BATMAN vs SUPERMAN - Eisenberg Explains Why He’s Playing Lex Luthor

In a Interview with MTV's Craig Flaster , Jessie Eisenberg explains why he may not walk the streets again due to him being cast as one of the biggest villain's in comic book history. Hit the Jump to find out more.....

The character is, luckily, a really great character,” Eisenberg said told MTV News’ “Actors can sometimes find really cool things in characters that aren’t written well. This character is written really well.
Eisenberg was asked about the attention he'll receive for a big blockbuster role, like Luthor?
For a movie like ‘The Double or ‘Night Moves,’ arguably me doing interviews for it is much more important for it than doing an interview for Batman, because there’s not that much money for posters,” Eisenberg explained, “Whereas for Batman, if I was in a coma after it was filmed… So i don’t really see it as that different."
Jessie also explains that he is not an attention seeker like Luthor. “You’re just exposed to more people, so walking down the street is more annoying,” Eisenberg added. That said, the Oscar nominee also thinks that blockbusters are important for an actor’s career. “It’s important to be in those big things,” Eisenberg continued. “I happen to want to do this movie because the character is awesome, but it’s also important to be in those for some kind of longevity.”

So what do you think?

MrBlackJack - 5/19/2014, 2:42 PM
Nice find!
SoundWave - 5/19/2014, 2:43 PM
Only if he will shave his head bold.
Brainiac13 - 5/19/2014, 2:44 PM

Omarvls - 5/19/2014, 2:45 PM
I think they are all going to be great
Gal Gadot is going to kill it as Wonder Woman
Talontd - 5/19/2014, 2:45 PM
I was soooo disappointed with The Double, I was hoping for a glimpse of what he'll be bringing to Lex Luthor, but the film was atrocious.

Still VERY excited for what he will do with the road, just wish I had stopped going through his films at Now You See Me...
cosmicman - 5/19/2014, 2:47 PM
he's not going to be bald! haha!

When Jesse talks about BvS it sounds a lot like Glenn Close talking about GOTG. Extremely disinterested. "Yea, I'm doing it cuz I have to". And when he says the character is awesome it sounds forced.

Oh well. At least Ben Affleck is an actual fan of the material.
Nomis - 5/19/2014, 2:49 PM
Cool Scoop, Brainiac!

My biggest problem with this casting is is how intimidating can he be as Lex when he's around Cavill?
kevberg - 5/19/2014, 2:51 PM
why...CASH. really.
write33 - 5/19/2014, 2:52 PM

you know, you ask a good question, but i think that's exactly why he was cast...because he is able to project that sort of intellectual superiority / arrogance in the face of someone who could snap his neck. ..(and yes as a lifelong Superman fan, I very much this movie to work even though it looks like Superman guest-starring in his his own sequel..)

I bet he isn't bald in the movie. Synder and Co. are already taking alot of liberties with the source material so I won't be surprised.
DaVinci31 - 5/19/2014, 2:54 PM
Well that was a whole lot of nothing.
SuperiorMrGod - 5/19/2014, 2:55 PM
Hes smart and hell do a great job. Haters gonna hate.

@ write33 - Intimidating by having "mind over muscle". Interesting.

I see where you 're going with that. and I would to have a Lex that seriously have Superman questing himself by casting doubts on his ability as "earth's Hero".

If that's the angle Zach is going for and if Jesse pull it off, I would happily be the FIRST in line to say I was wrong about doubting the casting.
Brainiac13 - 5/19/2014, 2:59 PM

That's one of my issues as well.

DrunkenNukem - 5/19/2014, 2:59 PM
Hope Snyder explains it better at SDCC
Brainiac13 - 5/19/2014, 3:01 PM
He starts filming next month.
TheBeard - 5/19/2014, 3:09 PM
because he got paid a lot of money
nighteagle - 5/19/2014, 3:10 PM
I get so hyped for this movie and then i remember he's cast as my favorite villain.. and then i lose all interest.. how could they drop the ball like this... say he is good.. thats fine.. but with actors like Cranston and Strong.. he will never be the best POSSIBLE we could of had.. and thats what saddens me
TheBuoyWonder - 5/19/2014, 3:10 PM
Is just me that finds it odd that he calls the movie "batman"?
mbembet - 5/19/2014, 3:14 PM
i really cannot wait to see ben affleck kicks the crap out of man of shit!
write33 - 5/19/2014, 3:17 PM

exactly, we're on the same page.......I so hope that part of how Lex goes after Superman is to attack his sense of failed responsibility (e.g. the destruction / death it took to stop Zod) and that the first movie didn't happen in a vacuum. Somehow to tie that in with Bruce Wayne taking an interest (Rebuild Metropolis? or is that too obvious a story angle to introduce him?)....... I can see how the sequel leverages Lex & Bruce while building off Man of Steel 1; but I'll feel much better when we get some official story details! (e.g. like Nukem said, SDCC)
DrDoom - 5/19/2014, 3:26 PM
Shit casting. What a twat.
Klone - 5/19/2014, 3:27 PM
Why the [frick] would he not be bald?
Nubase - 5/19/2014, 3:27 PM
lex does not need to be bald, that will not happen, so if superman does not see a bald lex he not gona take him for real?, l'm sure they will talk about it but its not needed for this DCCU, the most important thing is how lex is gona get under supermans skin and how he is portrayed on screen, we have not seen teh real lex, rosenbaum did a great job in smallville, he was actually the best thing on that show but he could only take it to a certain limit, l'm sure we will see lex unleashed in this movie behind the public eye, also lex corp have the world engine in its hands and they know how it works, this is in a viral website for the man of steel blu ray, so perhaps thats a clue to what lex is gona use it for
SuperCat - 5/19/2014, 3:28 PM
I hope he proves me wrong. Still not happy with him being cast.
Klone - 5/19/2014, 3:32 PM
Luthor being bald is a defining and iconic part of the character's look. For [frick]'s sake Superman doesn't need a cape either let alone cloths given his invulnerability. Let's get rid of that too I suppose?
Firgosaurus - 5/19/2014, 3:34 PM
Who care's it's just hair. Luthor's baldest was one of the most stupidest aspect of him. When he was a teen, sure it gave him some sort of motivation to do what he did as a young adult, but a fvcking middle age Luthor who prefers a shaved head must have gotten over that hump?
Brainiac13 - 5/19/2014, 3:36 PM

Agree. I doubt Snyder will not have him bald.

I was used to typing its K. ;)
xXkryptoniteXx - 5/19/2014, 3:37 PM
He will be a great Lex Luthor
Klone - 5/19/2014, 3:38 PM
Well, in versions where he literally cannot grow (as that happens with people) it works fine.
Slider13 - 5/19/2014, 3:38 PM
Is it just me or does anyone else think that this kid doesn't seem to have the stones to go up against Cavill and Affleck? #hoping
Klone - 5/19/2014, 3:39 PM
It is funny how well know the baldness is, like a friend of yours shaves their head and ordinary people will jokingly call them "Lex Luthor".
