New TDKR Bonus Features Clip Reveals Tom Hardy's Preparation To Play Bane

A new clip from the bonus features for next month's home video release for The Dark Knight Rises has been released, and it goes over Tom Hardy's weight gain for the role of Bane and more. Hit the jump to check it out.

It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

The Dark Knight Rises arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD December 4th.

Didn't realize this was a bonus feature. Hopefully I can avoid these until the film is released.

Tom Hardy was fun to watch as Bane.
TheAmazingSpiderMan47 - 11/21/2012, 2:11 PM

I thought Hardy was amazing as Bane, but I would honestly prefer to see Hathaway or Caine get Oscar recognition.

QuanZen - 11/21/2012, 2:16 PM
too bad he was only a puppet in the movie...
StormLoganSummers - 11/21/2012, 2:17 PM
Better than Heath.
ABLEE337 - 11/21/2012, 2:19 PM
Hathaway will get an Oscar nomination, but for Les Miserables most likely.
BruceWayneNewton - 11/21/2012, 2:22 PM
He was great in this movie but in no way does he deserve an oscar.

Heath Ledger is still the best villain in CBM history.
Tony93 - 11/21/2012, 2:23 PM
He was increasingly demoted to a puppet after so much anticipation, and rising action. It felt anticlimactic.. Now so was loki in the avengers but that was less tolerable with the direction the avengers took.
Tony93 - 11/21/2012, 2:24 PM
He was good.. But certainly not Oscar worthy
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 11/21/2012, 2:25 PM
Darth Vader is the Emperor's puppet. Does that make him any less badass?
SageMode - 11/21/2012, 2:27 PM

Loki wasnt acting under Thanos' orders. Loki made a bargain with The Other and Thanos where Loki agreed to retrieve the Tessaract/Cosmic Cube and bring it to them in exchange of using the Chitari army for helping him conquer the planet Earth. Whereas "Bane" turned out to be an henchman underboss of sorts for the League of Shadow headed by Talia Al Ghul.

Nice try.
silverdog - 11/21/2012, 2:27 PM
if they wanted to give an oscar to a glorified henchman impervious to pain, with a ham-fisted evil plan involving a nuclear bomb that at he end is nothing but the puppet of the hot girl with daddy issues looking for revenge... they should have given it to Robert Carlyle when he played the same character (minus the cheesy outfit and cartoony voice) in the world is not enough.

sorry, but "darth connery" wasnt as good as some nolanites want to convince the world it was.... also, after leaving batman in an prison with an open exit in the same cell as the guy that could cure him with some magic backrub, he also deserves the award for the dumbest comic book villain ever
ComicBookSon - 11/21/2012, 2:31 PM
LMAO yup just like Loki controlling Hawk-eye over Nick Fury.
ComicBookSon - 11/21/2012, 2:34 PM
That is what makes the character unique. Bane will be remembered, no one gives a shit about Loki.
FilmsFan - 11/21/2012, 2:35 PM
His performance will never ever be recognized!

As per "standards"; his face was covered; so no praise for him!
Same shit for Andy Serkis for Golloum & apes performance!

His performance was just about as great as Heath's!

Tom is Alive & his face was covered; oh & the voice was mumbled!

For me he was as fun to watch as Heath!
maybe 1% less!

His effort & dedication was to be applauded!

GODDAMN, go out and get laid all of you. Pay a hooker, beg a tranny... whatever just do it. Arguing over a goddamn movie that's over. At this point, you little nerdy bitches are just jerking each other off.

marvel72 - 11/21/2012, 2:38 PM

bane had a gang of followers as well, loki needed an army because thor defeated him on his own & this time he was taking the avengers(five extra heroes)

-bane(& followers) vs batman(selina kyle & gotham police department)

-loki(& army) vs thor,hulk,captain america,iron man,hawkeye,black widow & agents of s.h.i.e.l.d.

