RUMOR: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Playing Robin in The Dark Knight Rises?

RUMOR: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Playing Robin in The Dark Knight Rises?

A reliable messenger, Rayne, provides secondhand information about the actor, who as of right now is just playing Gotham city cop, John Blake.

Over on SHH a thread was made about a rumor by the user Rayne. Now I know that user and some of the info I used on my Batman Pittsburgh coverage came from him, so in my book he is good stuff. He at no point in the coverage ever said anything as wild as what he did last night.

He hasn't made a comment of any kind since Batman left Pittsburgh, but that all changed when he created a thread so that he could post the info that you see below. SHH shutdown this thread immediately, I'm not sure why.

Like always take this with a grain of salt, and just remember I trust Rayne, but it doesn't mean I believe the source that he got the info from. Enjoy!

Hi all. PLEASE take this as rumor. I'm simply going to relay the story as it was told to me.

So I started a new job in downtown Pittsburgh on Monday near Smithfield St. For those that know Pittsburgh, they filmed here and on Cherry Way, which I have a view of from my office window. At the corner of Smithfield & the Blvd of the Allies, there is a small comic shop.

I went in for the first time yesterday and started talking to the guy who runs it, and he was telling me about some of the crew who came into the shop. This is what he told me:

He said that a weapons prop crew member was in the shop talking about the filming, and said that ROBIN WAS BEING INTRODUCED IN THIS FILM.

I repeat, he said that ROBIN WAS BEING INTRODUCED IN THIS FILM.

I asked him who he said would be playing him, and he said, "The dark-haired guy from 3rd Rock From the Sun."

That, of course, is Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

I pressed him for more details and he said that Bruce Wayne will "retire" as Batman, and that JGL will take up his cause as Robin. He did not say if this was mid-film (meaning Batman would return, making sense so far from what we know) or if this is how the film would end.

Now, this comic shop manager didn't seem to know much about the filming...he didn't even know who JGL was. I asked him if Robin would be in full costume, and he said that he would be in full costume "in the next film". We know that Nolan doing another Bat-film is pretty much not going to happen. So PLEASE take this with a grain of salt, as he could've easily been confused or mislead (perhaps intentionally). Don't shoot the messenger.

That all being said, this would be fairly Nolan-esque; mislead us all about JGL's non-DC character, all the while revamping Robin's origin as a police officer turned vigilante sidekick. Perhaps his parents are killed at the Gotham Rogues game? And this could be why he's seemingly assisting Batman in scenes so far? And perhaps all of the Bane/Catwoman/Batwing leaks are to conceal bigger turns in the story, namely Talia & Ra's & Robin?

Again, don't shoot the messenger, but I thought this was info worth sharing!

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Garly Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

I don't believe this either. It does sound cool of it was true. Maybe Nolan would make a Robin trilogy.

The perfect Joker for Nolanverse Batfilm is Jason Todd.IMO. Actually i want to see Joker in Ledger style beat Robin with a crowbar as in the comics and Batman: Under the Red Hood. That wpuld be epic!

I think it'd be a good ending to the film, but I don't think this news from the comic shop guy is true (he says a lot of weird things to make you not believe it).

The (bs) I sense is batman. He gets very little sleep, very little help and is aging and beat down. I know people think Robin is not cool but the (Boy Wonder) is to tightly bonded to Batman's Mythos to be disregarded. They say he will be introduced in this movie then that I welcome because it allows the moviegoers to think out how this would play out after the closing scene. Face it to take down Bane, Talia, the league of shadows and probably Ras and who ever else is not credited but could pop up Batman is going to need help (physically) from multiple sources. But Bale said he would nit play in any movie with Robin in it, yet in the interview he states that if he did not do this third movie he would be sued and pennie less by Warner Brothers. He' s an actor, who has little power an is under a contract by the biggest movie company in the world. May be the real challenge is making Robin cool. I'm there

doubt it but still good find @nailbiter111 :)

I hate how this site will report ANYTHING no matter how unreliable the source or how ludicrous the story itself is. "GRAIN OF SALT" should be attached to the header of this site. Still a great site though where I get all my CBM news but sometimes it's hard not to roll my eyes a few times a day.
NeoBaggins - 9/2/2011, 6:11 AM
Please, stop this.
EditNinja - 9/2/2011, 6:12 AM
