Do WB Have A "Nolanverse" Set GOTHAM PD TV Series In The Works?

ThinkMcflyThink are on a roll with the Bat-related rumors. This time the site report that Warner Bros. have a tv series in mind which would be set sometime between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Read on for more.

DC and Warner Bros. may be done with the Batman movie universe created by Christopher Nolan, but According to ThinkMcflyThink they are looking to keep it alive on the small screen. Word is the studio is currently looking for a writer to bring them "a Gotham PD inspired television show that would essentially take place between the aftermath of The Dark Knight and before the return of Batman in The Dark Knight Rises." Apparently Jonah Nolan is involved with the project which would offer a glimpse into the efforts of the Gotham City Police Department to keep a handle on crime in Batman's absence. Now this isn't actually the first time a show like this has been rumored, so obviously we'll have to keep that grain of salt at the ready, but what do you guys think of the idea anyway?

That's cool. They can introduce smaller known villians.
Lozzy - 8/7/2013, 5:44 AM
If there is no Batman then what is the point? Might aswell just do a normal police show.
HavocPrime - 8/7/2013, 5:45 AM
Base it on the comic series, let the Nolanverse die already.
CoulsonLives - 8/7/2013, 5:45 AM
No one cares about the policemen that basically have bad decisions...
Alfredo27 - 8/7/2013, 5:49 AM
I think everyone in the world would see this as a cheap Shield copy.
JGAR - 8/7/2013, 5:52 AM
How about a Batman TV Show between Batman Begins AND The Dark Knight?
KrazyForKomix - 8/7/2013, 5:52 AM
Good idea . . . when ABC/Disney/Marvel thought of it.
LEVITIKUZ - 8/7/2013, 5:52 AM
Unless Oldman comes back and plays Jim Gordon,

dean456 - 8/7/2013, 5:54 AM
So a show about the police department that sent all their officers into a sewer and they couldn't get out for months while Batman saved Gotham those guys? no thanks.

At least SHIELD is introducing some superpowered hero types even if we don't know who they are this just seems like a cop show that they think people will tune in because they might mention Batman in passing.
Chewtoy - 8/7/2013, 5:54 AM
If anything too big happens, the Batman is a dick for retiring and not lifting a finger to help. If nothing that big happens, then what's the point of it being a comic book cop show?

SHIELD still works because you only would call in the Avengers for a huge, non-investigation kind of threat. Batman is supposed to fight crime on a more personal level. It's bad enough he went to mope in retirement over a girl, but its unforgivable if you introduce his rogues gallery and he never comes out of his mansion to deal with them.
Shadowelfz - 8/7/2013, 5:54 AM
Yeah... no.
TelaVizion - 8/7/2013, 5:54 AM
I don't believe this
LEVITIKUZ - 8/7/2013, 6:00 AM
NOLANVERSE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
silverdog - 8/7/2013, 6:01 AM
good.. maybe this time the dumbest cops in the nolanverse can get trapped for months in a parking lot..
ndwwrestler2 - 8/7/2013, 6:04 AM
A Super Secret government agency dealing with Super Powered individuals sounds far more interesting than the Gotham Police without Batman
CarlXVIGarfield - 8/7/2013, 6:05 AM
I'm normally all Make Mine Marvel, but this already sounds more interesting than the SHIELD show.

Gotham PD could be a gritty, violent police show with minor villains and hints at the super(anti)heroics.

Shield so far looks like the normal teen aimed superhero less superhero world, like Mutant X, Arrow, Smallville.