loki killed 80 people as well hence the adopted line from thor.
ComicBookSon - 11/21/2012, 2:47 PM
Good. Fanboys take their comics way too seriously. You change one thing and they flip the [frick] out. I happen to like artistic licence with the characters.
ComicBookSon - 11/21/2012, 2:49 PM
Many of you can't so deal with it.
ComicBookSon - 11/21/2012, 2:50 PM
not Everything. No Venom. That's all I see.
brokenexcitement - 11/21/2012, 2:50 PM
Love how Levit's third point was a push for both Bane and Loki LOL
ComicBookSon - 11/21/2012, 2:51 PM
And although he had no venom, he was still inhaling something that made him tougher and stronger.
ComicBookSon - 11/21/2012, 2:52 PM
I do agree that his death sucked though.

Bandido - 11/21/2012, 2:55 PM
As much as I enjoyed Loki as a villain I do agree bane was WAY more memorable
I think hardy should be given more credit for having to rely on just his eyes to demonstrate his emotions because that must be pretty [frick]ing difficult to do...especially when most of ur face is covered
thewonderer - 11/21/2012, 2:57 PM
Apparently even working side by side someone is considered being a puppet.

If Banes a puppet to Talia, then Bruce is a puppet to Alfred.

No, Bane worked WITH Talia people. Loki worked UNDER Thanos and was his little bitch.

Call Banes death anticlimactic if you want, but the fact that he was going to shoot Bruce in the face rather then listen to Talia proves he worked WITH HER not under her
thewonderer - 11/21/2012, 2:58 PM
And Hardy DOES deserve an oscar.

The man acted with his eyes alone, which is something I don't believe has ever been done before to this degree of film time
pud333 - 11/21/2012, 3:03 PM
Ledger gets way too much credit for his Joker. It was great, but I think his death colored people's perceptions. I think if he lived, he would not have gotten as much praise.

Also, to compare Hardy's Bane to Ledger's Joker is like comparing apples to oranges. The two villains are both so different. To me, I look at how effective a performance it was. I loved Bane. And this is a character I hated in the past. Watching TDKR I was pretty concinced by Hardy's portrayal. The first fight where he destroys Batman was so scary. He was a monster. At no point was I afraid of Joker ever beating Batman.
pud333 - 11/21/2012, 3:04 PM
I realize at the end I just compared the two. Lol. Whatever
BlueDemon - 11/21/2012, 3:11 PM
Tom hardy has a menacing voice I don't know why he decided to use this one LOL STill makes me laugh
thewonderer - 11/21/2012, 3:12 PM

Marion Cotillard played Talia fine. Her death scene WAS THE ONLY moment of I guess "bad acting". Please explain to me what else Cotillard did wrong to be considered horrible?

Bane was NOT being used for Talias master plan. Bane treasures innocence. I personally got no romantic implication from it. Being stuck in a hell hole, he found interest in the one sign of innocence, a kid Talia.

He worked and trained with Talia because she was all he knew of anything beyond the life of prison. Waging war on Gotham wasn't just for Talia, it was his way of showcasing his power and making up for the years of being trapped in a prison
Funsize - 11/21/2012, 3:12 PM
Awesome memorable villain but I think I'll need to put the subtitles on when I buy the movie.
MisterJay - 11/21/2012, 3:28 PM
he was ok... but this movie was mediocre... oscar to greatest cast recicling....

Bane>Loki and I can [frick]ing prove that:

1. Bane was in a fight, Loki used his army.
Bane had lots of henchmen.

2. All Loki did was kill Coulson. While I kiss Coulson, Bane broke Batmans back and separated Gotham from the world.
Loki killed 80 people in 2 days.

3. Bane is Talias puppet? While Loki was Thanos puppet.
Loki and Thanos were partners, unlike Bane and Talia.

FrozenJoy - 11/21/2012, 3:31 PM
Bane was JUST a henchman. Loki was a god.
MrReese - 11/21/2012, 3:33 PM
