The PR at WB has been shit since Snyder left. The trades told us he was gone before and after JL but Ben should've announced it then.

One lesson that we all take from this is...

90% of the time the studios and actors will lie and 90% of the time the Trades are correct.

I like him as Batman...but the character is bigger than any actor..

I like what WB were going for with a Batman gone rouge, but him killing was too far. Superman should have been his point of no return. If he was about to make his first kill be Superman it could have worked, with an establishment of a back story that made him feel weak.

Instead, due to his way of acting in the movie, he would have Kryptonite on this bullets and shot him

This whole skit felt so awkward it was painful. It felt so weird and unceremonious when everyone was clapping as the cowl got raised.

I truly believe this is for the best - for Affleck, for the franchise, and the property in general.

Also thank goodness this is finally over. I do feel for everyone who liked him in the role and wanted more of it. But come on, we've been talking about his possible/likely departure since, what, months before JL was released?!

@Kyos - An announced complete reboot of the DCEU is for the best.

I believe him. I think he just for fed up with the way that Batman was being handled by WB and decided to hand it over so he could move on to other things. WB and Zack deciding to start the new DCEU with an older Batman was always a bad idea in my opinion. I am a bit disappointed that Ben won’t get a solo Batman movie because I think with the right script he could’ve been the definitive live action Bruce Wayne / Batman. I do trust Matt Reeves to give us a good Batman movie though. It will be interesting to see who they cast now though.

Why is this so hard to grasp? Affleck starred & cameo'd as Batman in three critical failures & one financial disappointment on a team-up film that should have done Avengers numbers. His personal life is in shambles (or was). He literally has no personal creative spark for this role. He's over it. We've known this. And I don't blame him. There's no mystery here, folks.

Alternate universe: BvS is a creative/critical triumph matching its huge box office numbers, Suicide Squad builds positively on the universe, and Justice League hits it out of the park on all fronts. You better believe had that been the road, Affleck would be in post-production on The Batman right now--regardless of this personal struggles.