Really hope I'm wrong tho.
sintzu - 8/7/2013, 6:08 AM
this could be good but why not do a full batman show with stories based on the comics ?
ekrolo2 - 8/7/2013, 6:11 AM

Because they have a moving of him coming out, duh.
CherryBomb - 8/7/2013, 6:13 AM
I think I'd prefer to see a show about a detective Barbara Gordon or something.
CherryBomb - 8/7/2013, 6:15 AM
I seriously hope this isn't on the CW.
They can't do Batman related content justice or even Wonder Woman content.
They need a network that can be more gritty and with higher budgets like FX.
thespiderkat - 8/7/2013, 6:18 AM
set in the 8 years when there wasn't any batman?.. so its basically just another cop show (cause we dont have enough already) with "Gotham" in the title? no thanks, when I want to watch cop shows the CW is the last place I want to go to.

but seems like the kind of stupid thing warner and DC would do...
Chewtoy - 8/7/2013, 6:19 AM
"Shield so far looks like the normal teen aimed superhero less superhero world, like Mutant X, Arrow, Smallville."

I've somehow missed all of the shirtless shots of hottie Clark Gregg when it comes to SHIELD promos. Teens swoon over Clark Gregg.

I do have to laugh... Every single show Joss Whedon has ever done had super-powered people in it. But somehow the one set in the Marvel Universe will be the exception?
CherryBomb - 8/7/2013, 6:25 AM

Oooo I wanna see a Barbara & Dick show.
Kinda like Fringe. Bruce could be an older wiser mentor-type like Walter.

Baf - 8/7/2013, 6:28 AM
SHIELD has its work cut out for it. this is Marvel's first whack at T.V. and ABC/Disney has been known for airing some pretty sketchy shows. most of its popular network programming is geared toward housewives/family entertainment. Nothing cutting edge unless you count Modern Family, Desperate Housewives, and McDreamy cutting edge. Basically a Men In Black with super-peeps. I predict that Marvel TV will = DC movies in success and start the severe watering down of its characters.

Gotham, on the other hand at least has the potential to be a gritty cop show with plenty of corruption and organized crime. A show where the lines are unclear who the good guys are and the super/villains can take center stage.
StrangeBlackPantherDoctor - 8/7/2013, 6:31 AM
Why would they do this if Batman is going to be in a new universe in 2015,
TheRebellion - 8/7/2013, 6:31 AM
Sounds super dupa lame. I don't giva a dang about a police show without Batman
SaxoWolf - 8/7/2013, 6:34 AM
a show about Gotham City wihout Batman? no thanks
spidey1994 - 8/7/2013, 6:34 AM
This sounds really [frick]ing lame.
superotherside - 8/7/2013, 6:36 AM
Ummmm... no. Next. Shield will be more interesting. If for no other reason than it has Joss Whedon behind it.
charlie2094 - 8/7/2013, 6:36 AM
Super excited for SHIELD, but this doesn't sound great, but could be. These would literally just be regular cops, and would be setting it in Gotham for the sake of it. Saying that, they could maybe use smaller characters like Vsasz as potential villains?

Could be interesting, but if its purely about the PD then not that interested. SHIELD being set at the same time as the films, allowing for same characters, AIM and the such is what makes that work.

Could be an interesting cop show, can have the mob and small villains, just seems like an odd choice. Unless of course, there's more to it than this, which there surely is.
Brainiac13 - 8/7/2013, 6:37 AM
I would love to see this!

Gotham Central comic series was fantastic and worked perfectly without bats.

It was Gotham through the eyes of the cops and how they viewed the vigilante Batman.

This was written by Ed Brubaker & Greg Rucka.

If anyone thinks this is dumb......they should check out the comic series or just google it!
Brainiac13 - 8/7/2013, 6:38 AM
At least the idea is from the source material!
Brainiac13 - 8/7/2013, 6:39 AM
This was one of my best series I've read!
MatchesMalone1989 - 8/7/2013, 6:42 AM
If its like Gotham Central then this would be interesting. But If its the Nolan verse forget about it!
fettastic - 8/7/2013, 6:46 AM
It's going to suffer the same issue as Birds of Prey, a Batman show without Batman in it.
Darth258 - 8/7/2013, 6:50 AM
I demand a Police Academy remake!
marvel72 - 8/7/2013, 6:52 AM
will this be set entirely in the gotham city sewer.
126thst - 8/7/2013, 6:53 AM
Gotham S.H.I.E.L.D.

How original
IamBatman - 8/7/2013, 7:01 AM
