RUMOR: Heath Ledger to Cameo in The Dark Knight Rises?

RUMOR: Heath Ledger to Cameo in The Dark Knight Rises?

Could we be seeing Heath Ledger as The Joker one more time in The Dark Knight Rises? According to Showbizspy it is very possible.

We are all familiar with Heath Ledger's brilliant performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight. Some fans have even stated they would rather not see The Joker on screen again (with another actor) due to Ledgers untimely death from an accidental overdose.

Now The Showbizspy is reporting that "sources" are saying Christopher Nolan is considering using previously unseen footage from Ledgers The Dark Knight Joker performance in the upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises.

"The idea is to use these fragments of cut scenes and use CGI to have The Joker appear one last time,” reveals a movie insider.

“Chris wants some continuity between movies and for the franchise to pay tribute to Heath and his portrayal of the Joker.

“It would only be a fleeting moment in the movie and would only be included with the full consent of Heath’s family.”

Hawksblueyes: I'm not sure what to make of this news. I am usually not big on posting news citing "sources" but this one was too interesting an idea not to fill you in on..

U had me @ unused footage!!!!!
LucasMend - 11/30/2010, 6:43 AM
Wow, that would be amazing if done right. Would be good to have a "cameo" of Heath on that, not only for continuity but for a tribute to him.
Nice find @Hawks!

30 second ARKHAM in a cell bit!

Hawks @

Epic find!
jbak368 - 11/30/2010, 6:53 AM
It would be interesting, but I don't believe it.
jbak368 - 11/30/2010, 6:53 AM
*til Nolan says otherwise.
LEEE777 - 11/30/2010, 6:53 AM
I reckon its CGI tho, but heck they used some of that in TDK and I didn't see it, did anyone?
SHHH - 11/30/2010, 7:00 AM
Please Do it... Greatest Idea ever...
Superheromoviefan - 11/30/2010, 7:02 AM
I want to see the Joker again, but without Ledger I don't feel the same.
JaySchluffy - 11/30/2010, 7:05 AM
Aaaaaand this would explain the lacking level of Deleted scenes in the DVD/Blu-Ray...
AlexDeLarge87 - 11/30/2010, 7:07 AM
H*ll yeah!:D
Hawksblueyes - 11/30/2010, 7:11 AM
Thanks LEEE.

I think if Nolan does decide to do this and the family gives it's consent that it will be done in a very classy manner and in good taste. Knowing Nolan, if he can't find a way to do it with class, he probably won't do it at all.
ElBicho - 11/30/2010, 7:14 AM
Just re-cast the Joker already.

He died and it was tragic, but come on people.

The Joker has been played by so many actors, give someone else a try. If Bale died, would they not re-cast someone else as Batman?
rodsvilaca - 11/30/2010, 7:26 AM
It is ALL part of the plan:

SKGannbit - 11/30/2010, 7:30 AM
excellent! fingers crossed.
SpideyQuad - 11/30/2010, 7:31 AM

Who cares! Bring on a sexy Cat-Woman, and stay away from stupid characters. Riddler, Mr Freeze, Penquin and give us a threat we can take serious again.
SHHH - 11/30/2010, 7:33 AM
Nolan Will Do it Good Taste and Respect..
BruceWayneNewton - 11/30/2010, 7:35 AM
Give Joker a cameo with or without Heath. Tributes are nice and if they can do it with scenes from TDK and some CGI, I am all for it but I think the character should be in it either way. Now to what really matters at the current moment... ROUTH OR BUST!!!
Jake - 11/30/2010, 7:39 AM
I remember reading that Nolan removed some scenes and footage from TDK specifically for this purpose. I also remember reading that at the time (pre-release of TDK) Ledgers family already gave Nolan the go-ahead to use the scenes and footage in the next film. I'm trying to find the article in my archives, and if I do I'll post it.

I'd love to see some more of Health as the Joker! Here are my thoughts (as if they mattered) on what I want to see. Maybe a scene in the beginning of the movie with him getting admitted to Arkham and being transported to the maximum security wing by a handful of doctors including a young blond official looking woman holding a file on Joker wearing a Dr. Quinzel name badge. Maybe he winks at her and then asks her if she wants to know how he got his scars. And then maybe at the very and of the movie we get another scene at Arkham. Its the middle of the night and we see the same Dr. Quinzel sneaking back into the the maximum security wing. She starts humming, walks (maybe the occasional schoolgirl skip thrown in) down the corridor. As she walks we only see her from the small of the back down. Maybe we even see a shadowy figure in another cell flipping a coin in the air as she makes her way to the Joker. When she reaches his cell she knocks lightly on the door and then screams "MR. J!!!!" as the camera pans out we see the Jokers eyes open and his scarred smile flicker in the moonlight. We then hear his maniacal laugh echo Arkham as they pan farther and we see Dr. Quinzel now in pigtails and HARLEY gratuitously scribbled over her name badge. END MOVIE.

