RUMOR: Zack Snyder Considering WATCHMEN Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan For BATMAN

A new report claims that Watchmen and Supernatural actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is meeting with Zack Snyder about possibly reteaming with the director for the role of 'Batman' in 2015's Man of Steel sequel which will pit the Caped Crusader against Superman. Check it out!

The Hollywood Reporter's short list of actors up for the role of Batman included Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Richard Aritage, and while Latino-Review would later throw Gerard Butler's name into the mix, another possible candidate has now emerged. According to Think McFly Think, Watchmen's Matthew Goode isn't the only star from that film to be in contention for the role of the Caped Crusader as Jeffrey Dean Morgan - who played 'The Comedian' in that movie - is said to be meeting with director Zack Snyder about the role. At 47 years of age, he certainly fulfills the older Bruce Wayne that the studio is looking for. However, despite taking on plenty of varied and meaty roles in the past, he arguably lacks the big name presence of some of the other rumoured candidates. However, so did Henry Cavill, and that certainly didn't stop Man of Steel from being a success! What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

just a rumor
trebud69 - 8/6/2013, 7:19 PM
if they really are looking for an older Batman this guy could do it for sure. I can totally see him being a more mature darker Batman looking down at this "kid" who destroyed a city. Maybe the cancelling of his show freed him up. Ilike it still wouldve liked a younger one. possibly to set up a Batman Beyond later on? haha now thats funny.
LEVITIKUZ - 8/6/2013, 7:20 PM
I'm down but just announce someone for us to hate on.
MrCBM56 - 8/6/2013, 7:21 PM
Please...please...don't let this be more than a rumor.

The new batman should young fresh and is new blood. Not old rugged and VERY experienced.

If they wanted that they should've connected TDKR with Man of Steel.

I'm very cautious with this movie.

He is a really good actor, but sadly didn't hit this level of stardom till his late 30's early 40's. Personally, I think 40 is as old as they should go. My choice for a semi seasoned Batman is Karl Urban.
Reasonnnn - 8/6/2013, 7:23 PM
@LEVI HOW DARE YOU, jk I agree with you
3DWitchHunt - 8/6/2013, 7:23 PM
Wonder how closely Snyder is planning on following TDKReturns if he's really searching for an older Batman
superherofan21 - 8/6/2013, 7:24 PM
I really don't think this guy's cut out for the role...
BANE5000 - 8/6/2013, 7:24 PM
It would be awesome...but there's still something that doesn't say he'd be a good choice for Batman.
Dragonpiece - 8/6/2013, 7:25 PM
It really doesn't matter who does's gonna be a shitty film regardless.
Dandy - 8/6/2013, 7:25 PM
I like the guy, but he never gave off a "Batman vibe" ever.
ahhmynuts - 8/6/2013, 7:25 PM
well if hes going that route get gerard butler lol
revloveR - 8/6/2013, 7:26 PM
these people really have boner for tdk returns.
SmellofDuty - 8/6/2013, 7:26 PM
I'm gonna say no to that one.
DoctorDoak - 8/6/2013, 7:26 PM
If Snyder is going with an older Bats, I'd take him over Brolin any day. Still would prefer Bale, but I know that ain't happening.
Enterlion - 8/6/2013, 7:26 PM
I don't understand why he "has" to be young. I actually really like the idea of Batman being older, wiser, and rugged. It gives him a reason to dislike Superman, because he's been around for a lot longer, doing things a lot safer.

Honestly, I'm sure this movie will get screwy like Superman did. So, really I guess I shouldn't have an opinion since I didn't really care for Man of Steel. Before you start, no I'm not a Marvel groupie, I just haven't really enjoyed the direction Warner Bros took with the DC titles. Green Lantern had my hopes high, shot them way down, I don't really like Christian Bale as Bats, (the best parts about TDK trilogy to me were definitely Ledger and Oldman) and I thought Man of Steel felt like a let down. I don't really know how you can approach Superman in film, but I wasn't too keen on how they have been doing it.
kevberg - 8/6/2013, 7:27 PM
[frick] yeah!!!!!

Or Wolverine.... hes got that thing going on! oh yeah Badass-ness.
LEVITIKUZ - 8/6/2013, 7:27 PM
I do think for some reason, he could play a good Hal Jordan.

Just cast someone.
OldBenKenobi - 8/6/2013, 7:27 PM
Damn these old Batman rumors to hell.
TheOneAboveAll - 8/6/2013, 7:27 PM
We need someone to be announced so we can nitpick everything about him and then get surprised by his performance when the movie comes out.
pud333 - 8/6/2013, 7:28 PM
No no no no.
Franshu - 8/6/2013, 7:28 PM
Nah. He was good in Watchmen, but he just looks NOTHING like Bruce Wayne.
schneider625 - 8/6/2013, 7:30 PM
Goddammit, this bullshit needs to stop!
IronLeprechaun - 8/6/2013, 7:30 PM
Make it happen bitches.
NextHero08 - 8/6/2013, 7:31 PM
So an old ass Batman and a young Superman is somehow supposed to lead to a Justice League movie? Bullshyt....
CCR - 8/6/2013, 7:31 PM
Yeah too bad he's not 10 years younger....if they're seriously going this route, ffs just get Bale.
IronLeprechaun - 8/6/2013, 7:31 PM
And he isn't old, he's older for Bruce Wayne, but he could definitely pull it off
CouchTater - 8/6/2013, 7:34 PM
Oh Hell No!
Thegeekygurl - 8/6/2013, 7:34 PM
At this point I would rather see more Watchmen than Man Of Steel or "Old Man Brucie". Old Man Logan was cool though.
MattBracken - 8/6/2013, 7:34 PM
Richard Armitage is the way to go, he definitely fits the bill with his looks, he is 6’2″, has a deep, rich voice, and has the acting ability to play anything he wants. As seen in the Hobbit he can act very very grumpy. Richard Armitage’s popularity with fans is such that his followers call themselves the “Armitage Army” and are one of the most loyal groups of followers in the industry.

Silentman - 8/6/2013, 7:34 PM
I would love to see an older Bruce and I think Josh Brolin or Jeffery Dean Morgan would be great picks. It would be another fresh take on the character rather than rinsing and recycling the same thing. If they end up going with some one younger though than Gosling would be an interesting choice, but I think Richard Aritage is a slightly better fit.
CharlesLord - 8/6/2013, 7:34 PM
i can see the really rugged bats.

Personally I think that JDM could play a good Dark Knight Returns version of batman. He is the right age for an older Batman and is still in great physical shape. He also has the deep and powerful voice needed to desperately avoid the disaster that was Christian Bales Bat voice (still gives me chills at how crappy it was) This movie is going to go one of two ways.
1) Its going to be the introduction of Superman and Batman to each other and their first couple of runs together as heroes which means that I do agree with most that JDM is too old for that particular version.
2) They will do a Dark Knight Returns type story line with Batman going to War against Superman. In this case a younger Batman would not fit at all. In order for the confrontation to work and be believable Batman needs to be well experienced and at the pinnacle of his abilities. Being a HUGE fan of the Dark Knight Returns story arc I hope that this is the way they are going and we will get to see a vs movie. If That is the case Jeffrey gets my vote all the way.
PC04 - 8/6/2013, 7:38 PM
I really like JDM. He's a top notch actor. In my opinion, I think he can personifie the type of Batman that Kevin Conroy voices in the Animated Series.

BTAS's Batman, although a cartoon is MY BATMAN so to speak. He is mature, doesn't talk to much. He is a calculating genius and a master of the martial arts. Batman should always be 10 steps ahead of his Villians and Super-hero buddies.
