BATMAN VS SUPERMAN Release Pushed Back To 2016!

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN Release Pushed Back To 2016!

Well, this is disappointing: Warner Bros. announces that the untitled Man of Steel sequel's release date has been pushed back by 10 full months, setting up a potential showdown with Marvel! Find out why

Following the recent allegation that Ben Affleck had sustained a leg injury that would delay the start of production by six weeks, Warner Bros. just announced that the untitled Man of Steel sequel has been delayed by 10 full months, and the film now shares a 2016 release date with an untitled Marvel Studios film. For all the details and comments from Warner Bros., here's the press release:

Warner Bros. Pictures announces that the release of Zack Snyder’s untitled Superman/Batman film has been moved to May 6, 2016, allowing the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story. The decision was made following the shift of the start of production to second quarter of this year. The Studio has also set a July 17, 2015, worldwide release date for its as-yet-untitled all-new Peter Pan adventure. Joe Wright will direct the epic live-action film about the boy who would never grow up, created by J.M. Barrie. The dual date announcement was made by Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President, International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

In making the announcement, Fellman stated, “We are happy to take advantage of these coveted summer dates, which are perfect for two of our biggest tentpole releases. We share the fans’ excitement to see DC Comics’ most popular figures, Superman and Batman, together on the big screen for the first time, which will now be arriving in theatres in May 2016. Peter Pan has delighted people of every generation for more than a century, so we are thrilled to bring him back to the screen next summer for today’s moviegoers.”

Kwan Vandenberg added, “We know that there is already great anticipation building for the next Super Hero film from Zack Snyder, and we are equally eager to see what he has in store for Superman and Batman as they share the big screen for the first time ever. The summer release corridor is also perfect for Joe Wright’s ambitious new Peter Pan adventure, reimagining the ageless story of the beloved and forever-young hero for audiences worldwide.” Zack Snyder’s Superman/Batman film stars Henry Cavill, reprising his role as Superman/Clark Kent, and Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. The film will also reunite “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, and also stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.

Snyder will direct the film from a screenplay written by David S. Goyer, from a story co-created by Goyer and Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as executive producers. The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, Batman characters created by Bob Kane, and Wonder Woman created by William Moulton Marston, published by DC Entertainment.

Good WB, take your time. Also, this means 2015 is Disney's.

ForeverPowerful - 1/17/2014, 5:19 PM
I was about to be sad and pissed, but this is probably for the best. Take your time and get this right.
ALegendaryPanda - 1/17/2014, 5:19 PM
Why? Why is this happening to me?! WHY????!!!!!!!
Brainiac13 - 1/17/2014, 5:20 PM
OK......Just give us a pic of Ben in the Bat suit now.
DEVLIN712 - 1/17/2014, 5:20 PM
This just gave Ant-Man a huge box office boost, good news for Marvel, bad news for fans
Interestein - 1/17/2014, 5:20 PM

The only good thing about this is more recognition for ANT-MAN.
JoeMomma29 - 1/17/2014, 5:20 PM
WTF!!!!! I give up!!!!!!!
AlexanderLykins - 1/17/2014, 5:21 PM
Are you kidding me? Is it that darn hard? This is not Batman vs. Superman! Stop calling it that! This is a Justice League movie. Nobody is falling for the façade anymore. Avengers: Age of Ultron, if done properly, will dominate 2015.
DEVLIN712 - 1/17/2014, 5:21 PM
Yeah, I agree with ForeverPowerful
SimonM7 - 1/17/2014, 5:21 PM
This is the best thing that could possibly have happened. Whatever apologists were saying, this entire thing screamed rushed from the word Batman.

Now it actually has time to be well thought out.
AlexanderLykins - 1/17/2014, 5:21 PM
Think about it people! Is this movie ever going to be finished? Why can't they just make this movie?
McNyagano - 1/17/2014, 5:22 PM

Kind of a bummer. Anyways, they should take their time. The more time they have, the more chances the quality of the film will be great. 2015 is Disney and Marvel's year again!! Damn!!!
ALegendaryPanda - 1/17/2014, 5:22 PM
This is by far the worst news all year!
Bucky - 1/17/2014, 5:23 PM
Its disappointing news to say the least.
Reasonnnn - 1/17/2014, 5:23 PM
@Panda I think it's time to make yours Marvel! haha jk, but yeah it's sad for all CBM fans.
JoeMomma29 - 1/17/2014, 5:23 PM
Sincerely I hate you WB, I mean you had plenty of time to get this movie out, heck these droughts from WB is just down right stupid. Hats off to Disney giving Marvel its own Studio.

I really think WB is like Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys as long as they pull the strings no more championships are going to happen.
DrDoom - 1/17/2014, 5:24 PM

Wow, that sucks.
GizmoEl - 1/17/2014, 5:24 PM
Would've been interesting to see Avengers AoU vs. PrettyMuchTheJusticeLeagueMovie. Guess they'll have to go against the second and third movies of Phase 3.
JoeMomma29 - 1/17/2014, 5:25 PM
My freaking son will be graduating high school when this movie finally comes out. I guess we can throw out any other movies plans at this point.
ALegendaryPanda - 1/17/2014, 5:25 PM
I feel like something inside me just died. At least I still got Avengers and Star Wars :(
MexicanSexyman - 1/17/2014, 5:25 PM
Frick that bs.
AlexanderLykins - 1/17/2014, 5:26 PM
Well I hope they reconsider all of this and make solo films. They are cramming way too much into one movie.
KilledHal9000 - 1/17/2014, 5:26 PM
Dont believe it need OFFICIAL confirmation.
Space - 1/17/2014, 5:26 PM
*shrugs shoulders* Oh well.
DEVLIN712 - 1/17/2014, 5:27 PM
I hear when Affleck was cast Christian Bale told him, "Just have fun, you'll do fine, break a leg"

I didn't expect him to take it seriously...
Reasonnnn - 1/17/2014, 5:27 PM
@JoeMomma29 make yours Marvel for 2015! :D
AlexanderLykins - 1/17/2014, 5:27 PM
Oh and Marvel is moving their May 6th release. Or do they have the balls to stay put?
Brainiac13 - 1/17/2014, 5:28 PM
KilledHal9000 - 1/17/2014, 5:28 PM
NOOOOO! NO. NO! God damn it no. No!
Bucky - 1/17/2014, 5:28 PM
Wait, so this hasn't even been confirmed?
McNyagano - 1/17/2014, 5:29 PM

"Fully realizing their vision" means "figuring out what the hell we're doing." Too bad they couldn't have figure that out before having announced a release date for this back at comic con. This is a bummer :(
ALegendaryPanda - 1/17/2014, 5:30 PM
[frick] [frick] [frick] [frick]!!! [frick] you WB! [frick] you right up your [frick]ing asses! NO DC movies for TWO [frick]ING YEARS?! GTFO
Reasonnnn - 1/17/2014, 5:30 PM
@Batmaniac The Wrap is on par with The Hollywood Reporter and Variety; they rarely get shit wrong.
TheWolverine08 - 1/17/2014, 5:30 PM

Reasonnnn - 1/17/2014, 5:31 PM

Reasonnnn - 1/17/2014, 5:32 PM
@DraculaX I bet they bump that Untitled 2016 film to April (akin to Captain America: TWS).
JoeMomma29 - 1/17/2014, 5:32 PM
Really I truly give up on Warner Brothers!
