UPDATE: The Dark Knight Rises Set Photo Offers A Better Look At The "Lazarus Pit"

UPDATE: The Dark Knight Rises Set Photo Offers A Better Look At The "Lazarus Pit"

This newest set image gives us a more detailed look at what fans have been speculating is the lazarus pit in Christopher Nolans upcoming movie 'The Dark Knight Rises' *We Now Have 2 More Photos From The Set*

A few days ago we saw the 2 very blurry pictures of a set in India for 'The Dark Knight Rises' and immediately fan speculation went wild with theories. The most popular theory seems to be that it's the Lazarus Pit.

Here's another pictures from the same location, but now we have it in a much better quality giving us a better look at what could possibly be the Lazarus Pit.

[Click The Image To Enlarge]

“The Lazarus Pit is mythical vats of arcane chemicals in the DC comics universe. The most common user of the pit is Ra’s al Ghul. Ra’s al Ghul accidentally discovered the first Lazarus Pit as a cure for the dying son of a sultan he worked for. The Pit had a terrible side effect, however; it turned the Prince temporarily insane, leading to him killing the doctor’s wife. After being blamed for the murder, the man who would become Ra’s Al Ghul was buried in the desert. He was rescued by a tribe and a boy named Huew. After this he used the Lazarus Pit to save himself, and vowed to avenge his wife. The doctor gave himself the title Ra’s al Ghul – The Demon’s Head”.

So what do you guys think? Lazarus Pit? Or just some other CGI shot? One thing is for sure, we know Nolan doesn't like to use CGI unless he really has too, so it would seem that he wouldn't be using CGI here for just any small reason.

I guess they're doing away with realism, then.
StrangerX - 5/9/2011, 12:15 PM
Soo..it is the Lazarus Pit.
superotherside - 5/9/2011, 12:16 PM
interesting... i'm surprised nolan would go the unrealistic way... maybe he's figured a realistic way to explain it? maybe it's just thought that it will heal you and raise the dead? idk... too early to tell...
Sentrybob - 5/9/2011, 12:17 PM
no it could be like a native belief that the pit brings immortality
Comedian03 - 5/9/2011, 12:19 PM
The walls resemble the walls of a well IMO. But c'mon guys, Nolan had a guy with half his face burnt off walking around hours later killing people. His movies are realistic but not THAT realistic. I don't think Nolan would bother with CGI unless it was really necessary.
Treebeard - 5/9/2011, 12:19 PM
yeah! lets see Neeson as Ra's again! hell yeah!
nuck82 - 5/9/2011, 12:20 PM
well it being a green screen it can be anything, it could be a pool full of sharks with frickin lasers on there heads, for all we know, im just saying, your welcome
ScottPilgrim - 5/9/2011, 12:25 PM
I do not believe, whats the point....Unless Talia takes Bruce there after Bane has broken his back. But it will look S**T
FutureCBMHero - 5/9/2011, 12:26 PM
It could still be anything at this point. For all we know it's going to be a CGI orgy where Dick Grayson is conceived. It wouldn't shock me to have a legendary Lazarus Pit that locals thought would heal all, but it's probably nothing.
MovieTheaterLad - 5/9/2011, 12:26 PM
Oh boy!

Does this mean Heath Ledger can cameo?!?!
Redhood88 - 5/9/2011, 12:26 PM
People keep pointing out the implausibility of things like two-face and Batman falling several stories onto a car blah blah blah.

It's a film. It's going to involve certain shit that wouldn't happen in real life.

But the Pits? It's an idea so out of tone with the rest of the series that I'm fairly convinced people are just saying it because they've literally exhausted all other crackpot theories.

It aint the Lazarus pit.
Comedian03 - 5/9/2011, 12:26 PM

Sharks with frickin lasers attached to their frickin heads? Seriously? That has got to be, the absolute most....Awesome thing I could possibly imagine for this movie.
RyanLantern77 - 5/9/2011, 12:30 PM
yes nuck
TheAdvocate - 5/9/2011, 12:31 PM
Guys, it is all speculation until we get some actual movie footage, trailer, or official movie synopsis suggesting that they will be using the Lazarus spa.
SuperDude001 - 5/9/2011, 12:31 PM
Why does everyone think Nolan's going to be full realism. His last film was Inception, a confusing movie about entering dreams, and he still made that his realistic style.
Being realistic in his world doesn't mean no Lazarus Pit, it just means he could find a new take on it.

However I'm still unsure as to whether this is indeed the Pit or just some odd CGI green screen thing not involved in the comics.
MovieMann - 5/9/2011, 12:31 PM
Wow you all will believe anything
MovieTheaterLad - 5/9/2011, 12:36 PM
Forget laser sharks!