Yeah, I agree with LEEE777. Arkham Asylum, as Batman approaches the cell, through the shadows a familiar scarred face appears spontaneously: "Why so SERIOUS?!?" You know, just a nod. And then, an exchange of looks, two enemies stare each other down for a moment. Batman keeps on going. But then again, I don't want that, I'd like to be surprised.

What Rickly Said...
RoscoeFolgers - 11/30/2010, 7:46 AM
This is stupid and false.
whoa123 - 11/30/2010, 7:46 AM
Heath Ledger is the sh*t!!!Please Nolan make this happen!!!

Oh and check out my Superman/Doomsday fan poster
BIGBMH - 11/30/2010, 7:48 AM
I certainly hope so. If it makes sense to the story and doesn't feel random, it could be very cool.
By the way Hawks, you left the K out of Knight every time in this article. Just thought you might want to correct that.
coderaven - 11/30/2010, 7:48 AM
All you need is a scene with a young female therapist walking out of a room, with strange hearing ledger in the background speaking. the dr claims that joker is the real victim and they can't speak with him at the moment as she is having break thru and she returns to the room closign the door.

everyone would get to see quinn for a few secs, for next film or towards this films end.
nuck82 - 11/30/2010, 7:54 AM
i like the idea alot, i would love to see ledger in it. but i hope they have to get the ok from his family to do this, and i hope its done right.
Hawksblueyes - 11/30/2010, 7:54 AM
Thanks BIGBMH: I missed that. It's corrected now.
StSharp - 11/30/2010, 7:56 AM
I SAY have BATMAN walk into Arkham in search for some bad guy and he walks past the JOKER'S cell!

And all you see is JOKER through the little window on the door and he is engulfed in shadow so you dont see his face much!

AND THEN have HEATH'S JOKER laugh played!

That would be EPIC!

:D!!! R.I.P. Heath :)
SFCamerica - 11/30/2010, 7:58 AM
Just recast him already. Yes, he was great, but he is now dead. Why should we as fans be cheated out of one of the greatest villains of all time because the last actor was a drug addict. Yes, I said it, DRUG ADDICT. No one can ever play the joker again cause he couldn't kick that shit? Doesn't seem right to me, I agree with a previous post, if Bale died they would certainly recast him.
StSharp - 11/30/2010, 7:58 AM
@MrDCUniverse GREAT IDEA! :D
thedon786 - 11/30/2010, 8:00 AM
SFCamerica - 11/30/2010, 8:00 AM
@ Jake and others, great ideas!! If they do anything like your ideas, I'll be satisfied.
theFACE - 11/30/2010, 8:03 AM
i would like to see them do that, i think it would be a nice gesture.
AlexDeLarge87 - 11/30/2010, 8:03 AM
Tom Hardy would be great as The Joker!:) But it would be cool to see Heath return from the grave!:D
Ryden - 11/30/2010, 8:05 AM
Sounds great, they're actually using footage of him...not some crappy CGI Joker or something, so yeah I'm all for it!
blankofthedead - 11/30/2010, 8:06 AM
i REALLY hope this is true.. its almost disrepectful not to mention him in a 3rd movie becuase his performance cnt jsut be kicked under the carpet.. he's earned his spot in this franchise and should be alluded to at least.
superotherside - 11/30/2010, 8:10 AM
that would be awesome, can't u just see him in his cell saying as batman passes:
"You've changed things for ever... there's no going back you see to them you're just a freak... like me."

the joker (heath ledger)
Cranburn - 11/30/2010, 8:11 AM
If this is true and think it would be amazing... not just for Ledger, but to show just how clever the Nolan bros and Goyer are. Using unseen footage from TDK and adding it to the sequel would be epic!

Please let this be true.
Angelus - 11/30/2010, 8:12 AM
No no no no no no no no and no! This wont happen and shouldnt happen and is just a dumb rumour.

blankofthedead - 11/30/2010, 8:14 AM
the next step is to have christian bale do a cameo.. and ONLY a cameo.. am I alone on thinking he's perfect for the fighter because his and mark are the two most overrated actors in hollywood? Doesn't hurt my cause knowing the two are complete assholes.
