BATMAN: Christian Calls Cancer Patient in Hospital

Kudos to Christian Bale! Looks like he's working hard to change his sometimes negative image. He's taken time out to be kind to a 7-year-old kid (and Batman fan) named Zach Guillot who is battling Leukemia.

First the Aurora shooting victims, now this. Bale is acting like a superhero on and off the big screen. I'm sure this little kid got a big boost when he heard who it was calling him--although I didn't hear if Christian put on the deep gravelly voice or not. It's kind of hard to hear.

Well that kid looked like he really enjoyed talking to christian, Its amazing how such a little thing from a celebrity can help lift the spirits of someone, I'ts nice to see this, a generous, and honest gesture from a huge celeb. Kudos to you Christian, and to Zack, I hope you get better bud.

really great to see bale do things like this. he really understands the responsibility of being the on screen batman for a time and doesn't hesitate to reach out to fans. kudos to him, and i hope zack makes a speedy recovery.

HE CALLED THE KID! ON THE PHONE! YOU MEAN HE TOOK THE TIME TO CALL SOMEONE WHO HAS CANCER! What a true blue American hero! It doesn't take much for you guys to call someone a hero does it? My wife has spent hundreds of hours at the local children's hospital doing volunteer work, and this over paid actor spends 15 minutes calling a kid on the phone and he's a hero.

You are all a bunch of children looking up to a bunch of actors. Grow up and look up to someone worthy of being called a hero.

Yes, it can be cool when celebrities do this, but do they do it because they are moved to do it on their own, or is it setup by the PR person? That happens all the time, especially when they are trying to clean up negative images. I know a number of celebrities who volunteer and do things like this all the time because that is where their heart is. The occasional "drive-by" make a call or visit a kid seems to be over-glorified when it comes to celebrities when we don't necessarily know the motivation and intent behind it. Kudos to him if it was done out of the goodness of his heart, though I don't think a big-name celebrity should get any more attention for it then people who do it on a regular basis.

@VIRILEMAN - Dick head, give the guy some respect hes a good man for that.Some celebs dont even care they just want the image OF BEING THE NEXT "it" celeb, but for the rest of the caring actors,actress ect they take there schedule and pauses it to show that they care for there fans and they lift there fans spirit and gives them strength.Any Man,Woman who does that deserves to be a called a hero in my book.

Levitkuz@ I didn't say he necessarily did it for PR, but there are plenty of celebrities who do it for that reason. I work in the nonprofit sector and have worked with many celebrity charity events and after watching interviews and visiting with various celebrities, it becomes easy to spot which ones are disingenuous and which ones aren't. I am not saying Bale is or isn't. My degree is in Public Relations and there is a difference between most people's perception of press and public relations. Most big name celebrities have PR agents, including Bale.

Bale yet met a Batman fan leukemia kid Jayden at Disneyland (he paid the trip) 4 months ago AND 5/4 years ago,he yet visited Leukemia kid (around 4:00)

Ranger14, I think that bale does this often. A while ago, I think after TDK, he also visited a kid in chicago that wrote him a letter telling him how he was his fave superhero. The kid lived in this projects that Bale was trying to bring to LA. That just does not always appear in the media.

First off, much respect to admiration to your wife for the good work she does, we need more people like her, definitely.
Second, the name of this site is "comicbookmovie", and thus, this is a related story. This little guy is obviously a Batman fan, and talking to Bale really lifted his spirits. I think that's where the focus should be.

I agree with VIRILEMAN. I keep reading people saying stuff like, "I've never heard a bad thing about Bale" and how he is a great actor. This is the 1st time I ever heard anything positive about Bale and as for the great actor...I guess it takes alot to sound like you are gargling glass and looking stoic! He made a phone call...This is obviously a PR stunt. How about all the times Johnny Depp visited a children's hospitals and visited schools dressed as Jack Sparrow to raise spirits. That is someone who cares.