This movie needs LASER DINOSAURS!!!

Amazo - 5/9/2011, 12:37 PM
Could be they needed an entrance to a cave with the Indian palace in the background.Or any number of other things.
Macksimus - 5/9/2011, 12:38 PM
Look at those ropes...

I think the CGI will be used to make that seemingly shallow pool look like a deep well. I doubt it will be used to create the effect of liquid inside.
TyrannicalOverlord - 5/9/2011, 12:40 PM
THIS IS GOTHAM! (kicks the Riddler into the pit)
marvel72 - 5/9/2011, 12:43 PM
@ nuck82

sharks with lasers strapped to their heads,at last i've heard something that has got me intrested again.
Bobby2889 - 5/9/2011, 12:49 PM
I'm guessing if it is (which it easily could be) it will either be something ceremonial and maybe used for cremating Ra's or something like that (with a floating coffin...Im not sure). Or more likely it will be something like a natural hot spring full of minerals. So warriors use it after battle and it doesnt revive the dead or heal wounds but does have beneficial health properties which is perfectly realistic.
GrimeKid - 5/9/2011, 12:52 PM
The wall looks all melted & burnt so i'm guessing it's LAVA!
Like I've said before.
axiouz - 5/9/2011, 12:53 PM
Yeah def a green screen for something
GUNSMITH - 5/9/2011, 12:55 PM
Bryanferryfan - 5/9/2011, 12:59 PM
Hey TEA....you miss me? anyways, this could be for a Bollywood Movie.
FtLoiterDale - 5/9/2011, 12:59 PM
@BentheAwesomeEntity .. Finally, Someone with sense!

I love how someone assumed its the "Lazarus Pit" and everyone starts to believe it is such a thing. At the same time people begin to get upset over something that we have no evidence that what is being assumed is true.

If it is, I think it would be great!
ckyallie69 - 5/9/2011, 1:01 PM
im going with a pit leading to an underground hide out for the league of shadows...

lazarus pit does not fit into nolan's universe. yes he did have a guy run around with half his face burnt of a day after he was injured but that is taking some minor liberties..with that said, why would he do away with everything he has built so far and throw in immortality into the mix
cadairjr05 - 5/9/2011, 1:04 PM
maybe he's going to draw a connection between the Lazarus Pit and the chemical Bane uses (venom) to pump up.

But one will probably not be like we're accustomed to it. Ra's Al Ghul (Liam Neeson's version) won't be coming back. So if it is the Lazarus Pit, it's not going to restore him.

Maybe Nolan is replacing the venom idea for something else the League of Shadows comes up with to fuel Bane--of course that is assuming that they will have that type of connection with Bane in Nolan's story.
UltimaRex - 5/9/2011, 1:15 PM
It could even be the access hatch for the Batwing.
drob127 - 5/9/2011, 1:17 PM
What's up with the little green screen rocks in the third pic?
Vandal - 5/9/2011, 1:18 PM
@Superdude001...I totally agree, I think everyone takes the "realistic" premise way too far. I was as excited by everyone when I first read this and saw the outcome, but all it means is no outlandish BS that we've seen in other movies and no kids silly stuff like the last couple of the other Batman movies. No matter what there HAS to be some suspension of disbelief when watching any CBM. Bring on the Lazurus Pit (get ready for this), as Bane is Ra's Al Ghul after being put into the pit in this movie version. How's that for "learning something new", from Begins.
MovieTheaterLad - 5/9/2011, 1:29 PM

What's up with the little green screen rocks in the third pic?

*BUM BUM BUMMMMMMMMM dramataic reveeerrrb*
EndOfDays - 5/9/2011, 1:31 PM
@drob127 looks like the rocks that were holding the green screen down were painted green, and then left behind when they packed up.
LEEE777 - 5/9/2011, 1:33 PM
PapaEmeritus - 5/9/2011, 1:38 PM
Why everybody is saying that TDKR won't be realistic just because of the Laz pit??? I don't get it, of course the pit could be made in realistic way, why the hell not? Could be chemical, could be just a mythical place like Ganges river... Nolan put Batman to fly in realistic way, put the tumbler on rooftops en realistic way. So stop whining! And why HAS to be the pit after all? could be everything!
rbfn04 - 5/9/2011, 1:39 PM
SUre, realism, cause it's possible to be Batman in the real world
CarlosAM - 5/9/2011, 1:48 PM
I really don't like how right on the front page of this site it's talking about this. Wouldn't this be considered a spoiler? If so why wouldn't you write spoiler on the front and not show the actual picture?
JackBauer - 5/9/2011, 2:03 PM
@SirPrize - As long as her Lazarus Pit still works I'll do just fine :)
PurpleHaze92 - 5/9/2011, 2:13 PM
