Twitter Buzz: SFBatkid

Sometimes the world surprises you for the better. What started out as a small event quickly ballooned to over 10,000 participants who wanted to make a young leukemia victim's wish come true. Here are the top tweets chronicling the SFBatKid's day in Gotham City.

[Not Twitter I know, but we'll cheat just this once.]

There's tons more of positive vibes out there in the Twittersphere, this is truly one of the biggest feel-good stories to come around in a long time.

Miles Scott aka SFBatKid had his wish come true thanks to the folks of the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Scott has been battling leukimia since he was 18-months-old but this past June, his treatment ended as his affliction went into remission. And just how did Scott wish to celebrate his victory? To become Batman and save the day. In response, the Make-a-Wish Foundation gathered roughly 200 volunteers to make his dream come true and transform San Francisco into Gotham City but thanks to the power of the internet, that number exploded to somewhere north of 10,000 people.

This was great stuff to read about! Seen it on quite a few places, great story

Awesome that things like this can happen and that people rally behind it as much as they did. There are so many horrible stories that you read about, always great to see things like this, warms the heart

JGAR - 11/17/2013, 11:53 AM
James Gunn should shut up!
SanFranLand - 11/17/2013, 11:55 AM

You would have a cold heart of stone to not be moved by this story, let alone being a comic book fan and seeing someone live out something we would all have loved as a kid.

So good.
NovaCorpsFan - 11/17/2013, 12:19 PM

I can't help but think you've misunderstood his tweet.

He's saying he is crying at it, y'know, they way you might be like, "Oh it's just a bit of dust, I'm not crying, shut up."

That's what he means.

Love it. BatKid is my hero too.
SAZMD - 11/17/2013, 1:13 PM
Stephen Amell's Facebook page is always a treat for Arrow fans. He seems like a genuinely good guy, as his above contribution shows.
Supes17 - 11/17/2013, 2:06 PM
Surprised no one's trolling because they're using the Nolan costumes haha.

This story brought tears to my eyes. I know what it's like to have a family member struggle with cancer, and this gives me hope. It proved what Batman said to Gordon. "A hero can be anyone.." Yes, even a kid with leukemia. He's made quite an impact in people's lives.
Ok I'm done being mushy lol.
AsianVersionOfET - 11/17/2013, 2:30 PM
And I'm crying...again.
LexHairFight - 11/17/2013, 3:03 PM
