE director ever? THERE are several WORSE directors like MICHAEL Bay.
pucrepeap - 8/5/2011, 2:06 PM
I think that was sarcasm
Macksimus - 8/5/2011, 2:07 PM
Yeah, he was never found guilty of rape, but he was involved in 2 seperate cases; that has to make you wonder...

Plaxico shoots himself, and Vick dog fights; both of them get 2 years in prison.

...I guess if you're not white...you're in prison.

**** the Steelers and Rapistberger. Go Cowboys!!!
brazilianFlash - 8/5/2011, 2:09 PM
Man that`s cool actually.
