Screencaps From The GOTHAM Pilot - Is This Our First Look At 'The Joker'?

Bleeding Cool have managed to get a look at the pilot episode of Fox's Batman prequel series, and they've provided a few screencaps -- one of which gives us a glimpse at a young stand-up comedian who may just be our future clown prince of crime..

The site don't get too SPOILERY; instead giving us a broad outline of what to expect from the show. They, like many other early reviewers, are very postive, calling Gotham "better than Flash. And Constantine. And Arrow. And Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s the best TV pilot based on an English language comic book I’ve seen." High praise indeed. You can click the link at the bottom of the page for their full report, but below we have some of their screencaps. There's young Selina Kyle, Gotham PD precinct, Edward Nigma (who's a police pathologist here), Renee Montoya, and a stand-up comedian from Fish Mooney's club. Could this be our first look at the Joker to be? Or just something to throw us off the scent?

The series follows one cop, destined for greatness, as he navigates a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the rise of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes. The entirely new, untold chapter comes from executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”) and stars Ben McKenzie (“Southland,” “The O.C.”), Donal Logue (“Vikings,” “Sons of Anarchy”) and Jada Pinkett Smith (“Hawthorne,” “Collateral”).

More at the link below. Gotham kicks off Monday, Sept. 22.

Hmmm. Could be.
GliderMan - 7/11/2014, 8:52 AM
[frick] this waste of a show. What a god damned waste.
JordanKing - 7/11/2014, 8:52 AM
A stand-up comedian? I guess subtly really is thrown out the window.

Will this do better than Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
MrReese - 7/11/2014, 8:54 AM
Yeah I heard the pilot is full of shit like this.As if we didn't already know it was a show based on Batman.I'll give the pilot a chance though.
charlie2094 - 7/11/2014, 8:54 AM
Could be, had assumed they'd hold off on Joker for a while though.
BoneSawIsReady - 7/11/2014, 8:56 AM
I hope they don't spoil the Joker by spreading him over the entire length of this series. If he ever does show up I hope his origin is a complete mystery - and it will always stay that way. Origins for heroes is cool, but a villain like the Joker doesn't need that kind of treatment. When he appears, he should be just the Joker from the get go.

I will watch this series.

can't wait to see what this is like. gotham city, ftw

batman1216 - 7/11/2014, 9:00 AM
He was a stand up comedian in "The Killing Joke" by Alan Moore, which is overwhelmingly considered the greatest Joker story ever told. You dumb [frick]s that are criticizing this show before even seeing it yet should really read that book.
yossarian - 7/11/2014, 9:03 AM
Maybe it's Robin.

I'm looking forward to this. I hope it does really well and is truly great to prove some of you crackheads wrong.

Hello, LNI
Jollem - 7/11/2014, 9:08 AM
the actual city itself looks really good. also can't wait to see gotham in dawn of justice being designed by the guy who worked on dark city
Nubase - 7/11/2014, 9:10 AM
the critics who saw the pilot said that this show will be epic, they say the feel of the show is like watching a movie, let the haters hate, the marvel fans have their peggy show to come lol

MrBlackJack - 7/11/2014, 9:10 AM
At least Gotham actually looks like Gotham.
AntMan - 7/11/2014, 9:13 AM
You can bring up The Killing Joke all you want, but the fact of the matter is those FLASHBACKS of the unnamed man that became Joker took place once Bruce was already Batman, not while Bruce Wayne was a child.
Ramiel - 7/11/2014, 9:13 AM
While this show may be great, I hate that they're going to explore Joker's origin.
MrCBM56 - 7/11/2014, 9:17 AM
What @BatManiac said.
Abary - 7/11/2014, 9:17 AM

He looks like Gordon to me. But that doesn't surprise me. I thought I saw McNy on CNN today. But I realized it was probably Don Lemon or President Obama.

I'm too racist to differentiate between people of the same ethnicity is what I'm trying to say.
Prime - 7/11/2014, 9:24 AM
This has the Smallville feel...all of Batman's villains will show up before Bruce is old enough to actually go around the world and train. Funny since he is kinda responsible for the creation of some of his villains.
TheDarkKryptonian - 7/11/2014, 9:24 AM
If they do the Joker's origin, it should purposefully ambiguous. Introduce multiple characters that reference the Joker's origins, but never make one the specific version.
Nomis - 7/11/2014, 9:25 AM
I'm Diggin' IT!!!!

And for those who don't know about the connection between the Joker and a stand-up comedian then I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to you.
AntMan - 7/11/2014, 9:26 AM
"If they do the Joker's origin, it should purposefully ambiguous. Introduce multiple characters that reference the Joker's origins, but never make one the specific version."

NovaCorpsFan - 7/11/2014, 9:26 AM

I'm gonna print that off and stick it to my door.
Klone - 7/11/2014, 9:27 AM
To be fair, the city itself does feel like Gotham.
Klone - 7/11/2014, 9:28 AM

DC and Marvel hate subtly.
thatcoldblackcloud - 7/11/2014, 9:30 AM
Soooo... all of batman's villains are going to be about 20 years older than him??? I don't know why this bothers me soooo effin much
McGee - 7/11/2014, 9:32 AM

Nomis finally said "F*ck it, you people are too stupid for me to waste my time educating. My wise memory bank of comic book lore would be wasted on you."
Nivekian - 7/11/2014, 9:36 AM
^^^ I love the idea of multiple people being introduced with different elements of different Joker origins. This guy could turn into the Joker, or that other guy. One thing, I don't want to see the Joker till we see Batman. And I know if they don't time jump in the next season, they will without a doubt screw up the Joker.
pesmerga44 - 7/11/2014, 9:41 AM
How about they never use the Joker because the Joker is Joker because of Batman. Pretty much Joker's entire reason for living is to be Batman's nemesis that is what he lives for. I am waiting for every time Bruce Wayne is shown there will probably be a bat or some heavy imaging of a bat because it might be to subtle for some people to realize he will become Batman.
Nomis - 7/11/2014, 9:47 AM
@ McGee - Lol! I don't think I was that harsh, but essentially you're right on what I was conveying.
JatevinM - 7/11/2014, 9:48 AM
So wait you mean to tell me its said no where not even hinted at that this guy is the joker.....and all of a sudden people jump to conclusions?
