Daniel Sunjata's character hasn't been of much interest to too many people so I thought it was about time someone brought him into the spotlight. Not very many people know who he is playng. His character's name hasn't been announced so it's about time to start speculating. All we have seen of him is a couple of set videos of him and John Blake (JGL) walking down back streets writing stuff on walls.

When Sunjata was first announced as being cast this is what was said about his character: "Sunjata is in talks to play 'a courageous special forces operative'," and "an ‘important character to the story'." So who is this mysterious character? I believe that I have come up with the answer.

As most of us have realized Mr. Nolan will be using key points from the 'No Man's Land' series, but i believe he will be incorporating another . . . 'Knightfall'. We have Bane so it's safe to assume that Nolan wouldn't use him if he wasn't going to use Bane's most famous story arc. Earlier, I believe, Batman-News confirmed that Batman will have his back broken at some point during the movie. This means that Batman will be out of commission for some time.

Now in the teaser trailer, Gordon is talking to someone and he says, "The Batman has to come back." What if he is talking to Sunjata and Blake (JGL)? What if they decide to take action into their own hands and Daniel dons the cape and cowl? Could Sunjata be playing the one and only Jean Paul Valley? Of course this is mere specualtion, but there is some evidence here that is logical to assume.

I just wanted to share my thoughts on a character that is still in the dark as of now. One more thing, doesn't Daniel kinda look like a Jean Paul? Thanks for reading and please comment and tell me what you think.

*facepalm*

Gordon is talking to Bruce in a black ski mask. We saw him on set in London.

Batman's in exile after TDK, Bane's destruction is a realization that he must come back.

The Dark Knight Rises from hiding.

Sunjata and Blake are cops. After the Earthquake[?], Bane takes over Gotham and everyone evacuates.

The GPD are disbanded, they have no authority, and so Gordon and those you stayed behind band together.

To take on Bane. Reclaim their city.

I think that he's just a cop. I remember seeing Josh Stewart in one of the set pics as a henchman of Banes. I wonder who Tom Conti is playing...

There is no earthquake. There won't be. I was an extra on the set and my friend was a merc. There is no earthquake machine, and there is no natural disaster in this movie

He's not Jean Paul...there's just not enough time in the movie to introduce another major character and explain Azrael and the System.

To defend myself:

1. First off, the people that edit trailers together can easily splice two audio clips of Gordon and Bruce together. If you remember in The Dark Knight triler Gordon says, "Things will get ugly," then Batman says, "I'm counting on it." as we all know those two clips were not even in the same scene and at completely different points in the movie.

2. In the comics Jean Paul is a security cop, so that coulds easily be changed to just a cop.

3. The scene of the masked guy leaping out of a hospitol window is pretty easy to figure out that it is Bruce visiting Gordon, but what if that wasn't all to the scene, what if during that scene Bruce says that he will never be Batman again, so then Gordon tells JGL and Sunjata to become Batman.

There.

Like I said this is just plausible speculation.

Azrael, this is not a bad theory, but with the very little bit of filming we have scene and little info that Nolan has let out, we can only speculate at this point. As for someone who thinks this theory is interesting I will help out and add that in the trailer at the end when Batman is limping back and there is a shooter in the back, maybe JGL is the shooter and Sunjata is in the outfit. But like I said I am just speculating

good theory, except Gordon is talking to Bruce in the trailer, you can tell because he's doing his Batman voice (thankfully the one from Begins, not the OTT one from TDK!)

Not a very good synopsis. He isn't Azrael, Gordon is talking to Bruce. I would however love to see an Azrael character with a different back story, perhaps a product of the League of Shadows, but there wouldn't be enough time in the movie.
